Aibu to expect Cunting Currys not to be a complete shower of bastards?

I am so furious I can hardly speak Angry

My 9 month old table top dishwasher went wrong in mid July. As it was less than a year old it was still under warranty. So I contact Currys and an engineer is booked to attend on 15 July.

Engineer couldn't fix it so took it away. Almost 3 weeks later it comes back and it doesn't work. It actually had a new fault despite having been in the workshop for weeks. About a week later another engineer comes out. Still broken, can't be fixed and is condemned. He tells me Currys will arrange a replacement. 3 weeks later NO CONTACT. I email and try to phone but am on hold for ages. Finally get through on 30th August. Item out of stock and won't be in for weeks. I can have a refund of the cost but obviously I have paid for installation etc and I would need to pay again if I went elsewhere.

On Monday I get a call about my email complaint (about a 5 day response time so that's improving). Get more patronising bollocks off the woman on the phone about item out of stock nothing they can do even though it's been weeks and the service has been abysmal. While on the phone I can see my dishwasher for sale on website. She agrees to order it and I will get a call either that day or tomorrow. No call comes but an envelope of receipts arrives on Wednesday. Try to get through on phone but stuck on hold again.

So to today. A text arrives telling me my delivery is coming today. Eventually two guys arrive with enormous box. They take away old dishwasher then wave bye. The box is the width of the kitchen floor and I can't get to the only bathroom and loo (and the baby's just shat all over the high chair but that's not their fault). I ask them where they're going - no installation's been booked.

They take pity on me and unpack it and install it. Except it's not properly installed. It's lurching towards the sink, all the tubes are twisted, there's water everywhere and the electric cable is sitting in the water. They've not turned it on, which is just as well because I suspect there's rather a large risk of electrocution and/or flooding.

There's nothing Currys can do Hmm even though there is a hazard sitting in my kitchen. I am livid.

There have also been missed appointments, missed callbacks and each time I have had to wait in all day because they are whole day appointments. That's 4 days so far because they didn't tell me about the last delivery. Oh and I can't speak to a manager apparently.

Sorry it is epic but I have told you everything to avoid the dripfeed. I have remained calm and polite throughout until the last Kafkaesque phone call (another 20 minutes of my life gone) where they told me there was nothing that could be done today despite there being cables in water and I have two small children at home. I got a bit tearful then Blush

I am thoroughly fed up.

That's disgusting K8. I'd be tempted to tell them unless you sort something out right now I'm off to phone watchdog about your shoddy customer services yet again.

I have a beer. I have earned it and because it's Sol and can be drunk out of the bottle there's no washing up.

I don't have any beer for the delivery guys should they turn up. I will offer tea and use of the loo.

I bet they're delighted to still be working way past clocking off time Hmm

They are a big company who have been publicly named and shamed, I would have thought they would be doing damage control.
Clearly not so therefore they are dodgy cunts whom I shall never buy from. Well I'm sure they don't care a fuck about losing custom judging by the way they have treated you k8.

Have you heard from them? I'm astounded at their lack of service. Shocking!

I was due a call from Natalie at the depot. If I haven't heard back by 6.45 I was to call back. I'm too busy right now. I might try when dh gets home.

Equally I might throw the thing out the front door and demand they come and get it while lodging a claim for damages for breach of contract with the county court.

I am undecided at the moment.

When I was about 8, I took a toy into one of their stores to buy new batteries. The lovely man at the counter took my pocket money and offered to fit the batteries for me. I was delighted. Until I got home and found the toy didn't work. The absolute arse of a man had sold me second hand batteries.

That was 30 years ago. I would never part with my cash with them again.

What a nightmare, as others said I have found that Appliances Online were really good.

Really hope it gets sorted tonight.

He's gone. My third broken dishwasher is here. Apparently loads of them don't work because he's been out to collect loads of them.

He suggests I try "being persistent". I may have said a bad word under my breath.

Poor bloke looked shattered.

At least dh is the one wiping up the dirty footprints off the floor and about to dish up dinner.

I'm going to open the Rioja. I'm supposed to be doing some work later but I feel so wound up I think it will be fairly fruitless.

I would love to travel back in time and thank my pocket money thief. He's saved me a lot of bother.

The CEO needs to see this thread, to see what you've been going through and to see what appalling publicity his company is deservedly getting.

Why am I not surprised to see a 'Curry's is shit' thread. They are appalling.

I am not sure whether the customer service is so appalling because they don't staff their call centres properly, or don't train their staff properly or just don't give a shiny shit about their customers once they've spent their money. Either way, avoid, avoid, avoid.

I'm not quite sure what to do now. I'm an awesome complainer normally because I know stuff and only do it when it counts. I know the Sale of Goods Act, contract law and the power of good and bad customer service being publicised.

And yet, I'm coming up against a wall of cannot-give-a-shitness where the company seem to have a get out by giving me my money back. Even though that leaves me out of pocket on installation and time spent farting about trying to sort it out.

I did once get a nice tame gent at The Guardian to sort TalkTalk out when they thought they were not legally obliged to comply with contract law (and have enjoyed almost free broadband ever since Grin) but I would like to sort it out without resorting to that.

I wonder if their failure to honour their warranty is a breach of contract? Must dig out fine print and check with legal-eagle friends.

Another cheerleader for appliances online.

I'm gobsmacked at the utter incompetence of them I truly am.
How you have not told then to stick it up their arses is beyond me! You are a better woman than me as I would have gone in to full on fishwife mode by now.
