I took my children to chessington. and was in que for the ride. my 3 year old daughter had been kicking the man in front of us. ( i had not seen) He turned and shouted at her 'stop kicking me,don't you dare kick me' his tone and voulume of voice was a bit over the top. I told my daughter you don't kick its naughty. Then i told him she is 3 years old if there is a problem you talk to me not her. The woman who was with him said they have to be firm with their child because of some special needs he has and i said that may be your situation and you may need to talk to your son that way, But that does not mean its ok to talk to my child that way.

ghostspirit I do get the feeling that you are beginning to realise that ywbu hence the flippant remarks about nose picking and swearing at old ladies as a diversion. If I were you I would just accept that having my dd shouted at was upsetting, but learn the life lesson that not everyone thinks your kids are as great as you do, and that if you allow your kids to physically hurt others, sometimes they really ain't gonna like it!

candycoatedwaterdrops · 08/09/2013 18:44

"i have answered already but if it makes you happy we will play pretend... ok i was on the phone to my other kids telling them the best place to shout at the old ladys."

Hahaha! Grin

usualsuspect · 08/09/2013 18:47

Why is everyone so obsessed with the OP being on her phone?

OP were you uploading photos of shouting man on your FB?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/09/2013 18:48

Ghostspirit - did you apologise to the man or get your dd to apologise?

MissDD1971 · 08/09/2013 18:49

Because if she was engrossed in FB etc then her eyes aren't on her kids?!

BoneyBackJefferson · 08/09/2013 18:49

"but its not been said that maybe he had a short temper"

Maybe he had Gout or some other ailment that meant that being kicked hurts like hell.

MissDD1971 · 08/09/2013 18:49

And on FB, twitter whatever on her phone

usualsuspect · 08/09/2013 18:50

But she wasn't on her phone Confused

MissDD1971 · 08/09/2013 18:51

Boney - most kicks from adult or child hurt like buggery.

Unless you have pillows for legs like me!

MissDD1971 · 08/09/2013 18:52

Usual OP didn't answer so the other posters assumed (fairly or not) that OP was on her phone.

YouTheCat · 08/09/2013 18:52

Finally a sort of answer. Hmm

I can see how your attention might not be on a 3 year old in a park kind of situation but not in a queue that is tightly packed and in a strange place.

usualsuspect · 08/09/2013 18:53

Maybe he was a miserable sod,and OPS DD accidentally kicked him.

I mean we weren't there were we.

I'm laughing at the made up story of the ops DD kicking the man while OP was posting selfies on FB.

veryhairymary · 08/09/2013 18:54

Did she kick him in retaliation for stopping her play with the bag?

It sounds less like an accidental kick.

ilovesooty · 08/09/2013 18:58

Ilovesooty I would if the kid kept on at it but I would say it to the adult when they're preschool because tbh it is the adult who is more in the wrong in that situation

Oh, in my plane situation, I agree with you. I wish I'd said something to the father, but he had his whole family on adjoining seats and I bottled out of it!

treaclesoda · 08/09/2013 18:59

I find the 'she might only have kicked him once' thing a bit baffling.

would only doing it once mean it wasn't as bad?

PoppyAmex · 08/09/2013 19:01

Dude it's kinda hard to feel sorry for the OP - she just went from being defensive and unreasonable to flippant.

She's still absolutely convinced she's right and the vast majority of posters is wrong.

ilovesooty · 08/09/2013 19:01

3 year old daughter had been kicking the man in front of us

That doesn't imply that she did it once anyway.

MissDD1971 · 08/09/2013 19:03

I don't have kids.

But if I'd done this as a child I'd have been taken out of queue, told off, made to apologise and possible not do rides etc until I'd behaved. This would be despite how grumpy, mean the man I'd been kicking had been (which i would not have done!).

Which doesn't seem to have happened here.... Eg consequences to a child. Only buggy and then back on rides.

Retropear · 08/09/2013 19:04

Erm it is ok for an adult to shout at a child particularly one so badly behaved.

ghostspirit · 08/09/2013 19:06

usualsuspect... im uploading videos of my kids shouting at old ladys. and another of my ctv camera that i have hidden in my bag that watches my 3 year olds feet. im trying to find video evidence

Floggingmolly · 08/09/2013 19:07

Seriously, how could you not have seen her kicking the man in front of you? Does she normally kick random strangers? You need to be more alert when out with your children...

ghostspirit · 08/09/2013 19:08

missdd1971 as much as i agree with what you have said. should i have done that even if it meant punshing my other children.

OP posts:
ghostspirit · 08/09/2013 19:09

first time she has kicked anyone...

OP posts:
Sirzy · 08/09/2013 19:09

Yes. Sometimes that is what you have to do when you have more than one child with you and only one adult. It is the risk you take if you take them out alone.

lola88 · 08/09/2013 19:10

If my year old kicked someone I would be the second in line to tell them off after the kicked person.
