...have some special time with my new Dyson?!

Had one of those boggle-eyed Henry fuckers for years and FINALLY it died a death last week. I was looking for a replacement and thought I'd riskily justify spending more and getting a Dyson.

Well, it's a sucking beauty! Moves like a dream. mu carpets have never been so clean! Henry must have been a lot shitter than i ever imagined. My husband is working late at the moment and so I've taken advantage for some quality time. I am tempted to rub the dog into the living room carpet so I a can use it again and again and again.

I'm a mother sucker, but AIBU?

Btw I bought the miele from Argos with our nectar points. Not just a Miele but a (to all intents and purposes) FREE Miele. nearly cried with the shame of how happy it all made me

SmallFarAway · 28/08/2013 21:18

Do Dysons really die? Please tell me that they do. Mine is a DC0fucking2! With no sign if illness never mind imminent death. It's so ancient I think I should donate it to a museum and upgrade to something that has at least been built in this century.

How can I kill the bastard while making it look like suicide?

LottieJenkins · 28/08/2013 21:22

I have a Dyson allfloors! It is fab. Goes smoothly from my laminate onto carpet!!! Smile

ILetHimKeep20Quid · 28/08/2013 21:23

I love Henry. My first one was rescued from a variety that had closed down so it had put in a hard shift before he came to us.

We were like a retirement home for him.

When he passed on we planted some flowers in him and he guards the front door while his younger replacement took over his duties

ILetHimKeep20Quid · 28/08/2013 21:26

Factory, not variety

dufflefluffle · 28/08/2013 21:29

HATED my Dyson with a passion - was thrilled to replace it with a sweet-faced Henry. 6 years of hoovering bliss with Henry later and we are very happy still.
I threw my Dyson into the dump with great relish.
Three cheers for Henry Wink

LalyRawr · 28/08/2013 21:32

I hate Henry.

He should be ashamed to call himself a hoover.

I want a Kirby. My Foster Mum has one. It has gears, a headlamp, a little section for putting perfume in to fragrance the room as you vacuum and a head massage attachment.

She paid £1500 for it 20 years ago. It gets yearly MOTs and has never once broken.

Are you listening Henry? THAT'S a real hoover.

LalyRawr · 28/08/2013 21:33

15, not 20 years.

Got a little excited there.

ThePonyFormerlyKnownAsTony · 28/08/2013 21:37

My Henry is currently sick, awaiting medical treatment so this thread makes me very upset.
All I want in life is a hoover that lives and sucks. Is that so much to ask?!

LaGuardia · 28/08/2013 21:41

Who buys Dysons? All you see at the council tip is dead Dysons all lined up. Buy a Sebo and see what dirt the Dyson left behind.

SmallFarAway · 28/08/2013 21:46

ThePony, can I interest you in a Dyson? 1 2 careful owners. No service history. Mismatched accessories because they stopped making the original parts years ago but it lives and sucks more's the pity

McNewPants2013 · 28/08/2013 21:47

I have had my dyson longer than i have had DD who is 4. I must have a rare working one lol.
I just treated mine to a spring clean at the state of it.

my mum has gone through at least 10 in that time all different brands.

SirRaymondClench · 28/08/2013 21:49

STOP IT WITH THE SEBOS, MIELES AND KIRBYS!!

I had just been convinced to get a Henry and now you're all confusing me!! Confused

ThePonyFormerlyKnownAsTony · 28/08/2013 21:52

To be honest, I'd take an over-enthusiastic Aardvark at the moment, my carpet (not a euphemism!!) resembles a rubbish tip at the moment.

Woe is me.

DragonMamma · 28/08/2013 22:01

I hate Dyson's.

I have a Miele and have seen the light.

GeneHuntsMistress · 28/08/2013 22:20

Oooh maggietess you're pushing me over the edge..... I think ijust really really NEED one now Wink

(Who knew my life would ever be such that I would be genuinely excited nd lusting after a HOOVER? Isn't middle age fascinating).

Blatherskite · 28/08/2013 22:42

SEBO is my new dream vacuum. As soon as I can kill the Dyson dies, I'm upgrading

PresidentServalan · 28/08/2013 22:59

Boggle eyed Henry fucker?! PMSL!

PresidentServalan · 28/08/2013 23:01

I had a Henry for years - it was left behind in my flat when I moved in. It was awesome - it is the only Hoover I had that died of old age rather than me inadvertently killing it!

NoComet · 28/08/2013 23:19

My Dyson is heavy awkward and I refuse to use it, DH bought the object, it is his problem.

DanFmDorking · 28/08/2013 23:25

Henrys can be easily repaired, dump the Dyson.

HoldItTogether · 28/08/2013 23:42

My Dyson stinks! Who has the time or inclination to clean a cleany thing?

Can you buy a new one just cos your old one smells like a dead cat?

Admiraltea · 29/08/2013 00:18

Dyson's died (4..I was optimistic!) ...Henrietta bought in emergency as cleaners at work were v. negative about dyson's...
Miele then bought as I obviously have an inherent "if it works as well as my amazing washing machine..13 years and counting ...then they can obv make superior vacuums"... and Henrietta is pink and loud and as I thought just a stop gap.
Was v wrong....Miele 2 times repair and henrietta still going though attachments held together with gaffa tape.
Though the Miele looks lovely in the corner and Henrietta is grinning her way through...for useless dead vacuums with aesthetic and snob value the Miele is my ornament of choice.
lub u henrietta

neunundneunzigluftballons · 29/08/2013 00:50

Sps 'thinking about getting another Henry for Henrietta' What about the vows, in sickness and health for sucks sake why don't you just go off and buy her a Dyson or even a Roomba and make poor Henry feel like he was an impotent, box of nuts. You are heartless and Henrietta is worse if she turns her back on Henry in his hour of need and yes Mumsnet HQ that is a personal attack.

SPsTotallyMullerFuckingLicious · 29/08/2013 00:55

Ffs neunundneunzigluftballons he was cruelly taken from us a very long time ago. I'm only now realising Henrietta shouldn't be alone. This is what Henry would have wanted.

PS change your name into one that can be shortened!
