I'm the owner of a (2nd hand) bugaboo bee which we bought simply because it was the best for public transport, small and light. Since entering the world of babies we have received an unexpected amount of comment both snobby and reverse snobby (ooh a bugaboo, yummy mummy are we)! WTF! Anyone judge or judges in secret?

I have a bugaboo, bought it when ds2 was little, he is now 11 and I have used it for another three children. Was it expensive..yes. But it was worth it, still in great condition despite being used everyday. I walk everywhere and its been a real workhorse. Only problem I had was the fielkd on school run when we had snow so I got a nipper 360 which is also fab.

Just get one that suits your lifestyle, its worth spending a bit if you will use it a lot, particularly if you will use it for more than one DC.

This thread is like a parody of Mumsnet.

"How DARE you say people with a HippopotamusMoonbeam are twats?! I have a HippopotamusMoonbeam and I am extremely down to earth thank you very much! This is a clear-cut case of reverse HippopotamusMoonbeam snobbery and you should all be ashamed!"

WestieMamma · 13/07/2013 21:05

I imagine how many millions I'd make out of my innovative swivel baby car seat.

5madthings · 13/07/2013 21:05

I also have a variety of slings... Shoot me now Grin

DontmindifIdo · 13/07/2013 21:06

Surely the bugaboo donkey is popular because there aren't many rear facing doubles that don't involve your DCs having to be in some sort of stacking system? Most non-stacking doubles do seem to be forward facing or only rear facing until they are in the seat unit (so for the next couple of years). It could seem smug because you've obviously made the choice that rear facing is worth spending an extra £500 on compared to the forward facing doubles you can get, and if you've not made that choice you might think the other mother is judging your choice.

Personally, I have an old iCandy cherry I got when I had DS, it's still fine for DD although I made the mistake of taking it off road a lot with DS so not sure it'll last for DD. I do wish I'd bought a bugaboo as my friends who are on their DC2 who also did a lot of off road walking with DC1 still have a buggy that will last for another couple of years. I might well have made a false economy buying the cheaper iCandy.

Oh god but for true smugness, you need a 'baby wearer'

You could have got special snow wheels for your bugaboo. I knows because I live in Sweden where they're essential.

Sleep404 · 13/07/2013 21:09

Website, DH had that idea 5 years ago and told everyone how he was going to patent it. Alas someone got there before him Sad.

Emilythornesbff · 13/07/2013 21:10

Grin @ yoni

Sleep404 · 13/07/2013 21:10

scottishmummy · 13/07/2013 21:10

I have snow wheels for bugaboo
Good for snow and all That

Sleep404 · 13/07/2013 21:11

Is it really called a Donkey Confused? Which bright spark thought that was a good idea?

Emilythornesbff · 13/07/2013 21:12

Grin 5madthings

5madthings · 13/07/2013 21:12

Yes but they didn't have them here I would have had to order them from Holland and it was going to take 6-8wks, the snow would have been gone by then so I got the nipper on 34hr delivery. It is great but I do love my bugaboo frog, feels like part of the family we have had it so long!

WestieMamma · 13/07/2013 21:12

There's a swivel car seat already? Shock

How did I miss that?

Oh yeah, I remember. Because I live in the arse end of nowhere. :(

nkf · 13/07/2013 21:15

I too thought it said buggery snobbery.

scottishmummy · 13/07/2013 21:15

Plenty swivel eyes on mn,ESP with regards to bugaboo
Gets all the mine cost tu'ppence crew going.they'd never be such profligate spenders
only to be witheringly cut down by baby wearers.who despise prams

WestieMamma · 13/07/2013 21:15

So do I. Bit pointless really because although I live in a place where snow can reach 6ft in depth, I refuse to leave the house until spring. Seriously, who goes out when it's -20 in the sun?

MrsOakenshield · 13/07/2013 21:15

well, Dora, I didn't know when I bought my Bugaboo, that they had any kind of reputation. All I knew was that it seemed suitable for what I wanted, that a couple of friends who had one were happy with it, and that it was within budget. So, actually, I don't expect anyone to regard me in a particular way on the basis of what pram I'm pushing.

And I only know one Audi driver. His wheelchair fits nicely into it.

stopprocrastinating · 13/07/2013 21:17

I also love pushchairs, much more than handbags or shoes.I don't judge though. Currently coveting a baby jogger summit.

Tried slings, but DD prefers her pushchair.

nkf · 13/07/2013 21:19

I wish it had been about buggery snobbery. That would be some thread. Are you sure it isn't? Buggerypoo rather Bugaloo?

hottea7 · 13/07/2013 21:19

My nan and grandad bought me a bugaboo donkey for my babies last year, had to get my dp to take it up to the school with the babies for the first time I was to bloody scared!

scottishmummy · 13/07/2013 21:23

Scared of what?the school gate mafia roughing you up,stealing your pram
You're seriously over thinking this.its a pram not a staffie on a rope
Motherhood is competitive, mums find reason to dislike something about you.not necessarily pram

MoveItMoveIt · 13/07/2013 21:26

I have a mamas and papas moove and a maclaren for the carboot but I do really want a bugaboo bee, simply because its small and compact and has the option to face both ways. Plus I love the yellow colour Grin

FeckOffCup · 13/07/2013 21:32

I really wish I had got an icandy instead of a graco travel system, PILs had offered to buy the pram and I didn't want to seem like I was taking the piss by going for one of the more expensive ones. I love checking out buggies but not to judge, I have buggy envy, I would have a different one for every day of the week if money and space were no object. Who cares what someone else thinks of your buggy, I've recently had to get rid of one (it broke) that I'm pretty sure most people on this thread would judge/eyeroll at.

TheFallenNinja · 13/07/2013 21:40

I bought the Mothercare Trenton System. It's built like a soviet era tank, can carry a weeks shopping and I'm pretty sure would convert into an iron lung / decompression chamber/ panic room.

It takes loads of room up at play group and I'm sure is the next possible replacement for the British Army land rover.

It's mint Smile
