Would you leave your baby unattended in their buggy

...while you use the loo?

On another thread I mentioned not being able to get a buggy into a small cubicle and the suggestion was to leave baby outside.

Would I be overly precious in thinking 'No, I wouldn't do that'?

5madthings. Yeah right. You leave your buggy outside and some fuckwit will steal it either to sell or for a laugh. You may well be able to afford to keep buying buggies but I can't. And yes I did read it. And it made me think. It made me think far more than any of the self righteous arseholes who think they can talk to be like I don't give a shit.

Have you read DDD's post, Ilovemyself?

IneedAsockamnesty · 21/08/2013 21:37

Ilovemyself.

You clearly don't get the point.

You don't need any additional facilities you have no legit need at all, your just to incompetent to manage when out and about with your children.

Ilovemyself · 21/08/2013 21:38

Jack365. I would either have to stop going out on my own with all my kids at once or shit myself. Simple as.

Do people genuinely think haranguing Ilovemyself will change their behavior? Literally curious as I just see this argument going round in circles. No one is going to 'win' here.

jacks365 · 21/08/2013 21:40

I suspect that put in the position you would find a way to cope.

"Self righteous arseholes"!Hmm

olidusUrsus · 21/08/2013 21:42

Nah, but it's fun to see him try and justify it to himself, Drop, especially after the "but I raise money. For charity. That's good" line.

GetYourSocksOff · 21/08/2013 21:43

This thread is just bizarre.

I'm not sure if this link is on here already, but StarfishEnterprise linked to it on the other, similar thread.

If you feel angry about this, whichever side you are on, it's not really the other posters who are an issue. It's the facilities, or lack of them, available. If parents are using disabled facilities because the alternatives are so limited, then lets start fighting for better facilities. That anger or frustration should be put to good use. The link is specifically for quality disabled facilities but the actions it suggests can equally be used to make our voices heard for better family facilities too.

Everyone's on the same side. We want somewhere to fulfil our most basic needs or those of the people we care for, without this causing us undue anxiety or inconvenience. Useless I've missed a post, nobody's saying they use the disabled cos it's cleaner and bigger for their shopping and fuck everyone else.

I know it's on AIBU but... Hmm

GetYourSocksOff · 21/08/2013 21:47

Unless, not useless...

jacks365 · 21/08/2013 21:48

We've suggested that getyoursocksoff but he states its not necessary when there are those oh so convenient disabled toilets to use. We just would like him to acknowledge that using the disabled toilets does impact people with a real need.

Dawndonnaagain · 21/08/2013 21:49

dd says Thank you, all.

Ilovemyself · 21/08/2013 21:53

Dropyoursword. Thank you. Yes I would respond very differently. Ddd's post has made me think very hard. But then the angry brigade start up and I think what the fuck. Statements like the last one from olidus prove one thing. They are not interested in the cause they purport to be backing. They just want to wind people up. So well done Olidus. It worked. But I guess it didn't because it does nothing to change my views

And littlemisswisearse. Yes. Self righteous because all you do as go on about how you would never be so nasty and how horrible all the others are for doing what you say is so wrong. Like you are fucking perfect.

Getyoursocksoff. Thanks for that link. I for one will have a look at that link because you are so right. The facilities for parents are shite. But I guess we don't deserve them, after all we are so entitled.

GobbySadcase · 21/08/2013 21:54

Thing is GetYour disabled toilets have been hard fought for already.

Why should we fight again?

If parents want parent facilities then all power to them, but I still won't tolerate abuse of facilities already fought for - the abuse beginning when organisations first put a change table in a disabled facility completely inappropriately.

olidusUrsus · 21/08/2013 21:55

Hmm sure, nail on head. I don't give a damn about accessible facilities for the disabled, nor about keeping the facilities free for the intended users. It's all just to wind you up mate Wink

DropYourSword · 21/08/2013 21:55

Jacks... I don't recall him saying it wasn't necessary. Or that his use of them didn't impact on other people. He says he had and will continue to use them, which is an entirely different thing.

Emilythornesbff · 21/08/2013 21:57

Sadly getyoursocksoff everybody isn't on the same side because not wanting to leave small children unattended is invalidated and precious.

You are right. No one is saying they would use a disabled loo for comfort or looking after their shopping but there's a lot of anguish about and some of it's being directed as hate and anger at anyone who might ever use a "disabled" facility, no matter what the circumstances or details.

jacks365 · 21/08/2013 21:59

It may not have been him who said that they didn't need campaigning for but he has stated several times that his use of disabled has not impacted anyone else

5madthings · 21/08/2013 22:01

You can get buggy locks,or just use a bike lock, we have to do that at the local children's centre.

And if you want better facilities ilove campaign for them, you know like those with disabilities did for years to get facilities that you now feel entitled to abuse.

Most parents make do, its really not that hard,' but if you are struggling then campaign for your own facilities.

littlemisswise · 21/08/2013 22:01

Ilove I don't "go on about how I would never be so nasty" at all. As a disabled person, I am trying to get you, and others, to see why you shouldn't use a disabled toilet. But do you know what? It is pointless, because you are so selfish that nothing will make you see what you are doing is wrong and will change your mind. You even admitted to parking in a disabled space when you nip in to shops. People like you are completely selfish and couldn't give two hoots about anyone but themselves!

DropYourSword · 21/08/2013 22:03

I think everybody needs to stop putting words in peoples mouths. This is obviously a huge issue. Instead of all sitting here throwing insults at each other, why don't we actually take a POSITIVE step and do something about it. If the issue is that there aren't enough facilities that cater for parents with pushchairs then why not start a campaign to address this issue. There's enough keyboard warriors here... Take a positive step!

curlew · 21/08/2013 22:04

"If parents are using disabled facilities because the alternatives are so limited, then lets start fighting for better facilities."

But they're not. They are using them because they think, because the media has told them, that the streets are filled with hordes of marauding baby snatchers. So if they take their eyes off their baby for 30 seconds it will be gone.
Which is patently absurd. Which means they should get a grip, and leave the disabled facitlities for people with disabilities.
