AIBU to think that if you really hate smoking in public so much you should sign the below petition...

Everytime I look on AIBU I see people complaining about smokers in public and how disgusting it it. If so many feel that strongly about it, maybe some of you should sign the below petition and get the idea debated in the house of commons. I hear the notion of a public smoking ban with only smoking allowed in designated areas works well in several US states. So well that people can't believe they let people smoke all over non-smokers for so long.

With the hot weather my windows and doors are open. I think a neighbour next door but one is a smoker and she is doing it outside. She may as well come into my house and have a fag because it smells like she is anyway. yuk. I've got no problem with people having a fag outside but what I do object to is the fact they congregate at shop, pub and bus station doorways and you have to walk through the stink.

Last time I looked public places are public and belong to us all. Shall we ban people with Body odour too? FFS.

I don't want smoking to be banned in public spacers, I just want some rude smokers to have a bit of consideration for others.

Most of the public was quite surprised that the most restrictive version of the smoking ban was made legal when the bill passed. However I think publicans and businesses have adjusted well, as have smokers. I am one - but I only smoke two - four a day, and it does p*ss me off walking behind a smoker walking along the pavement or next to me in a street cafe when I'm trying to eat. The US version is ridiculous though. Maybe a better plan is the Japanese version, where there are smoking and non-smoking environments (enclosed, with good aircon) and smoking 'pens' every few hundred yards on pavements. Gives people much more choice and those who don't smoke very few chances to encounter it where there's likely to be conflict.

Yay more non smokers dictating where people can do their perfectly legal passtime. I'm making a petition to ban barbeques, and aftershave, and farting, and bo, and burgervans, and perfume, and more than a squirt of deoderant, and cars. I'll sign yours if you sign mine.

As a non-smoker, I won't be signing, but I think the OP is more about either sign the petition or shut up moaning about it.

Lets ban irresponsible parents with buggies too, the ones who commandeer the pavement and the lift and would have us believe as their child is still in a buggy they are therefore more important than anyone else and we must make allowances and forgive their manners.

I really hate those fried chicken shops you usually see under railway arches in London. The smell of rancid fat and battery chicken flesh makes me heave, as do the discarded gnawed bones scattered around them, and the hordes of cannibalistic pigeons swarming round them. I detest smoking with a passion, but wont be signing. It's unenforcable. Smoke away from other people when possible is all I ask, and don't drop fag butts.

We have had massive problems in this heat wave in our house, with our neighbours smoking, large groups of them, and a sick baby.

All I have wanted to do, is simply open my windows.

I have had that denied to me because of the frequency and volume of the smokers right next to my windows, who refused to move when begged.
