I am so furious I can hardly speak Angry

My 9 month old table top dishwasher went wrong in mid July. As it was less than a year old it was still under warranty. So I contact Currys and an engineer is booked to attend on 15 July.

Engineer couldn't fix it so took it away. Almost 3 weeks later it comes back and it doesn't work. It actually had a new fault despite having been in the workshop for weeks. About a week later another engineer comes out. Still broken, can't be fixed and is condemned. He tells me Currys will arrange a replacement. 3 weeks later NO CONTACT. I email and try to phone but am on hold for ages. Finally get through on 30th August. Item out of stock and won't be in for weeks. I can have a refund of the cost but obviously I have paid for installation etc and I would need to pay again if I went elsewhere.

On Monday I get a call about my email complaint (about a 5 day response time so that's improving). Get more patronising bollocks off the woman on the phone about item out of stock nothing they can do even though it's been weeks and the service has been abysmal. While on the phone I can see my dishwasher for sale on website. She agrees to order it and I will get a call either that day or tomorrow. No call comes but an envelope of receipts arrives on Wednesday. Try to get through on phone but stuck on hold again.

So to today. A text arrives telling me my delivery is coming today. Eventually two guys arrive with enormous box. They take away old dishwasher then wave bye. The box is the width of the kitchen floor and I can't get to the only bathroom and loo (and the baby's just shat all over the high chair but that's not their fault). I ask them where they're going - no installation's been booked.

They take pity on me and unpack it and install it. Except it's not properly installed. It's lurching towards the sink, all the tubes are twisted, there's water everywhere and the electric cable is sitting in the water. They've not turned it on, which is just as well because I suspect there's rather a large risk of electrocution and/or flooding.

There's nothing Currys can do Hmm even though there is a hazard sitting in my kitchen. I am livid.

There have also been missed appointments, missed callbacks and each time I have had to wait in all day because they are whole day appointments. That's 4 days so far because they didn't tell me about the last delivery. Oh and I can't speak to a manager apparently.

Sorry it is epic but I have told you everything to avoid the dripfeed. I have remained calm and polite throughout until the last Kafkaesque phone call (another 20 minutes of my life gone) where they told me there was nothing that could be done today despite there being cables in water and I have two small children at home. I got a bit tearful then Blush

I am thoroughly fed up.

They give me rage we bought dd a blackberry playbook and it stopped working withing my years warranty, they refused to fix it, we contacted blackberry and gave them the serial number, blackberry told me they were breaking the consumers right law and thatcthey would fight my corner.

Back I went to there after looking up and memorising my rights. When they refused again. I started stating my rights and I was told to shut up or I would be removed as they weren't dealing with someone like me!! They took the playbook eventually and "fixed it" its lying NOT FIXED in the cupboard.

I wouldn't spend my money there again in a million years there staff are incompetent and disgustingly rude.

InLoveWithDavidTennant · 10/09/2013 21:01

Shock bloody hell! what utter shit bags

i wont be shopping there again... our local one is the cardiff one mentioned at the beginning of the thread... appalling! Angry

HappyYoni · 10/09/2013 21:11

Come on currys if you are reading this, sort it out! It can't be that bloody hard!

K8Middleton · 10/09/2013 21:26

Oh I'd go elsewhere but my options for table top dishwashers are very, very limited and I am restricted on size 50w x 55d (cm).

I also don't want to have to pay a fortune for installation again but mainly, although it's happening I almost cannot believe they won't stop being incompetent and sort it out.

bimbabirba · 10/09/2013 21:41

I share your rage but it's Talktalk that I'm furious with.
No line for over a month and they still demand payment. It's the hours wanted on the phone talking to brainless people that drive me nutty Angry

bimbabirba · 10/09/2013 21:42

*wasted

FunnyRunner · 10/09/2013 21:56

God this is ridiculous. Funnily enough we were about to buy a new cooker and washing machine but after reading this tale of woe I'll be checking out the local independent places first. Sorry for your stress levels OP and shame on Currys. Agree with the poster up thread - vote with your feet people.

JudgeJodie · 10/09/2013 22:02

Has anyone tweeted the thread to curry s? I had a delivery driver being really abusive in the street after he blocked a road with his lorry at school coming out time. His language and attitude was disgraceful. Mine matched his Grin
Anyhow I tweeted a pic of it to currys and they called me within about 15 mins with an apology. Can't knock them on that occasion, although in general I do try and avoid the store after a Hoover we bought broke. Our fault apparently for hoovering the wrong kind of dust!!

JudgeJodie · 10/09/2013 22:04

Oh and another here for appliances on line. Or my favourite Boots.com. Got a fridge and a dishwasher off them. Next day delivery, cheaper than anywhere else and advantage points. What's not to love!

Piddlepuddle · 10/09/2013 22:18

You could take a leaf out of this guy's book: www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/twitter/10283117/Twitter-user-buys-promoted-tweet-to-complain-about-British-Airways.html

Then again, BA probably give a shit, whereas curry's clearly don't. Another vote for appliances online here by the way - super customer service.

Really hope that some sort of miracle happens and you get it sorted quickly OP

SarahAndFuck · 10/09/2013 22:27

I can tell my Curry's story! I like telling this one almost as much as my SpecSavers story.

Bought a washing machine.

Washing machine broke within warranty.

Curry's arranged an engineer visit.

Engineer never came. Nobody rang to cancel.

Curry's blamed a pregnant employee now on maternity leave for having bad handwriting and the engineer reading the date incorrectly.

Second appointment arranged.

Engineer never came. Nobody rang to cancel.

Third appointment made.

Engineer never came. Nobody rang to cancel.

Fourth appointment made. Engineer came without the parts to fix the machine.

Fifth appointment came. Engineer said parts had not been delivered and so he would not be coming.

I screamed for what felt like several hours.

Engineer arrived with part which had magically appeared and 'fixed' the machine.

Curry's refused to reimburse me for the four appointments I had booked time off work for without a complicated system of proof that involved my manager, his manager, the managing director of the company I worked for, our HR department, their HR department and the discretion of the evil bastard who managed our local branch.

Eventually they gave me a slow cooker and a George Foreman Grill to stop the rage.

We did use them again to buy a fridge freezer from. We stood in the store and ordered it on DH's phone because in store they wanted to charge us an extra £30 for the item and £20 for delivery, while on the internet it was £30 cheaper with free delivery.

I might as well tell it. SpecSavers refused to let me use their toilet when I was eight and a half months pregnant even though my appointment was running half an hour late. They sent me off on a ten minute walk to a shopping centre when they had just seen how long it took me to lurch my way up their staircase. I did go to the shopping centre and then to another opticians.

Gruntfuttock · 10/09/2013 22:36

JudgeJodie "Has anyone tweeted the thread to curry s?"

That's an excellent idea. I'm not on Twitter (tho' I do read a few) so I can't, but I hope someone does.

forumdonkey · 10/09/2013 22:53

Hi OP I can definitely recommend these guys and have used them myself - they have the size you need I think.

Moodykat · 10/09/2013 22:58

Think I have tweeted the thread for you but not entirely sure I understand twitter so may not have done it right!

forumdonkey · 10/09/2013 23:01

Well I never Boots sell them too!!

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 10/09/2013 23:17

We were going to go to Currys tomorrow to buy a new fridge freezer.

Guess what?

Not a fucking chance now.

You have my sympathies and my boycott OP,good luck.

FantaIsFine · 10/09/2013 23:22

OP depending on how SW London you are (I'm Tolworth) A3 Appliances have consistently been good for me www.a3appliances.co.uk/ I've used them for everything!

LEMisdisappointed · 10/09/2013 23:26

just bumping the thread - for google :)

garlicbaguette · 10/09/2013 23:27

Bumping for the sake of this thread Grin

LEMisdisappointed · 10/09/2013 23:28

nice one garlic Grin

SarahAndFuck · 10/09/2013 23:31

Also bumping for that thread. I want to see it in the google search Grin

Moodykat · 10/09/2013 23:34

Currys are crap. We needed new fridge and freezer, and the mood I was in possibly a new vacuum cleaner too. We stood around for an hour with two DS's going nuts and still no-one served us. I asked for help four times to be told that someone would be along "in a minute".
But it was useful to look at the appliances in person before going online to the Boots website and buying them!

RubyRR · 10/09/2013 23:36

How much was it and did you at by credit card? If over £100 take it up with your credit card people, mor elikely to get a refund from them which they pursue Currys for, you have to fill out a form but compared to what you have been through that's not so bad.

RubyGoat · 10/09/2013 23:50

I'll boycott them too. I've got a nasty feeling my washing machine is going to give up soon, & the TV is years overdue. Hoover needs replacing as well... We used Comet last time & I vowed to boycott them after they lost my credit agreement for the fridge & freezer I spent ££££ on, they tried to repossess them even though I paid all payments on time, stupid idiots. Eventually they backed down & paid me compensation for harassment.

ihearsounds · 10/09/2013 23:50

Take your custom elsewhere. They cannot be the only suppliers of worktop dishwashers.
And no you don't have to pay for installation. Installation of what, attaching two hoses that comes with the appliance onto fittings that are already there under your sink.
