The towel you dry your hands on is probably teeming with germs tbh, unless you change it every time someone uses it.

ImNotBloody14 · 15/08/2013 22:51
Grin

we use microfiber cloths, clean one each time out of a drawer and chucked in the wash basket after each use.

ImNotBloody14 · 15/08/2013 22:53

and the 'guest' hand towel is hung nowhere near the loo that gets flushed with the lid down.

Genuine question for night time none washers: what is it about night time that makes you not wash your hands? Is it because you're tired? Its just so automatic for me that my hands would be washed before I even realised when I'm shattered.

FrankSpenser · 15/08/2013 23:34

Oh right!

I doubt they'd admit not, Everlong, but on here to save face they'll say something along the lines of "what you don't know won't hurt you.. ." or perhaps, "well, it'll hardly kill you to ingest a few wee germs, stop being so obsessive.."

Summat like that!

A bit like the ones saying they scrub up every time they have a wee.

Never believe all you read on the internet Wink

OnTheBottomWithAWomensWeekly · 15/08/2013 23:44

I'm sure you have, everlong. I'm sure we all have. And wee survived!

saulaboutme · 16/08/2013 01:17

Purleeease! Are you serious?

YABU...

loopydoo · 16/08/2013 01:31

Tbh, unless you are not going to touch the flush, toilet door, taps and exterior door in a public loo then washing your hands in there isn't going to make that much difference either!

I do wash my hands but can understand why the OP might not all the time.
What I don't understand is the person who said above somewhere about germs passing through toilet paper??? What......dry toilet paper? Do you think germs have mystical powers that they can migrate through totally dry toilet paper?
I actually think though that you're more likely to get germ from touching sanitary ware than you are getting poo or wee on your skin.....unless you are really bad at effective wiping and only use one sheet of loo paper Grin

Lazyjaney · 16/08/2013 07:47

Some of us manage not to pee on our hands in first place Grin

Home and where it's obviously clean I'm not that bothered, skanky public loos more so, imo more important to wash hands before preparing food.

I think there is massive over panic about germs in general, therevis an increasing body of research thatbwe are too clean now and don't build up resistances.

captainmummy · 16/08/2013 08:08

Loopy - but when you've finished wiping, the toilet paper is eerm well, wet! I use 3 sheets of a good brand, (4 for a poo!) and yes they are wet when I've finished

Am i doing it wrong? Grin

DiamondDoris · 16/08/2013 08:18

A lot of men (well, the ones I've known) only use ONE square of toilet paper at a time for poo wiping. That is disgusting.

Wuxiapian · 16/08/2013 08:42

YABU.

Only takes a few seconds.

nameuschangeus · 16/08/2013 08:51

Yabu.

I'm always shocked how many people don't wash their hands in a public toilet too. It's disgusting.

LeBFG · 16/08/2013 08:52

Sometimes I don't understand MNers. The thread about showering every day vs flannel at sink some days was much less divided (almost everyone showers or baths every day) than this thread. I'm surprised there are so many people who don't wash their hands.

(As you asked) for me hand washing is a reflex I don't even think about. Mind you, lots of blokes pee outside and I don't see them rushing to the basin to wash afterwards Hmm.

IneedAsockamnesty · 16/08/2013 08:53

Hand washing is one of the best defences against thread worms.

Thread worms are irritating hard to get shot of and not very much fun.

Lots of people clearly have no idea that in the average school class over a third of the kids will have thread worms at any time.

I have kids who attend school lots of people that come I to my house have kids as do people I socialise with and I'm pretty sure lots of strangers who use public loos do as well. That's makes me actively want to wash my hands and not view it as a chore
