I know IABU, baby is healthy etc, but for some reason I really thought it would be a girl.

I don't know what has got into me, I am certainly not a royalist but I have been so interested in the birth.

Tell you what would be really modern and progressive? If we did away with the outdated nonsense that someone receives such a position of power and privilege simply due to an accident of birth, but given the unbelievable sycophancy that has been demonstrated across the country today that's not going to happen in my lifetime .

I don't think it's unreasonable to be disappointed for two reasons, firstly because the new law will not be used and secondly because it is nice to think our children and children's children will grow up in a world where not everyone in authority is male. Also the frocks are better.

Hopefully there will be more female politicians in the future to balance things out.
