To invite you to reveal the 'solutions' to the fictional character thread

Following on from ProudAs's wonderful fictional parents thread I am dying to know what some of the novels, plays and films that I don't recognise are.

Having stayed up far too late last night trying to work some of them out, I thought I'd start a 'solutions' thread separately as not to spoil the original. (Hope you don't mind ProudAS!).

I invite you to put me out of my misery! I managed to get a decent English Lit degree but clearly learnt nothing...!

To get things going, mine are easy, but are:

Sleeping Beauty
Ursula Bear
Dirty Dancing

It's going to be a faff fishing through to find the one you're looking for, but I guess it'll work if you're desperate.

Mine were:
Harry Potter (Hermione)
Venetia by Georgette Heyer

Yonionekanobe · 15/08/2013 08:50

Thank you!

They can be matched quite quickly with 'ctrl + f' on PC or posted by search.

Yes, I agree, I wanted to know these too! Indeed, I was tempted to write the solutions with my own items. And yes, easy to find the posts concerned, searching with Ctrl-F.

Mine were:

  • Emil gets into mischief
  • Thomas the Tank Engine (Old Iron)
  • The Wizard of Oz (specifically afterwards, in the film Return to Oz)
  • The story of little suck-a-thumb (in the book Struwwelpeter)
  • Puddle Lane
  • Reply to "The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4"

Mine was the Cat in the Hat.

So far I've replied to the AIBUs for Venetia, Busman's Honeymoon (with refs to other DLS Harriet Vane novels) and the Bible (Genesis ch. 1).

Oh, I'd forgotten this one - I also tried starting a POAS for Arwen from the Lord of the Rings, but no one picked up on it Sad.

I am loving Molesworth, Flashman, Pride and Prejudice, and of course the Naughty Norman as Fireman Sam's bastard posts!
