to be disappointed that royal baby is a boy

Madmum24 · 22/07/2013 22:48

I know IABU, baby is healthy etc, but for some reason I really thought it would be a girl.

I don't know what has got into me, I am certainly not a royalist but I have been so interested in the birth.

Good

there you go again.

people with LD do learn from the world around them.

people with ld DON'T SAY STUPID THINGS.

I am reporting that post too.

Please don't say any more I am finding you to be highly offensive and you have no idea what you are talking about.

You are very ignorant.

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 23/07/2013 10:56

So learning disabled people say 'stupid' things?! You are digging this hole deeper....

ThePrinceofCambridge · 23/07/2013 11:00

"OK.. is she just bog-standard stupid then?? Whats the official name for that??"

YOU

YOU are bog standard stupid, you are the definition of it. You are un aware of the world around you, and clearly clueless.

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 23/07/2013 11:02

And it is crazy that people can't accept that there is no malice involved in many of us being a little disappointed the baby was not female. I have children of both genders. I love boys. I would just have liked to have seen history made with the birth of a female destined at birth to be Queen. I don't see why everything as to boil down to 'boys are boring' or 'girls are better' or 'everyone prefers girls' etc.

thebody · 23/07/2013 11:02

nasty comments.

whatwillSantaBring.. totally agree a girl would have been more interesting re schools and careers but generally I couldn't care less as don't know them.

what's with the preferring girls? or boys? or dogs?

how silly.

What would I call someone who thinks people with LD are as you describe above.

When is MN going to get tough with people like you?

Why don't you find somewhere else to spread your bile and filth.

Lots of people on MN have children and relatives with LD fighting ignorance and prejudice like yours every single minuet of every day of their lives, to give their close ones a normal life as possible in a sea of prejudice and ignorance just like you have displayed.

I do not think MN is the place for you.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 23/07/2013 11:09

I was interested in the succession laws so it would have been more interesting if it had been a girl. (Although if they didn't go on to have a boy it still wouldn't matter.)

Interestingly you have to go all the way back to George VII (our Queen's grandfather) before you have a monarch whose sex was relevant.

Am slightly concerned they are going to have the same name as newborn ds so I will keener on the boy aspect once they announce names (or very very unkeen if they do use the same one!)

I reckon I have about a fifty:fifty chance of seeing this baby get to the throne - I am 3 years older than William but female and women life expectency is about 3 years longer than men.

northernlurker · 23/07/2013 11:14

You mean Edward VII the Queen's great-grandfather I think mum. He was the second child of his parents and displaced his sister. He then had two sons before girls and his son George V did likewise.

GoodTouchBadTouch · 23/07/2013 11:26

PrinceofCambridge, perhaps the internet is not the place for you, as you may happen across people who don't share your opinion.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 23/07/2013 11:29

northern you are right. No such person as George VII!

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 23/07/2013 11:33

(Pressed post too soon.)

Although there is decent odds of Baby Cambridge becoming George VII apparently.

northernlurker · 23/07/2013 11:36

Errr goodtouch - everybody disagrees with your offensive opinion. Including HQ.

LadyBryan · 23/07/2013 11:42

So many positive role models. I just asked my 6 year old daughter who she thought was an important lade and she has just named: -

Ellie Simmonds
Charlotte du Jardin
Jess Ennis
"the lady who writes Harry Potter"
"the lady who writes The Gruffalo"
"the lady who sat on the bus" (we've been watching Horrible Histories....)

Pretty happy with that and no mention of a monarch. Although ask her about royalty and she knows about Queen Victoria, both Elizabeths.

The thing about royalty is it is purely an accident of birth, therefore I wouldn't be placing too much emphasis on whether they're male/female. I think it far more important somewhere like the USA have a female president than we have a female monarch

ThePrinceofCambridge · 23/07/2013 11:48

Good

There is no sharing of opinion on whether people with LD engage with the world around them.

They do.

You are degenerating a whole group of people, you are undermining them and you are de valuing them, and running them down.

You are not able to see that.

In all my time on MN I have only ever seen one or two posters use LD as a weapon to slash others with.

Its so ironic that you are insulting people with LD calling them stupid, and yet you yourself cannot see how this is un true and offensive.

I just hope MN Towers can enlighten you.

ZingWidge · 23/07/2013 12:27

what does LD mean, please?

good grief two threads in two minutes with the same issue.

Sometimes you have a different but valid opinion to someone else. Sometimes you are wrong and they are right.

good this is one of the occasions where you are wrong....just in case you can't understand the message from MNHQ.

gotthemoononastick · 23/07/2013 13:36

In the meantime there is an earthquake overdue in Portugal, that will set off a tsunami that will take out all of low lying UK.

Also do not forget the big old volcano in Iceland that will take all of Northern H. out.

Little prince was meant to be at this time and in this place.

And you are fighting over girl/good,boy/bad?Laughing here!

skylit · 23/07/2013 14:29

I'd love to have the headspace to worry about such irrelevant shit.

jellybeans · 23/07/2013 14:31

'Boys are dull.
Their clothes are dull - Shorts, trousers, tops - done. Yawn.
Their names are dull (just check out the baby names for yet another 'help me find a nice boys name that isn't overused' thread) Yawn.
Their hobbies are dull - minecraft, endless sports tournaments (either watching or attending) Yawn.'

That is so ignorant! Stereotype much? I don't find my sons or daughters dull thanks. Oh and I love boys names and clothes too! I actually prefer shopping for my sons clothes than my DDs.

TabithaStephens · 23/07/2013 14:33

Maybe the baby will have a sex change later in life to keep everyone happy. It can be the first LGBT monarch.

SigmundFraude · 23/07/2013 14:36

I must admit to not particularly caring whether the new royal was a boy or a girl, however, the child being a boy does neatly sidestep a few issues and puts paid to many, many future threads on MN.

Could you imagine the feminist furore if the future baby queen wore pink and played with gender specific toys. Or as an adult wore make-up and was well groomed. How many e-petitions along the lines of 'Princess Whatsit should be allowed to play with toy trains/wear astronaut suits in public' would we be asked to sign? She'd only end up being slagged off for not doing a degree in science, her appearance would be picked over by the media and feminists alike. And then, when she did her royal duty of getting married and popping out sprogs, she'd be slagged off again for being a waster/not feminist.

So yes, good job it's a boy.
