been watching 'The men that made us thin' and am simply overwhelmed.

So diets don't work....most people end up heavier than if they had not dieted at all...one guy was like "well duh! if they worked we would lose our customers"....another wrote a book aimed at teenage girls including the advice to " buy scales and keep them secret from your parents"

The constant stream of adverts aimed at middle aged women are seen by children who by age 6-7 have self-esteem issues and can quote the number of calories in most foods...

My evil-ometer is broken.

Ive tried that too Makes no difference.

Darkesteyes · 06/04/2014 21:41

I did just that and gained half a pound. i just have to accept that everybody loses weight differently because we are not one big homogenous mass so that one diet can suit all. We are all individual Another class member has done exactly the same as me and lost twice as much but ive still got k cup boobs. i now weigh the same as i did in 2008. I have an unworn bra i was fitted for back then still sitting in its box with price tag still on. and haaaaa guess what .....it doesnt fit the cups are now too small even though i weigh exactly the same now as i did back then. When i have all my syns i gain or stay the same.

Sorry posted too soon Was thyroid tested about 5 yrs ago and it came back normal

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts · 06/04/2014 21:51

Get your thyroid and vitamin D checked. I had similar difficulties despite fastidiously watching what I ate and how much I exercised. After 6 months I hadn't even lost half a stone. Turns out i have a vitamin d deficiency which, I read somewhere, can inhibit weight loss. Two months into using prescribed supplements and I've lost 10lbs.

Darkesteyes · 06/04/2014 21:58

Didnt think of that Thankyou Smite Thanks

UPDATE I used to be 21 stone and originally lost 10 stone Over the years i gained 4 back and have recently lost 2 and a half stone. But my weight has stuck and doesnt appear to be moving despite sticking to the slimming world plan. for over a year. I folllow it STRICTLY.

I did have a few days off at xmas My last sausage roll was 28th December My last bag of crisps was on New Years Eve. People in RL around me are beginning to get worried because apparently i shouldnt be able to remember dates like that.
For every obese person there is another overweight person FUCKING KILLING themselves to fit an ideal. Im not the only one There is another woman in my class sticking to plan and struggling. The mental stress this is causing me is making me more unhappy than my weight ever did.

slimming world have closed fb groups They tell us they are closed to protect our privacy. BULLSHIT.

Our sw consultant recently posted a picture saying that it was 19 weeks till Christmas and if you lose 3 pounds a week you could lose 5 stone + in that time Fast weight loss is fucking dangeous and can cause all sorts of health problems I ended up with gallstones the first time. My surgeon and two doctors told me it was caused by losing weight too fast.
Some of us just cant get down to a very low weight no matter what we do. But its not really about being healthy is it Its about being slim

Blueandwhitelover · 02/09/2014 08:34

I'm on lots of sw fb groups :-)

I wont link to the article, as it's in the Daily Heil, but the delightful Katie Hopkins has now decided to deliberately put on four additional stone in order to demonstrate how easy/feasible it is to lose it via hard work and self-discipline.

Hopkins does seem to be utterly derranged; apparently, she was force-feeding herself 6,000 calories a day in order to put this weight on. She's vowed to lose all the weight without following a formal diet, relying on only her own determination. The obligatory TV programme and book deal will no doubt follow.

You have to admire her willingness to put her money where her mouth is, even if this does seem like a case of extreme pedantry. Half of me wants her to succeed, to prove her point; the other half would be tickled with schadenfreude if she were stuck at that weight for good, thus disproving her thesis.

I suspect the general MN opnion will not be in her favour!
