The Duke and Duchess gave their occupation as prince and princess of the United Kingdom on the birth certificate register

Thought their occupation was helicopter rescue pilot and housewife

"Princess of England" as an "Occupation" is ridiculous. The father's occupation is an RAF helicopter pilot. Prince, isn't an occupation.

These are titles not occupations. Or have I got this wrong?

The fact that so many people believe in conspiracies like 9/11 and the Moon Landings is no longer a surprise given the number of people on this thread and elsewhere who have said "it is a fake" based on their incorrect 'knowledge'!

You are quite right, I'm totally with you on this - it is parochial, inaccurate and bloody irritating. Why is it only English people who do this, I wonder? You never hear people from any other country - even the ardent royalists - saying Queen of Scotland or Princess of Canada or whatever when talking about the royal family Angry

Well the box is a bit short for 'Prince/Princess of The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland' which is what they legally are... and they are a Prince and Princess of England as well I think?

Actually sparkle the box coped quite well with princess of the UK. It was the OP that mentioned princess of England. Perhaps it should have said "princess of perth" that's equally true. FFS.

This really rankles - I lost count of the number of times I heard broadcasters and interviewees discussing the birth of the future King of England.

Perhaps SirChenjin they are hedging their bets in case the other counties of the UK have gained independence before he comes to the thrown Grin.

Can see why it pisses you off, just made me giggle that they might be quite accurate to think he wouldn't be King of Scotland !

I think I feel sorry for poor Peter Phillips: Prince George is not the Queen's first great grandchild as his daughters are also great grandchildren. The press seem to have forgotten about this.

My local radio station kept saying that Edward's children, Lady Louise and her brother, were the other great-grandchildren. Drove me mad! I should've phoned in.

pussycatwillum, I just felt that a lot of reporters on the BBC and the papers including the Torygraph referred to him as the Queen's first great grandchild. Of course he is the first great grandson though.

Savannah and Isla are Peter and Autumn's daughters.

I think that it shows how out of touch they still are if they think that anything either of them have done in the course of Royal duties counts as occupation!!

The birth certificate looks really badly done, like it wasn't planned out. They look like they ran out of room in some places and its all squashed in. Shame the registrar didn't have lovely handwriting. ( I felt the same about my marriage cert and DD's birth cert). The registrar made a mistake on our marriage cert just crossed it out and put a scribble signature next to it.
