About husband 'smoking' an e cigarette in the house?

Title says it all really! I have told my husband countless times that I am not happy with him smoking his e cigarette in the house? He says ok but then continues to do so when I am either in bed or out.

A bit of background, we have an 8 week old baby and my husband stopped smoking when we found out I was pregnant and I was rather proud of him (he didn't tell me he had quit until he was 90 days without a cigarette)

He never smoked normal cigarettes in the house before and I don't see why he should smoke this electronic one inside either.

His argument is that it is just water vapour!

I should add he is a great man and a fab Dad, I can't fault him on most things, apart from this.

I'm not sure, I let DH smoke his in the house as long as it was away from the baby, because everything I read suggested it would be safe. But can understand why you wouldn't be happy with it.

If it helps, DH no longer even smokes the e-cigs, so hopefully it'll stop entirely for you too.

Well, it is just water vapour though, isn't it? Do you think that water vapour is dangerous?

YABU - they ARE water vapour and are legal to smoke in non-smoking areas,

I'd let this one go if i were you... He's done really well and i wouldn't want to risk him going back on to proper ones.

The OP's attitude is becoming quite widespread though; I was on a train the other day when an announcement came over the tannoy for someone to stop smoking their electronic cigarette - presumably because of the deathly, erm, water vapour that they were polluting the carriage with.

And yes, give the guy a break - he has given up smoking real cigs which takes a real effort!

He's done bloody well to get this far and giving him a hard time over e-cigs is completely unfair. Cut him a huge amount of slack.

It is water apour, and harmless. Why do you not want him to use it indoors?

I think he's doing his best. But are you sure it's one that just has water vapour? Many types of e-cigs have a small dose of nicotine in, to the extent that the law on them is likely to change in the next couple of years so that they comply with cigarette packaging.

I wouldn't want it inside not because of any risk from the water vapour but because of how it looks. What worries me about e cigarettes is the fact that they are normalising smoking. Adults can tell the subtle differences but what message does it send children.

Yes, but the nicotine doesn't go into the atmosphere. The 'smoke' that comes out is STEAM.

Echocave the e-liquid has nicotine in it, but the exhaled vapour does not. The proposed change in the law is not to regulate them as cigarettes, but to classify them as medicinal products (which they aren't).
