Not so much to do with my DH as its tough shit for him Grin.

My sister is made 20s and probably carries an "extra" ten pounds or so above what would be a 'perfect' body. She dresses for her figure and wears great clothes and has curvy boobs and bum, she doesn't have a flat tummy, but it certainly isn't large. She's 5'4 and probably weighs just under 10 stone a dress size 10.

Being newly single she's extremely paranoid about not being perfect and that her "weight" will put men off.

So AIBU to tell her to quit moaning unless she wants to swap for my pushing size 14 post baby body?

I think it depends on the fella and older gents tend to be more realistic.
Ultimately I think confidence and healthiness is way sexier than conforming to whatever the media says is 'perfect'.

I once heard a Barbara Cartland quote that I LOVE. She apparently said that in her experience women tend to have either a beautiful body or a beautiful face and in her opinion is was better to have a beautiful face and to sit down. Grin

YY velvet the criticism ive experienced has come from men in their forties and fifties .
The younger men ive come into contact with couldnt be more polite.
Last Christmas in a pub and two years ago in the same pub i had one guy in their early 20s tell me i was attractive and another guy offer to buy me a drink.
Last August outside a different pub some bodybuilder bloke asked me to go home with him. I asked the younger guys why they were so much more polite than older ones (we got into a convo about it) and they said its down to education and manners. Im currently a size 20 but its falling. I used to be a 28.

outragedofsuburbia I'm 5 foot 5 (and a half!) and at just under 10 stone I still have a very big belly (34/35 inches which is well above the healthy limit of 32). I have a very small frame and all my extra weight goes on my belly. Still would fit in a size 10 though. So OP's sister could be like this (or not...)

Either way I think it's very hard to judge what someone looks like based on description of height/weight/dress size. Even though am not overweight on the BMI scale I definitely need to lose some weight in order to not have a big flabby belly which restricts my choice of clothes a lot etc.

I really hate the whole beautiful face vs beautiful body thing. It seems spiteful.

So I don't have a particularly beautiful face - I have to work at being really slim and toned?

What about plain-looking people who are a bit chubby?

I would love to have a beautiful face but it's not a choice really, is it.
