to be disappointed that royal baby is a boy

Madmum24 · 22/07/2013 22:48

I know IABU, baby is healthy etc, but for some reason I really thought it would be a girl.

I don't know what has got into me, I am certainly not a royalist but I have been so interested in the birth.

I know I'm a sexist lemurist. Deal with it. Its in our country's best interests

Fakebook · 23/07/2013 00:04

I'll be happy with a baby lemur if he looks like this:

this

Otherwise, I'd be disappointed.

aftermay · 23/07/2013 00:26

A baby girl - we could discuss not just accession but accessories.

mimmum · 23/07/2013 00:36

Propertynight, really? What an odd thing to say.

Morloth · 23/07/2013 00:37

Hopefully by the time this baby gets anywhere near the English throne Australia will be a republic.

This thread certainly is confirmation of the MN preference for girls though!

Just glad all went well, to have had anything go wrong under such pressure would have been extra awful to deal with.

Mimishimi · 23/07/2013 00:38

YABU.

GoodTouchBadTouch · 23/07/2013 00:44

I cant help it. Im glad its a boy. Lets face it - they are fighting a losing battle at the moment.

GoodTouchBadTouch · 23/07/2013 00:45

"Just glad all went well, to have had anything go wrong under such pressure would have been extra awful to deal with."

God yeah... Imagine if hed been small for dates or something? The whole country would be cross with her!

ChuffMuffin · 23/07/2013 00:49

I was just glad it all went well and everyone was happy and healthy. Stupidly I assumed everyone else would be too. Confused

bragmatic · 23/07/2013 05:42

I'd have liked to see a girl, purely for the accession change.

Oddly enough, I am capable of feeling happy that all is well.

I've always been able to multi-task.

MummyMastodon · 23/07/2013 06:09

The first thing I said when I saw the news was 'oh, no, it's a boy'.

Purely because of the new law, it would have been kind of cool.

But no biggie.

YouStayClassySanDiego · 23/07/2013 06:18

How pathetic this all sounds!

I don't know them! [ surprise] but I bet all they cared about was a happy outcome for the baby and her.

Bollocks to strangers whining about 'ooh it's a boy, how disappointing' Hmm

exoticfruits · 23/07/2013 06:43

It is bad enough people getting disappointed with their own gender of baby- I get saddened that they can get disappointed over someone else's baby. It is a ridiculous attitude and no one would have said they were disappointed it was a girl- for some reason they seem to be favoured.
Luckily I expect the parents are thrilled.

zoobaby · 23/07/2013 07:05

BBC said yesterday that the accession laws aren't yet ratified and that there is a legal challenge in Canada.

So a boy nicely sidesteps all that. What about all the "poor" females currently out there who still can't inherit the lesser titles due to archaic laws? They're the ones I feel "sorry" for. Not much equality for them, is there?

Oh that's right the royal family are special cos they won the DNA lottery. Grr.

BringBackBod · 23/07/2013 07:09

So what if we have a king for the next 100 years.
It's not as if we've never had a queen is it!

bragmatic · 23/07/2013 07:17

Well, I hope he is gay, and married a bloke and we'll have two queens.

SpiderCharlotte · 23/07/2013 07:21

Blimey, I just read online some commentator mentioning slight disappointment and thought. 'What a twat, who the hell would be disappointed at the birth of a healthy baby to a stranger?' Lo and behold he's not the only one.

Will the baby be a shape shifting lizard or only half a shape shifting lizard? Has David Icke commented?

exoticfruits · 23/07/2013 07:30

You read it completely differently to me, Miaow, I see the usual MN preference for girls. We have had a female head of state for 60yrs - what more do you want? Confused

thegreylady · 23/07/2013 07:31

Oh dear-a pleasant seeming young couple give birth to a healthy child and a stranger is disappointed. The accession laws will stay now and that is what matters. I wish them long life and happiness. We may well have a queen for many years to come.

YouStayClassySanDiego · 23/07/2013 07:31

I see no 'boys are amazing' bollocks.

Just a thread expressing disappointment at the gender of a baby.

curlew · 23/07/2013 07:35

What a bizarre tone this thread has

" I was hoping the baby would be a girl because it would be cool to see the new laws of secession in operation so soon after they were passed. It's quite historically significant"

"God, you boy hating radical feminists are a disgrace. You're all the same, you would rather all boys were castrated at birth. You disgust me- life is difficult enough for boys and men as it is without this all pervasive anti - male bias."

sweetestcup · 23/07/2013 07:37

This is mad, really bizarre and yes takes the anti-boy baby threads on MN to a whole new level. Why in gods name does it matter what gender the new royal baby is? Only to people obviously who value girls more than boys, very sad.

Sunshineandwaves · 23/07/2013 07:43

The mumsnet preference for girls is still alive and well I see. This thread is beyond bizarre.
You do realise Britain already has a female head of state?
