to be disappointed that royal baby is a boy

Madmum24 · 22/07/2013 22:48

I know IABU, baby is healthy etc, but for some reason I really thought it would be a girl.

I don't know what has got into me, I am certainly not a royalist but I have been so interested in the birth.

Confused
ThisReallyIsNotSPNopeNotAtAll · 22/07/2013 22:56

I hoped it would have been a lemur

Zynzong · 22/07/2013 22:57

yes, but they're not going to inherit a title, or become sovereign one day. If there are any men reading I don't think their sensibilities will be too offended that there are women out there who would have liked to have seen King, King, Queen rather than King, King, King.......

LadyMilfordHaven · 22/07/2013 22:57

i really hoped for a revolution to get away with all this utter shit
tbh

I thought it would be a boy.
a girl would have been lovely too.

I'm just happy that they have a healthy child.

who else thinks that Uncle Harry is getting piiiiiiissed tonight?

Would the Queen have a cigar?Grin

QuintessentialOldDear · 22/07/2013 22:58
Hmm

Yes, those loathsome boys. Who'd have them? The human race should evolve into single sex worms that impregnate themselves, just to eradicate the male gender.

DomesticCEO · 22/07/2013 22:58

Wow, that's really taking MN's general antipathy towards boys to a whole new level Hmm.

And the phrase "gender disappointment" really makes me want to scream!

Tell you what would be really modern and progressive? If we did away with the outdated nonsense that someone receives such a position of power and privilege simply due to an accident of birth, but given the unbelievable sycophancy that has been demonstrated across the country today that's not going to happen in my lifetime Sad.

VonHerrBurton · 22/07/2013 22:59

Its just gratuitously making a negative, that's all.

Its a healthy baby, ffs. A seemingly nice, happy couple have had a baby, and a few hours later people are voicing gender disappointment. Very sad and a bit pathetic really.

ImNotBloody14 · 22/07/2013 22:59

Yes i agree zyn- i was asking the person purporting to be a lady why only mothers of boys would be offended as she suggested and not the boys or their fathers. Fwiw i dont think any of them would be.

QuintessentialOldDear · 22/07/2013 22:59

Maybe we should separate mumsnet in two sections?

MumstoBoysnet and MumstoGirlsnet, for those of you who cant stand boys??

YouTheCat · 22/07/2013 22:59

Omg ThisReallyIsNotSPNopeNotAtAll, I hoped it would be a lemur too! Grin

WetAugust · 22/07/2013 22:59

I was hoping for a Labrador Sad

LadyMilfordHaven · 22/07/2013 23:00

you know i am not really a lady dont you
i thought even that was obvious.
its called a nom de plume
like you arent 14.

sheesh

LaurieFairyCake · 22/07/2013 23:00

Yes, it's great that she is delivered safely and well.

But I totally get the sentiment of the disappointment that we now have 3 kings to come.

I'm not a Royalist but we have had a bloody good and successful queen.

Who wouldn't want to replicate that ?

A king for the next 100 years?

A slight disappointment.

Zynzong · 22/07/2013 23:00

No it's not patriarchy to recognise that you are swearing and insulting people LadyMilfordHaven. You were the first to insult people with an opinion, so that's a bit rich.

It's not about William and Kate and their baby. It's about something bigger than that, the fact that there will be three kings in a row now.

ImNotBloody14 · 22/07/2013 23:00

Quint you are deliberatley ignoring ops post explaining her reason for disappointment.

LadyMilfordHaven · 22/07/2013 23:01

lets hope the queen karks it soon - then charles - then prob solved

NewNameForNewTerm · 22/07/2013 23:01

Or maybe I was hoping its reptilian and the conspiracy theorist were right all along.

ImNotBloody14 · 22/07/2013 23:01

Yes well my name does say im not 14! Grin

ZingWidge · 22/07/2013 23:01

OliviaLMumsnet · 22/07/2013 23:01

Ahem
Crown

LadyMilfordHaven · 22/07/2013 23:02

lola t 14

MogTheForgetfulCat · 22/07/2013 23:02

Well maybe we'll all rise up and overthrow them, and then no kings or queens required. It's an idea...

MsJupiterJones · 22/07/2013 23:02

I don't think it's unreasonable to be disappointed for two reasons, firstly because the new law will not be used and secondly because it is nice to think our children and children's children will grow up in a world where not everyone in authority is male. Also the frocks are better.

Hopefully there will be more female politicians in the future to balance things out.
