...have some special time with my new Dyson?!

Had one of those boggle-eyed Henry fuckers for years and FINALLY it died a death last week. I was looking for a replacement and thought I'd riskily justify spending more and getting a Dyson.

Well, it's a sucking beauty! Moves like a dream. mu carpets have never been so clean! Henry must have been a lot shitter than i ever imagined. My husband is working late at the moment and so I've taken advantage for some quality time. I am tempted to rub the dog into the living room carpet so I a can use it again and again and again.

I'm a mother sucker, but AIBU?

My heart belongs to Henry.

'sneers smugly at crappy Dyson relegated to garage to do car cleaning stuff'

SirRaymondClench · 28/08/2013 20:02

SP I've only ever used a Henry in an office type environment where the 'carpet' is that wiry tile shizz.
Are they any good on a normal carpet?
I'm so out of date hoover wise (I'm so 1997) Blush

Yamyoid · 28/08/2013 20:03

I'm another one who's Dyson was killed by builders. When. It. Was. New. Angry
Dh wants a Henry. I'm not convinced.

Op, do you live in a soundproof house? My dcs would wake up if I hoovered I reckon.

MollyBerry · 28/08/2013 20:07

No, Miele all the way, who doesn't want a hoover that means honey in Italian!

Pah the english Henry hoover

Maggietess · 28/08/2013 20:08

OP I too am in love my Dyson! I've got one of the handheld cordless jobbies for quick cleans and I swear ive gone from never vacuuming and one of my children once asked "what IS that big noisy thing mummy, how come I've never seen it before" to Dyson-ing the living room and kitchen floors after every meal!

Ridiculously expensive, never spent that much on a hoover before but I don't care, I love it! I reserve the right to curse it on a future thread when it overheats or dies

halfwayupthehill · 28/08/2013 20:09

I love my miele but not the price of their replacement bags..

MrsCampbellBlack · 28/08/2013 20:10

I had a dyson, I then had a henry and now I have a miele. Miele is king.

YouTheCat · 28/08/2013 20:12

YANBU

Can you put my 18 year old dd to bed please? She is driving me insane.

gamerchick · 28/08/2013 20:14

Poor Henry :( I have a harry Grin I want them all.

Mandy2003 · 28/08/2013 20:15

I think you should give Henry a second life by using him as a garden planter!

I love my industrial Henry, the only thing that lets him down is that I bought a set of pattern parts tubes for him and they're too long and the joints are loose. He'd lived in a spray shop before I owned him and arrived with only his flexible hose.

sirRaymond - I use him for domestic Berber style carpet - no problems.

LostMarbles99 · 28/08/2013 20:16

YABU as Dysons are shite and Henry rocks!

HopeClearwater · 28/08/2013 20:18

Henry - only for people who have cleaners and never have to drag the useless things behind them.
Dysons are fab if you keep the filters clean.

HopeClearwater · 28/08/2013 20:19

However, I will be hiding my Dyson from the builders. Thanks for the tip.

candycoatedwaterdrops · 28/08/2013 20:21

YANBU, the best thing I ever did was buy a lightweight Dyson and relegate fucking Henry to the back of the cupboard.

littlewhitebag · 28/08/2013 20:30

I love my Dyson. I spend time almost daily with it and feel sad when i have a day without taking it out its cupboard. I even spend time grooming its little roller picky uppy wheel as the dogs and DD's hair gets all stuck in it which makes it sad and therefore less sucky. I also empty it after every outing to keep it happy. I am that sad devoted to my Dyson

DanicaJones · 28/08/2013 20:38

YANBU at all. I hate my boggle-eyed Henry fucker and I can't wait for it to die so i can justify buying a Miele.

Thepowerof3 · 28/08/2013 20:39

I hate my Dyson and want a Miele

Blatherskite · 28/08/2013 20:42

Enjoy your fortnight before the fucker stops sucking up anything.

I'm on my second and will never buy one again. They are utter crap.

neversleepagain · 28/08/2013 20:45

Our Miele is much loved in this house. I love watching DP vacuum with it I don't vacuum

HillyBillyBoBo · 28/08/2013 20:45

YANBU.

We have three Dysons, the most recent addition to the fleet being a hand-held, which is quite frankly the best gadget we own. DH loves the mini Dyson and the two upright Dysons have lasted for years and are far superior to Henry.

Miele is a great brand, but who wants a Hoover that relies on a bag? You can't stare in wonder at the payload of pubes, dirt and unmentionable grime, which you can with a Dyson.

GeneHuntsMistress · 28/08/2013 20:48

YANBU. When we got our first Dyson both Gene and I argued over who was going to use it. We hoovered the carpet with our Henry and then did the dyson - the amount of stuff that came up made me shudder and give that Henry a bad bad look.

maggietess I am really lusting after the cordless jobby - how long does it last once charged? I'm trying to justify the exorbitant cost, so far the biggest draw is that I will def clean my kitchen floor more if I had one..... Please give me some more ammunition for my credit card Wink

tryasimight · 28/08/2013 20:51

I hated my dyson with a passion and eventually beat it to death basil fawlty stylee with it's own telescopic tube.

I now own a Miele

InvaderZim · 28/08/2013 20:51

Our Dyson stopped sucking then DH took the damn thing apart and cleaned loads of gunk off the main beater bar and it works awesome again!

McNewPants2013 · 28/08/2013 20:55

I love my dyson, it's losing it suction a bit now until a poster pointed out that my filters haven't been done in a very long time.

Maggietess · 28/08/2013 21:11

GeneHuntsMistress .. it lasts around 20 mins which doesn't sound like much but its enough for me to squizz round our 3 bed to do a quick make the house presentable. It's not your deep clean hoover. 20 mins is also longer than I want to spend vacuuming!!

There's a wee hook thing to hang it back on the charge. So I probably mostly do 5 min blasts a few times a day which its brilliant for.

Do it! You won't regret it, i've converted 5 friends and family now (I should be on commission!!)
