To not fancy Brad Pitt or George Clooney and other cliches of our time

This is meant to be light-hearted and if you have an enormous crush on either (or both) of these fine actors, then fair play to you but am I alone in thinking that a lot of lazy, cliched chick lit presumes that just cos you're a heterosexual woman in your 40s you're automatically gagging for these two? Feel free to add your own most hated cliche, chick lit or otherwise.

Hugh Jackman is married with a wife and children he could sit on my bus anytime though going to see wolverine next week I cant wait Grin

cushtie335 · 28/07/2013 17:20

Salbertina I knew there had to be one of you out there!! :)

Alconleigh · 28/07/2013 17:29

Yes he is, but the stories have been on Popbitch for absolutely years, and obv their word is gospel Grin

Treagues · 28/07/2013 17:31

Fassbender has mean features and looks soulless.
(Possibly have been influenced by watching Shame.)

LadyBryan · 28/07/2013 17:33

I never fancy all the people who one is "supposed" to fancy. I never have really.

But I'm pleased to say that the guy I fancy is far, FAR more embarrassing than any yet shared on this thread. Is there a smug face??

Or maybe Crown for, shall we say eccentric, taste in men

Ezio · 28/07/2013 17:35

I swear i will fight anyone for Jason Isaacs, i really mean it Grin

cushtie335 · 28/07/2013 17:35

The crown isn't a clue is it? Please don't say Princes Charles, or worse, Prince Andrew (boak, retch). Come on LadyBryan, you have to tell us now.

OP posts:
Ezio · 28/07/2013 17:37

Cushtie, i must confess a crush on Prince Andrew about 14 years ago.

Im over it now.

LadyBryan · 28/07/2013 17:40

Lol no it most certainly isn't a royal.

Cough Daniel Barenboim Cough

Blush

He turns my insides to mush

cushtie335 · 28/07/2013 17:40

Praise the Lord for that Ezio. So glad you have recovered from this temporary insanity :)

LadyBryan you win the weird crush prize by a country mile. I had to google him as I didn't recognise the name, but the face seems familiar. That really is an ahem, eclectic choice.

OP posts:
Ezio · 28/07/2013 17:45

Cushtie, i was 16 at the time and had daddy issues, thats my excuse and im sticking with it.

OrlaNuttin · 28/07/2013 17:47

Prince Andrew - I now officially do not want my tea!

Benedict Cumberbatch, so charismatic, I absolutely would.
Also, Nathan Fillion ( and separately, Captain Malcolm Reynolds).
Can't bear Brad Pitt, he's a terrible actor, so self-righteous and looks like a tramp. Punching above his weight with Angelina imo.
George Clooney - well, maybe, but only in the ER days.

Another vote for Hugh Jackman here. Google Hugh Jackman, Neil Patrick Harris duet - it's very funny. Actually, let's add NPH to the list (in my dreams I'm sure he could be turned!)
I also think Colin Morgan is very very beautiful, though he's almost uncomfortably young for me to be thinking that about!

squoosh · 28/07/2013 17:48

Ezio how can you go from Prince Andrew (!!) to Jason Isaacs?

I don't want to be unkind but I'm revoking your right to fancy Jason Isaacs, I don't want to have his sexiness tainted by association with the Worst Royal of all.

Shame on you!

Ezio · 28/07/2013 17:49

Squoosh, i grew up i swear, i've had a decade long crush on Jason, you wont stop me now.

SassySpice · 28/07/2013 18:01

Another vote for The Fassbender,
also
Josh Holloway (Lost)
Mark Ruffalo in anything
Viggo Mortensen (as Aragorn, Lord of the Rings)
Cam Gigandet (as James in Twilight)

squoosh · 28/07/2013 18:03

Ok Ezio I'll allow you to continue in that case, I've only liked Isaacs since he's been in that detective programme.

racmun · 28/07/2013 18:10

I agree I don't see the attraction in GC or BP and never have. I also don't get the swooning over Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom.

For me it's Daniel Craig and my absolute favourite is Mark Wright from Towie he is just absolutely gorgeous. Lucky Michelle Keegan!!!!!

motherinferior · 28/07/2013 18:14

OK, as I'm being nice (and have had a glass of wine) you can have Klepto Alan and I'll keep the divinely filthy-mouthed (fnar) Capaldi. Deal?

TallulahBetty · 28/07/2013 18:19

Danny Dyer. I actually thought i'd got the wrong name when i googled to see what the fuss was all about.

emmaliz · 28/07/2013 18:19

I don't get why everyone seems to fancy Ryan Gosling

Still18atheart · 28/07/2013 18:37

John Travolta - He was HOT in Grease and Saturday Night Fever but went down hill from the mid 80s imo

YouMakeMeWannaLaLa · 28/07/2013 19:32

Patrick Swayze, Keanu, Leonardo, Pitt, Gere, Travolta...don't get any of them...and dyu know what they all have in common? Tiny eyes. Like two raisins pushed in dough.

Never got Mel Gibson or Depp either but Dr. Doug Ross featured in a few of my early teenage daydreams and Costner as Robin Hood often had cameos.

My ultimate love is Joaquin Phoenix. We had a bit of a rough period a couple of years ago with the beard and the hiphop but we pulled through and are stronger than evet Grin

GameSetAndMatch · 28/07/2013 19:36

ooh, most of the guys in Merlin, YY.

and Jon Richardson and Rhod Gilbert make me go all squooshy inside too!

something about Peter Capaldi too. and Arthur Darvill!

-goes off to take a cold shower-.

deleted203 · 28/07/2013 19:42

I'm a heterosexual woman in her 40s - and I don't fancy either of these two. I never went for the pretty boys, I'm afraid. Clooney is way to smooth for my tastes.

(I like a bit of rough)
