To ask what you mums who work part time do for a job?

I've been a secretary for a company for nearly ten years now and work 16 hours per week since my maternity leave ended.

The company are moving 15 miles away down the busiest stretch of motorway for miles around so I've started to look for something else

I've sent about 80 cv's and covering letters out but I'm struggling to find part time secretarial work so I think I may have to start looking for something else

Just looking for ideas? This has been my only full time job as I'm 28 so apart from a shop I can't think of anything - not that I'm adverse to working in a shop!

Work for an accountant, have done for 15 years doing peoples accounts and tax. Didn't have any accountancy qualifications either, other than being pretty good with numbers. In the beginning it was term time school hours only, with no questions asked if they were sick (I could take work home). Now I work 4 days a week with less holidays, but more money. Great little job.

Community occupational therapist. Job share, compressed hrs - 18.5 over 2days.

I'm a nurse and work two 12 hour shifts a week.

I work in a care home ( as a chef ) I've found that a lot of moms with young children work as carers as the hours fit in ??

I knew there'd be loads of us therapists/nhs workers. :)

NHS 2 1/2 days over 3 so 8-3. DH does nursery/school drop offs and I collect.

I'm also a PA who landed excellent hours to suit school hours but the down side is I'm glued to my email and phone once I've left at 2.30 and I'm always playing catch up, I love it though.

I would love to move into HR but no part time hours available and I really want to stay with the company I'm at now because they have been so helpful with hours etc.

Saying that I would love to work from home as a virtual PA but wouldn't know where to start!

Agree with pp on checking websites of large employers directly - round here most part time work is in schools, council & universities and they don't seem to advertise in newspaper.

Contact centre, evenings and weekends. No selling, big company with good benefits which make a big difference.

Hooley, can I ask you how many hours you work and is it at a primary or secondary school?

University; FE colleges advertise directly on their owb web pages as well as agencies like Brook Street.

My friend is a SAHM aswelk as a direct sales executive for Barefoot books. She puts in between 10-15 hrs a week ninimun & it suits her perfectly.

2 days a week as a beauty advisor for Estée Lauder in Debenhams. Nice job, great perks but have to work Sundays and occasional late nights

32 hrs, it. Also, any chance you can start ft and ask for pt after 6 mos or work compressed hours? Is tough to find pt salaried jobs. The coffee shop near us is managed by a pt women with 2 dc, that works for her.
