AIBU to be furious and go home?

My friend moved back from Houston to London three weeks ago and was very keen to meet me as we haven't seen each other since Christmas. I was on holiday and just returned this week. She was very eager to meet me tonight and despite me still being jet-lagged and tired I went all the way to see her. Well, I am where we supposed to meet now but she doesn't turn up. She was supposed to be here 30 minutes ago and I got a text from her she is still at a BBQ and won't be here before 10pm. I am furious. It took me 90 minutes to get here and it will take me the same time back again. I am tired and could really use the time for something else.

AIBU to just take the train back again and ignore her?

Go home and forget to mention it.

Sleep404 · 13/07/2013 21:34

Yep. Head home. I hate people who are late when they know you are alone waiting for them. It is soooo rude.

Rubysmommy · 13/07/2013 21:34

YANBU - I'd be on my way home!

DioneTheDiabolist · 13/07/2013 21:34

Go home. Your friend is very rude and probably won't turn up.

JaquelineHyde · 13/07/2013 21:35

Also make her come to you next time.

Fakebook · 13/07/2013 21:36

Just leave. Say you have a long journey back aswell and are tired.

SoggySummer · 13/07/2013 21:36

FFS - that is so so rude. I am at a BBQ is not a decent excuse to be late. What a selfish cow to think it is.

Go home and ignore. Let her turn up to no-one at 10pm - a taste of her own medicine will do her good.

Whothefuckfarted · 13/07/2013 21:36

I hope you are already on your way home while mumsnetting this AIBU.

SisterMatic · 13/07/2013 21:36

Go home, she is so rude!

LemonBreeland · 13/07/2013 21:37

Absolutely go home. How rude to know you are there waiting and not bother to hurry to meet you. Very selfish. I don't understand these people who think their time is more important than anyone elses.

MalcolmTuckersMum · 13/07/2013 21:50

I can't see that there's any option but to go home. Otherwise you'd look like the kind of person who's prepared to be fucked around like this and that won't do at all. I agree that you should just go and not tell her you're going. Do you really need someone this rude in your life?

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 13/07/2013 21:51

That is one of the rudest things I have ever read on mumsnet and I am a connoisseur of AIBU. I am truly Shock

Go home now. Delete from all social media and never speak to her again. And get a head start of at least 45 mins before you bother your arse to text her. Hopefully she'll be nearly there. Rude twunt

internationallove985 · 13/07/2013 21:52

How rude and mad mannered of her. Go home and for the record. Y.M.C.N. B.U. XXX

maddening · 13/07/2013 22:01

Yanbu - text her at 11 to say you're home sorry she couldn't make it ;)

No. I've changed my mind. When she calls or texts you to say she's at the meeting place, say you're just in the loo and will be out soon. Get her to order you a drink - an expensive one. You'll get at least another 30 mins waiting out of her Grin

ZillionChocolate · 13/07/2013 22:04

Presumably at 8:50 she knew she wouldn't be there at 9. Getting in touch at 9:30 is unacceptable, as is sending a text.

I think I'd leave and send a text saying you won't be there. I wouldn't speak to her again until I had a proper apology.
