to be disappointed that royal baby is a boy

I know IABU, baby is healthy etc, but for some reason I really thought it would be a girl.

I don't know what has got into me, I am certainly not a royalist but I have been so interested in the birth.

OP posts:
foreverondiet · 22/07/2013 23:34

Yes, I thought that for a split second, because the new succession laws wont be tested for another generation. But a bit unreasonable to be so disappointed to post on IABU board???

ThisReallyIsNotSPNopeNotAtAll · 22/07/2013 23:35

Horace Happy Birthday! I dont even know what magic baby you speak of Grin

All that's happened is a baby as been born. I want naked Harry pictures!

FairPhyllis · 22/07/2013 23:35

I think it's a very good thing it was a boy. I hoped it was before it was born, for its own sake, because I think any girl would just be treated horribly viciously by the press all through her teenage years and as a young woman. Look at how awful people are about Beatrice and Eugenie.

The Crown Princess of one of the Scandinavian monarchies had anorexia as a young woman - growing up with the burden of being royal and female has got to have been part of that.

YoniSingWhenYoureWinning · 22/07/2013 23:37

I would like to have seen them with a girl. No idea why, really!

scottishmummy · 22/07/2013 23:38

Yowsa,the 1st reply deleted.clearly you've pissed folk off

GoodTouchBadTouch · 22/07/2013 23:39

Oh, so that's what a man hating feminist is. Didn't realise your hate extended to newborns. Gosh, at least give him a chance not to rape someone will you?

curlew · 22/07/2013 23:39

Come over to my thread about Maternity Worldwide and donate, all you "think of all the women who aren't as lucky as the D of C" people!

ccsays · 22/07/2013 23:40

Well I mean there's disappointed in a "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! WHY, GOD, WHY?!" kind of a way and there's disappointed in a "ach, a girl would've been nice, eh?" way. Fairly sure the OP meant the latter. At the end of the day, it's not as if it's she's commenting on the baby of us or anyone we know.

GoodTouchBadTouch · 22/07/2013 23:40

"disappointed the baby isn't a half lizard."

Duh. They don't show off their scales do they...

LazyMonkeyButler · 22/07/2013 23:41

FairPhyllis makes a fair point. The pressure on a Princess, being the first after the new legislation, would have been huge.

GoodTouchBadTouch · 22/07/2013 23:43

Why is it that woman haters get called misogynists (clearly negative)

Man haters get called feminists (how altruistic)

ccsays · 22/07/2013 23:44

I prefer to be known as a feminazi boner killer myself, GoodTouch Grin

ImNotBloody14 · 22/07/2013 23:45

Demonstrating your great understanding of feminism there goodtouch Grin

Fakebook · 22/07/2013 23:49

Duh. They don't show off their scales do they...

Good point. So there is a chance its a lizard. Yay.

ChippingInHopHopHop · 22/07/2013 23:50

Primarily I am happy they (appear to) have had a healthy baby.

Secondry to that, I am a little disappointed it's a boy and not a girl, because it would have been nice to know there was another Queen in line. Of course that doesn't make any of us who feel like that, anti-boy, what a ridiculous thing to say.

However, the boy will probably have an easier life than a girl would have, so maybe it is best for the child that he's a boy.

I'd love it if they did call him Spencer Grin I wonder what the bookies are offering on that!!

YouTheCat · 22/07/2013 23:50

Don't tell Icke.

YoniSingWhenYoureWinning · 22/07/2013 23:52

I reckon they'll call hm George.

Figured out why I would have liked a girl, it's because William came from and all-brother family so it might have been nice for him to have had a daughter. I'm sure they are very happy either way though!

Lemur would have better. Would have been news worthy than!

Prince William is the proud father to a beautiful male Lemur.

ImNotBloody14 · 22/07/2013 23:57

What would happen in the case of twins? Would it be whichever one was born first was king?

ChuffMuffin · 22/07/2013 23:57

I was actually quite sad how many people outside the hospital said they wished the baby had been a girl. :(

ImNotBloody14 · 22/07/2013 23:58

Ooh imagine twins born by caesarian! That would mean the surgeon got to choose which would be the king!

ccsays · 22/07/2013 23:59

JEEZ, ThisReallyIsNot, why do you hate female lemurs?! Angry

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 23/07/2013 00:00

Yanbu. I am not a monarchist at all but I would far rather have seen a female baby born. Taxpayers supporting a prominent female national figure seems more palatable to me.

nennypops · 23/07/2013 00:02

I'm quite pleased it's a boy. Just because I heard this annoying and smug woman being interviewed on the radio this morning and she was loudly proclaiming how she had a "feeling" it was a girl and she was never wrong.
