A friend has been raving about mumsnet and said that i should join as it is "like talking to friends who are supportive, friendly and who give sound advice." I have been lurking on mn and have been reading lots of threads and have been put off from starting a thread myself because i found some of the replies really quite un friendly (to say the least) and some sound quite rude. I realize that mn prides its self on being a 'no nonsense' type of forum and life isnt all flowers and fluffy clouds, and that sometimes the truth isnt always 'nice' but i was quite shocked at some of the 'un sisterly' comments.

It's frustrating, it nurtures anger, it gets right on yer tits but it's also a great place to discuss all sorts with mostly like-minded people.

I was a big snob when dcs were little...always used an M&S or straw bag from local farmers total rip-off market.

ive been upset a few times by some posters but sometimes you ask for it!

a couple were where I felt ignored (cos im usually boring anyway

) and another ona 'chat' thread where maybe I shouldn't have given a personal experience opinion but the very people I was complaining about then mocked me and I nearly posted 'I rest my case' !!

on the ohther hand though ive also had loads of friendliness, pms of support and hand holding and the occasional laugh, and its my social life in the evenings.

I am sure it has already been said, but I just can't let this thread go by and not comment

The response is awesome, people are so kind, caring and supportive. I have seen so many threads where a desperate OP gets a gentle hold handing support from many, often in the middle of the night. There are threads where people have gone round and cleaned a house, sent food parcels, co-ordinated practical support, and recently even found someone's long lost Dad for them.

Yes it can be an incisive , fast, moving (and often very funny) place, but when the shit hits the fan, people here are amazing.

Also... AIBU for plotting to skull fuck 'D'P with something sharp when he falls asleep, for allowing me to see to DS 6 months (who was whinging) while he ate dinner and then fucked off outside for a cigarette and I still hadn't had any fucking food.
