To invite you to reveal the 'solutions' to the fictional character thread

Following on from ProudAs's wonderful fictional parents thread I am dying to know what some of the novels, plays and films that I don't recognise are.

Having stayed up far too late last night trying to work some of them out, I thought I'd start a 'solutions' thread separately as not to spoil the original. (Hope you don't mind ProudAS!).

I invite you to put me out of my misery! I managed to get a decent English Lit degree but clearly learnt nothing...!

To get things going, mine are easy, but are:

Mine were Tom's Midnight Garden and The jolly Postman.

Mine was Harry Potter (from viewpoint of Cedric Diggory's parents).

I've lost count of the number of Chalet School mentions - all terrific! I'm really enjoying the Shakespearean ones too. Invidious to mention any one post on that thread in particular, though, as the general standard is v. high!

Mine were: Lorna Hill's Saddler's Well's books (Veronica's Aunt June)
and The Chalet School (successor to Miss Annersley and Miss Wilson).

Mine were: The Faraway Tree series (but that one was obvious) and Forever by Judy Blume

Another Harry Potter one (Professor McGonagall).

Mine was charmed life by the immortal Diana wynne jones. I also responded to one about buffy the vampire slayer and another about eight days of Luke (going to Scarborough) which is also by Dwj. And someone else did "the ogre downstairs" by Dwj as well (the one about giving dsc a chemistry set).

Mine was The Adventures of Tom Sawyer from the perspective of Aunt Polly.

...except I made an error as Sid was Tom's half brother, not his cousin!
