AIBU?

To think you don't need 4 eggs and 7 slices of ham to make an omelette for one person???

This seems excessive to me... No-one needs that much in one omelette... Surely 2 eggs and 2 slices of ham would be fine?

There's confusion here NeoMaxi - Bridget was attacking GrumpyOldBat, who wasn't the OP. GrumpyOldBat is the only one working in her household, they are on a very tight budget, her DH refuses to eat vegetarian meals to try and save money, she does all the shopping and cooking as well as and it ends up that she gives him food off her plate and goes hungry herself.

Bridget, have you understood that PenguinBear started the thread with the omelette complaint, and you are attacking grumpyoldbat?
For something she hasn't done?Confused

I feel i need to shout that bridget whatever her name is, is entirely unjustified in her attack on grumpy, she didn't start this thread. Her husband currently eats entirely what he wants and her bloody share, so how on earth is that transformed by your strange mind into her depriving him of food. I am actually very annoyed now.

She is not the op!!

What is the problem with giving more food to your DH??!
Afterall, as per the nhs website,

An average man needs around 2,500 calories a day to maintain his weight. For an average woman, that figure is around 2,000 calories a day. These values can vary depending on age and levels of physical activity, among other factors.

Lovingmybabies,

Do you know what 500 calories look like?

CorrineFoxworth · 02/08/2013 20:00

LadyMilford perhaps expat was using that phrase because she has had recent experience of people in the death zone? If you are who I think you are, you know perfectly well what I am talking about and have hit a record low with your fucking lolling, even for you.

500 calories... maybe two pints of lager and a bag of pork scratchings?

LadyMilfordHaven · 02/08/2013 21:34

no corinne - she was talking about the death zone on mountains ffs

Expat and I are fine

Report
LadyMilfordHaven · 02/08/2013 21:35

less wine maybe?

"People climbing in the Death Zone need that number of calories. "

CorrineFoxworth · 02/08/2013 21:38

Well then, I apologise - massive misunderstanding on my part. People on chemotherapy were also given as an example so I jumped to conclusions not knowing about mountains!

I did appreciate the joke about texting the DW though whoever you are Grin

No, I think I need more wine. I hadn't started when I posted that.

500cals is

A latte and just over 3 digestives without choc

Or 2 shop brought indervidual apple pies.

Or 3 quarters of a shop brought beef Cornish pasty

Or Pre packed BLT on white bread.

Or can of none diet mango rubicon fizzy and a shop brought banana pancake.

Or a can of coke and mars bar and 3 jelly babies.

What is it in actual food? I've been clearing out my Mum's kitchen cupboards and found an old 1000 calorie day diet plan from the eighties. Seems a bit low to me and unhealthy in that as long as one stays within the limit it can be crap all the way.

remember the Hip and thigh diet

we are less gullible now.. although... low carb/fasting?

This thread is a bit odd IMHO.
I read it at the start as a light-ish rant.."bloody DH has eaten all the effing ham! Greedy sod!" a bit annoyed, but not about to LTB.

Now poor grumpy'sgetting a lashing for ..... Well, I can't see what she's done.
Well stop it grumpy. OK. Just stop it. Wink

1 slice of bread is about 100 cals, so is a banana, and an egg.

In the ballpark way that 'a mile' is 'my house to the ring road', 500 calories is 'a light lunch' IMO.

IneedAsockamnesty · 02/08/2013 23:38

That would very much depend on exactly what sort and how large portions are and what not corrine.

Give m some examples of what type of food your meaning because my brain is currently suffering from a distinct lack of imagination or even the ability to think.

Well my suggestion would then be that he gets his share of the food budget and does his own food shopping and if he is still hungry after that then it's tough fucking tits as the rest of the food in the house will belong to grumpy and her dc.
Because in essence, what you are saying is that grumpy should break her back and her mind trying to budget and shop for her family, go without herself so that her husband can have more and that her husband should just be able to undo her hard work by munching his way through whatever he feels like and she has no right to be upset about this and if she does get upset she is controlling and abusive.
You are off your fucking rocker love.
