SaucyJack..that's the best post I've ever seen.

Deathbyladybirds · 06/09/2013 22:22

Might be on the autistic spectrum?

Apileofballyhoo · 06/09/2013 22:26

YANBU. Apart from the restrictiveness, it could be indicative of other issues.

runningonwillpower · 06/09/2013 22:30

Can I just ask, why are picky eaters so annoying?

I mean, it's their diet, their business.

So, why does it drive me insane?

Dahlen · 06/09/2013 22:30

I don't really care what anyone else eats, but I can see why this would be off-putting. I'm not really a foodie, but I love the social side of food. Long dinners with friends and family where you chat over the table are really my kind of thing, and if someone can't partake of whatever 'sharing' dish you've served up because they're a fussy eater, it does rather spoil the mood. As a host I'd be far too cowardly gracious to say that though.

Wesdly · 06/09/2013 22:39

I agree it could be really annoying and this comes from an incredibly fussy eater! My diet is fruit, veg, meat and fish.
Going out for food is pretty much impossible, even drinks can be hard.
I'm intolerant to a stupid amount of things so my fussy eating isn't down to me not liking or willing to try anything. If I could eat it without getting ill then I would give anything a go! I miss it.
People hate going out with me and I don't blame them, I will still go out for food however and get some very funny looks from people when I ask for just meat and veg on my plate!

This thread must go in classics JUST because of Saucys post Grin

BasilBabyEater · 06/09/2013 22:40

Unless it's Sheldon, then no.

AdoraBell · 06/09/2013 22:48

Don't think I could live with a properly fussy eater DH is bad enough and he's not actually fussy.

When it comes To eating together at home who is
going To cook? Do you want To eat what they insist on cooking? Cook two seperate meals each time? Raise DCs with the Notion that only these foods are aceptable?

I'm not annoyed by fussy eaters too much, but one friend recently made a big fuss about no wheat at a group meal out, questioned the menu repeatedly etc. Some wheat in the sauce is not going to make a huge difference. And no, they are not coeliac, just following a faddy diet.

Ponderfully · 06/09/2013 22:53

Saucy jack that really made me laugh. Good stuff!

Nicknamefail · 06/09/2013 22:54

I wouldn't date a fussy eater. Boring!

runningonwillpower · 06/09/2013 22:57

^^

I think you may have touched on what annoys me.

Fussy eaters behave as if they have a special need instead of a preference. OK, it's an extreme preference but why do I have to accommodate it?

I have preferences but I just get on with it.

littlemog · 06/09/2013 23:02

There are many more women like this than men ime.

iwantanafternoonnap · 06/09/2013 23:02

God yes I'd run a mile. I did go out with someone once who wasn't interested in food and just ate junk. Meal times were dull to say the least. I binned him and his lack of interest in food was one of the any reason as I feel it showed a lack of interested in other things.

He had few real friends, only interests were work and drank too much.

glitternanny · 06/09/2013 23:06

interesting replies Smile Smile

will only eat a steak or chicken in breadcrumbs with potato. lunch is a ham sandwich and only drinks one type of squash.

I wonder about the message given to children in the environment there's no way id accommodate that for my ds!

likewise meals out at a restaurant or socialising at friends/hosting/xmas dinner!

going abroad - can't imagine it.

Run for the hills. A man this unadventurous about his food is likely to be a crap shag.
...which is why I married a bloke who loves cooking faffing for hours in the kitchen and eating.Grin

specialmagiclady · 06/09/2013 23:19

Biiiiig turn off for me! Food is a way to explore the world and your senses. Will this person be prepared to get messy in the sack?

squoosh · 06/09/2013 23:24

Cannot stand fussy eaters. Major, major turn off.

Symptomatic of a someone who likes to stick to a boring and rigid routine.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 06/09/2013 23:25

I want a man I can have adventures and fight the world with.

Not one who sits there crying because the peas are touching the carrots.

I'm going to laminate this Grin

Nice one SaudyJack

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 06/09/2013 23:26

I'm sorry that so many of you would dismiss me as a potential 'mate' if I had a sex change simply because I have quite a restrictive diet. Your loss though

squoosh · 06/09/2013 23:27

'will only eat a steak or chicken in breadcrumbs with potato. lunch is a ham sandwich and only drinks one type of squash.'

That's not 'fussy', that's totally fucking bizarre OP! Did he suffer a fall aged 7 and paralyse his taste in food?

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 06/09/2013 23:29

Some of you are saying such twatty things.

What I do or don't eat has fuck all to do with -

  • how I am in bed
  • how much fun I am to go out with
  • how much of a rigid boring life I do or don't lead
Jessicarthorse · 06/09/2013 23:40

Fussy eater = chippy, defensive, humourless. Every time.

NettoSuperstar · 06/09/2013 23:46

I think there's a difference between restrictive diet, and fussy eater.
Restrictive diet is fine, just explain and I'll accommodate, whether in my home or out.
Fussy eater, picks and pokes, pulls faces, makes noises about the food and is generally a PITA.
