Inspired by the HW thread, I have been thinking about this for a while.

Arthur works for the MoM so wont be on a pittance as a head of department, even a minor one as there would surely be grades?

They eat massive amounts of expensive food having three courses at every dinner, cooked breakfast every day. When they win a load of money, instead of saving it in the knowledge that they have 4 kids still at school they blow the lot on a holiday of a month in Egypt! At the beginning of CoS Mrs W takes some silver sickles and ONE gold galleon from their vault, and then happily blows 1000 galleons on a holiday rather than see them financially secure for the next few years.

Seems to me that the reason their kids are in second hand robes and reading second hand books is because they are shit with money, not that they dont have enough.

Books.....They have to have a new Miranda Goshawk book each year, so when F&G have finished with them they could have passed one to Ron who passed it to Ginny and the older ones shared the remainder if they needed it, which is unlikely. Why have several unused copies of the same book in the family and still buy another one for the youngest student? Same with robes. Rons dress robes are second hand, but Mrs W says that Arthur has some for parties so why not lend him those (with some magically performed alternations if needed) rather than pod out for horrible second hand ones? Actually, thinking further, Mrs W is supposed to be a whizz at household stuff so why doesnt she transfigure the second hand stuff to look better?

They just throw good money after bad!

I'm Molly Weasley too - is that the only outcome? I am loyal, sensible etc, but am not a home maker in any way! Still "not my daughter you bitch" is one of my favourite lines!

BellaTheGooseIsDead · 01/09/2013 20:55

I admitted that I actually hate most people, not all by any means and that I am unsociable and quirky, trust people too much, would prefer a book to a party, low self-esteem - it's a bit odd Confused I don't remember any, "are you downright evil?" questions...

I did like that, "have a biscuit Potter" comment. I know it's said by McGonagall but I can just imagine Snape saying it to Harry on Mumsnet Grin

FrussoHathor · 01/09/2013 20:55

I'm slughorn

BellaTheGooseIsDead · 01/09/2013 20:56

Most of my answers were middling too, hardly any extremes. I didn't even say I hate animals just, "they're okay"

Mind you even The Dark Lord has a pet.

ReturnofSaturn · 01/09/2013 21:01

I got Sirius Black!

soontobeburns · 01/09/2013 21:01

Bella your answers sound similar to mind. I know voldemort and albus where too alike Grin

BellaTheGooseIsDead · 01/09/2013 21:06

I suppose I don't really hate most people, well not actively - I just prefer not to engage with them face to face (autistic spectrum)

I have woefully few people on my Facebook because I keeping culling them for annoying me but obviously like Mumsnetters as I've been here since 2007.

Thanks Albus, that has made me feel a bit better!

LaFataTurchina · 01/09/2013 21:12

I got Molly Weasley as well, I'm happy with that. I think she's great.

KirjavaTheCat · 01/09/2013 21:14

Hermione. I wanted someone evil Sad

hermioneweasley · 01/09/2013 21:16

Kirjava - what did you say to get Hermione? (no particular reason for asking, oh no)

namechangesforthehardstuff · 01/09/2013 21:22

TBH that household is so fucking patriarchal that Arthur is probably keeping back half his salary so that Molly stays barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen where she belongs.

Everytime Harry goes to visit he spends all his time outside playing Quidditch while Hermione and Ginny are helping set the table. Makes me wonder why Hermione spent all that time on rights for house elves when she was being opressed by her creator right there and then... Grin

AthelstaneTheUnready · 01/09/2013 21:23

I'm Hagrid; my opposite is Lavender. I'm happy with that.

KirjavaTheCat · 01/09/2013 21:26

I hate parties and like a good read Grin

AthelstaneTheUnready · 01/09/2013 21:28

Did anyone admit to liking parties? Anyone?

marriedinwhiteisback · 01/09/2013 21:29

Dd was Arthur !!

ReturnofSaturn · 01/09/2013 21:31

I liked parties

AthelstaneTheUnready · 01/09/2013 21:36

And you were Sirius? Ironic. Didn't he spend most of his time hiding in cupboards?

HalfAPeaOneCrumbAndADropOfGin · 01/09/2013 21:42

I think Mrs Weasley was on here a few years back - but flounced after expressing gender disappointment Angry

HalfAPeaOneCrumbAndADropOfGin · 01/09/2013 21:45

Ah just seen that FrussoHathor did the same gag but better...Grin

One does wonder how you'd feel as a mother having a daughter after 50ish attempts only for her to end up in a relationship with Voldy's number one enemy......imagine the IABU!

ChairmanMeoww · 01/09/2013 21:45

Horace Slughorn! With Arthur Weasley opposite.

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 01/09/2013 21:48

Bella, I said almost all the same things - I hate virtually everyone, unsociabe, quirky, prefer a good book and offer Potter biscuits too Wink It would seem my rash impulsiveness saved me from becoming Lord Voldy Grin

racingheart · 01/09/2013 21:50

Ginny Weasley. Opposite was Dolores Umbridge. Good fun. Now DC want to do it but it's late.

Hulababy · 01/09/2013 21:52

I got Remus Lupin (Bellatrix as my polar opposite):

You are Remus Lupin, werewolf and previous Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts. Remus is intellectual, introspective, and humble. Being a werewolf for most of his life, he is prone to shying away from social situations and keeping his emotions hidden. He is usually considerate of others? feelings, but there are times when he is a little too blunt, which makes for uncomfortable situations. Because of his dark secret, he is pessimistic and tends to bring a depressing atmosphere with him. You and Remus are similar in the sense that both of you are much more realistic than idealistic. Focusing on the present is more important to you than fantasizing about the future, especially since your outlook on the future isn't very bright in the first place. Sure, you may hope for a better world, but you know that hoping and wishing only brings disappointment. In fact, your sober nature often makes others wary of your company, which is why you don't have too many close friends. The friends you do have, however, have your utmost loyalty and respect, and they know that they can always turn to you if they need guidance. You?re much more likely to tell someone their faults than their achievements, and you are more concerned with the big picture than you are with details. You are always looking to find a balance, and although you struggle with your inner demons on a daily basis, you yearn to grow more as a person in any way possible.

In short, you are more:

Cautious than impulsive

Mature than immature

Modest than arrogant

Normal than weird

Introverted than extroverted

Snazzyenjoyingsummer · 01/09/2013 22:07

I got Molly Weasley too Hmm with Mundungus Fletcher as my opposite. Bit of a let down really.

And yes, the Weasley household is pretty patriarchal. Molly's Ripley moment doesn't really impact on all the rest of it. Sigh.

BellaTheGooseIsDead · 01/09/2013 22:07

DiseasesOfTheSheep that's good to know!

Grin at offering the biscuit. I can't remember if I did or not, just thought it was funny. I may have said I hated the quiz and its creator because it was too long and I was being called up to put DS to bed
