AIBU?

To not fancy Brad Pitt or George Clooney and other cliches of our time

This is meant to be light-hearted and if you have an enormous crush on either (or both) of these fine actors, then fair play to you but am I alone in thinking that a lot of lazy, cliched chick lit presumes that just cos you're a heterosexual woman in your 40s you're automatically gagging for these two? Feel free to add your own most hated cliche, chick lit or otherwise.

I don't like pretty boys or suave men. When I was a teenager I did fancy Tom Cruise (especially in Taps when he was psychotic) until I found out that he was about 5' tall. I like big guys, preferably moody and with issues, they need to have dark hair and dark eyes and really they need a good shaggy beard. In gay terms, classic bears.

Like Kris Kristopherson in the 70s. I really liked Aragorn too, but not Viggo Mortensen - and they'd both need to be a good six inches taller in real life - why are actors so bloody short!

In the 90s dh and I enjoyed watching pro-wresting, and some of those guys really did float my boat (physically, I suspect they were roided up prats in real life). Kevin Nash from the Outsiders was 6'7" of beardy beefcake to me Grin

I don't think Brad Pitt was especially handsome when he was younger and the idol of many but he's definitely improved with age IMO. Always thought GC was devilishly handsome - can't wait to see what the children he and his lovely wife produce will look like. Lucky buggers! :)

I've never seen the attraction with George Clooney, either. Just - meh.
Same with Daniel Craig coming out of the sea in just his trunks. No thanks,

Alan Rickman or Sean Bean on the other hand.... sigh Smile

I don't like the way so many of the big name hunks seem to really fancy themselves and take themselves so seriously. I don't suppose it's a surprise but they look like they spend way too much time on their looks. I just don't find that an attractive trait (in men or women) the sparkly white fake looking teeth are particularly unattractive.

Even when they work out they end up with stereotypical 'hunky' bodies that do nothing for me. Give me a naturally fit farmer/bin man type body anyday.

I'm sure if a normal blokey builder turned up with the face of one of these guys I'd be beside myself.

Not a Clooney or pitt fan, spent most of troy wishing they gave more screen time to the lovely sean bean.

Another vote for michael fassbender and hugh jackman, beautiful beautiful men.

Hugh Grant when he's being mean in bridget jones diary.

And since nobody's Johnny lee miller, I'll have him

I find them all quite repulsive. I would do Michael Portillo, though.

My secret crush is Zac Effron but I think he might be a pillock in real life. Sad

No one's mentioned Liam Neeson. Good: he's mine. And whoever it was who said Damien Lewis -- you've already got quite a long list there so I think you can cede him to me.

Am I the only one who has a thing for Nicolas Cage? I loved him in Con Air and have been a bit hooked ever since.

And John Cusak. Definitely John Cusak

Had a huge crush on Mel Gibson when younger, round his Mad Max, YOLD days. Michael Biehn is another fine man - gorgeous. These days Michael Fassbender is rather taking my fancy.

poolo - I quite like Colin Firth too these days. He was great in "A Single Man" and "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy". He looks good in the trailer for "Before I Sleep" too. He's grown on me with age.

I have really weird taste in men. I adore Ed Sheeran, Stephen Merchant and Russell Howard. I think it's the funny, dorky thing that they have going on.

Also Alec Baldwin. But only now, not when he was young Confused I'm 24, so kind of out of my age bracket now!
