Oh no, apologies. It was a mythical STD. Not a beaten up fanny. Oops. Is thick.

Blue waffle - misogynistic urban myth as revealed by google on more reputable websites!

I'm not disturbed by holes at all. The holey photoshopped eyes were a bit yuck , though!

Not develop it. But plenty people look at the pictures and then never go near a crumpet again.

Why? Why did I do it! Watched the video test and am now terrified of getting huge gaping holes in my fingers!

Not that many spiders. Seriously, the trypophobia pictures aren't that bad (apart from the aforementioned eye ones). The blue waffle picture is a bit sickening.

It's not a phobia like a fear. It's an extreme disgust reaction that has physical and psychological effects. You feel faint, dizzy, sick, skin crawling, shivery and extremely upset and distressed. Once you trigger it the images repeat for hours. It's like intrusive thoughts or OCD like that. It's a genuine phenomenon and it's involuntary. I've always been creeped out by certain types of holes, I can't look at lotus pods when people have them in flower displays etc.

Oh my god. I am actually going to be sick.

Ok, it was photoshopped. Seriously need to get control of my google habit though.

ToysRLuv · 03/09/2013 21:18

Ah, ok, Ehric. I thought it was like an actual fear. Although a fear might well develop following extreme physical reactions.

olidusUrsus · 03/09/2013 21:19

That's what I was thinking Ehric, I was a bit confused because there was talking of people getting phobias from looking at the images which I don't really think is possible. I mean, phobias are inherent, right? RIGHT!? Might ease my way in by looking up lotus pods. Still debating a Google

A phobia is an irrational fear... so you could have a phobia of seeing the thing, because you would fear seeing it because of your reaction to it iyswim... am I making sense>?

Report
ToysRLuv · 03/09/2013 21:23

Yes, that was what I was getting at, Alpaca.

For any of you sufferers, does this manifest as a fear of crumpets, as per Google images?

Ooooh that's really horrible and twitchy making. Eeeeeek!!!!

chillinwithmyyonis · 03/09/2013 21:26

Ok so whats so bad about holes? As in a holey bit of knitting? A net curtain? Or is it like horror film type 'hole', arse hole? I'm still not googling!

ToysRLuv · 03/09/2013 21:27

Crumpets are yum. Glad that there is at least one phobia I definitely don't have.. I have a fear of heights, Claustrophobia and a fear of deep water (even though I'm an excellent swimmer).

Ooooh, crumpets, they're good holes, you can't have a phobia of crumpets, you could always cover up the holes with jam anyway.

Report
nobutts · 03/09/2013 21:28

Oddly crumpets are OK because I can contextualise them..." Its OK they are a bread stuff and belong here' if I didn't know what one was or concentrated on them too long it would trigger a reaction. I once threw up in my mouth because I poked holes in blu tac with a pencil without thinking. I had to hit the blu tac to squash it. It has a profound effect on me but I. Can also see the funny side..hence it is more disgust than fear.

The stuff you get from google really isn't that bad. Just photoshopped fake skin diseases and stuff like that.
