Just for example, and it annoys me every time I hear it,

Both Nirvana and Malcolm in the Middle were not big when you were little.

Nirvana was big in the late 80's/early 90's

MitM started in 2000.

Rage

Catgirl - I thought it was 'city can't hold us'! I must be losing my hearing!

Tallalime · 15/08/2013 10:42

Oh yes united and don't get me started on people in their teens/twenties releasing an autobiography Angry

How did Nirvana tour in the 00's, Cobain had been dead nearly 10 years then Confused

Lisa Stansfield whines about how her baby has gone away and she has no idea when (how can she not know WHEN??) or why.

But then reveals that she knows EXACTLY why he left - she reels off a list:

They had a quarrel
She let herself go
She said nasty things
She did too much lying
Wasted too much time
He was nice to her but she was weak (implying she was unfaithful)
He gave reasons why he should go.

I think he's better off without her.

YoniBottsBumgina · 15/08/2013 11:07

Talking about Robbie, what on earth is his latest song about?

Hey, ho, here she go
Either a little too high or a little too low
Got no self-esteem and vertigo
'Cause she thinks she's made of candy

WTF??

WilmaFingerdoo · 15/08/2013 11:12

Babe by Take That

"Where were you now?"
"Was you gonna tell me in time? "

Just fucking what Mark oddlittlebabyman Owen

UnitedZingDom · 15/08/2013 11:17

talla I almost added the autobiography thing!
ridiculously obvious, money grabbing, strike the iron while it's still hot - gives me the rage!

no self-esteem or vertigo, she thinks she's made of candy

dunno. maybe she's shy and short and has a phobia about being outside?
sugar dissolves in water- so if you are made of candy you should stay indoors in case it rains?

it's the laying bricks in Brixton that got to me. Robbie is such a wordsmith!Grin

Tallalime · 15/08/2013 11:22

Wasn't Father and Son, Cat Stevens?

I love that song.

Aaahh, you spotted the irony. Well done, I thought it wasn't obvious enough.

And anyway, the same situation didn't stop the Manic Street Preachers (or Mayhem).

Tallalime · 15/08/2013 11:29

True, but there are some bands/groups where a member dies and they keep touring and I kind of think perhaps they shouldn't call themselves 'X' any more because when you hear 'X' you automatically think 'dead member'

I feel the same way about Queen.

Hey, you, get off of my cloud.

Lovibg this thread, particularly the steps misheard lyrics! Saw an article on bbc news website recently about misheard lyrics:

Elton john......goodbye yellow pricked toad......

SinisterSal · 15/08/2013 12:11

'Someone Left The Cake Out In The Rain'
I had heard this was about a miscarriage, back when they had to euphemistic about things like that. Don't know if it'd true but always get a bit Sad when I hear it.

MissFenella · 15/08/2013 12:55

anything by the stranglers

Secretswitch · 15/08/2013 15:00

Dont believe everything you breathe
You get a parking violation
And a maggot on your sleeve
Beck- Loser

Wallison · 15/08/2013 15:19

I've posted about this before, but just to make it even worse, I was reliably informed that the actual lyric is not "Looking in your big brown eyes" but "big brown eye" singular ie looking at the girl's bumhole.

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts · 15/08/2013 15:25

My goat was well and truly gotten by:

"WHOOOOAAAA-OHHHHHH
Your sex is on FIIIII-IIIIRE"

Um. What?

Winter123 · 15/08/2013 16:02

Smite probably in relation to a very nasty STD... Grin

lifesgreatquestions · 15/08/2013 16:38

Smite Apparently the sex on fire bit was a joke and they were surprised people took it seriously, they think it's hilarious that crowds sing back at them about their sex being on fire!!!

lifesgreatquestions · 15/08/2013 16:39

He was on strong pain killers when he wrote that song btw!

UnitedZingDom · 15/08/2013 16:55

have some Cake

differentnameforthis · 17/08/2013 02:43

MrsHoarder

Pink's song makes perfect sense to me. I have been with dh for almost 25yrs. Sometimes he is an arsehole & I would love to slap him, but mostly he is the love of my life.

I don't think it is dysfunctional at all. I wouldn't be without him a lot of the time, doesn't mean I don't want to kill him a small amount of the time too.

Sparklymommy · 17/08/2013 09:21

Smite was just about to bring that one up! You beat me to it.

Also as much as I love queen the entire song Bohemian Rhapsody makes about as much sense as a chocolate teapot. Gunpowder and Gelatine always gives me the rage too!

alimac87 · 17/08/2013 10:17

Calvin Harris and his glottal stop, gets me every time:

'I know this crazy life can be a bi'er pill to swallow
So forge' about tomorrow
Tonigh', we're drinking from the bo'll'

BOTTLE. BOTTLE FFS. T. T.

AND it sounds very expensive and unhygienic.

SPBisResisting · 17/08/2013 13:24

this isn't illogical as such but:
"He's got a daughter he calls Easter"
You mean that's her name?
"She was born on a Tuesday night"
I can't think of any fact less interesting
