How much money does David Beckham need (FFS)?

I keep seeing the advert Dave's doing for Sky (and quite like it actually, love the track, and the suggestion he's got a messy kitchen Grin As if.) and wonder why he bothers.

He's getting £20m for a five year contract with Sky, I know the bloke's got to feed himself/clothe his family, and his security bill must be astronomical, but he must have shed loads anyway (going on my imagined acquaintance with his financial affairs) is he still spurred on by the cash do you think?

Or does he just want be useful, after a career of kicking a bloody ball around because it's portrayed as getting children involved in sport, and if the cash is there why the fuck not?

Maybe he just wants to get as much security as he can for his children?

Anyone know him intimately and willing to dish?

(I'd be satisfied with posters making it up as per MNs usual rules of posting)

I think all those tattoos are awful, particularly the ones on his head/ neck.

With all his money why don't they look good?

Where's the colour and definition?

He just looks like a badly drawn Smurf now.

Pagwatch · 10/08/2013 00:15

It's his job isn't it?
Football and advertising.

Who has stopped doing their job because they have enough money - ever?

Salmotrutta · 10/08/2013 00:17

I think he looks might fine too...

And I am so not a Beckham "fan".

Thing is, he's got a contract with Sky so they will just use him for adverts as much as possible.

A footballers career is pretty short in the grand scheme so good on him for maximising his earning potential!

He has to keep Posh in crap hats after all.

HoneyDragon · 10/08/2013 00:17

My Dad, Pag.

HoneyDragon · 10/08/2013 00:18

I enjoyed writing that pithy little post Grin

Salmotrutta · 10/08/2013 00:20

That's true Pagwatch - film stars and musicians don't stop working once they have "earned enough".

Salmotrutta · 10/08/2013 00:21

Is your Dad fabulously rich HoneyDragon?

I'm well nosey me! Grin

Sparklingbrook · 10/08/2013 00:21

Vicki probably told him to. He does nothing for me at all.

Pagwatch · 10/08/2013 00:22

Pithy

Dh is thinking of retiring soon at about 46. I bet he won't because he will think of all the years ahead and how he really dosen't want to stop planning stuff and one is a longtime retired....

AgentZigzag · 10/08/2013 00:22

Arf at badly, but very expensively, drawn smurf Grin

I'm not a tatt enthusiast, but they look OK on him.

Maybe it's the same thing that's driven him in his 'career' so far which keeps him working? He wouldn't have got as far as he has if he was a workshy layabout, the type who'd take up the opportunity for the sun soaked lifestyle of the rich and lazy.

I like what I've seen of him (however true that is) especially since his voice has deepened a tad.

More to the point, how old was your dad Honey?
Was he late thirties?

AgentZigzag · 10/08/2013 00:26

I've had times when I haven't had any specific focus (job/studying) to make getting out of bed seem a worthwhile effort, and it is fucking tedious.

It just looks like it'd be a lot of fun having the cash to not have to worry about cash.

I suppose once you've bought everything you could ever dream of the excitement wears off, but if it has for him, why work to get more?

HoneyDragon · 10/08/2013 00:26

No Salmo, but they aren't uncomfortable. Grin

At 48 he went fuck it. Added up his assists, decided to do two more years and then quit as he had enough cash.

Bridgette Bardot retired in her thirties though? And she's sort of a female Beckham.

AgentZigzag · 10/08/2013 00:27

And is he any good at football Honey?

Sparklingbrook · 10/08/2013 00:28

Isn't it all about keeping Brand Beckham in the headlines so that VB can sell dresses?

Salmotrutta · 10/08/2013 00:28

Good on your dad Honey. Grin

VestaCurry · 10/08/2013 00:28

He's overdone the tattoos, wonder what they'll look like when he's old and wrinkly Grin

Pagwatch · 10/08/2013 00:29

Yeah but BB liked animals and hated people. DB seems quite happy doing his thing.
I am hoping DH does not retire this year.i may kill him if he was at home everyday..

HoneyDragon · 10/08/2013 00:29

No ZigZag. My mum set fire to his football boots when he was thirty and bought him some golf clubs.

TSSDNCOP · 10/08/2013 00:30

I can see past the tats, dudes got great form in the pants dept Grin

One days work, one zillion quid, on telly every ad break.

Pays for the flights.

I heart the Beckhams.

HoneyDragon · 10/08/2013 00:31

Pag.

It took my mum a long time to adjust. By adjust I mean, phoning me 5 times a day for the first three years hissing "I'm going to kill the fucker, I really am".

Salmotrutta · 10/08/2013 00:33

I'm dreading DH retiring (he can retire in about 5 years).

He wants to buy an RV and travel round Europe! Shock.

Thankfully (and yes, i mean that!) I have to work for longer than him to optimise my pension.

Such a shame I won't be able to join him on his European RV travels... Hmm

Pagwatch · 10/08/2013 00:33

Yy honey - that's exactly the type of debacle I anticipate .
I will have to go out ever such a lot. He is too young for a shed.

HoneyDragon · 10/08/2013 00:37

They are never two young for sheds Confused dh has three.

Hell, Ds has one and he's 10.

I like dhs best as it has a bolt on the outside and the inside. Sometimes I use the outside bolt.
