to feel let down by mumsnet

A friend has been raving about mumsnet and said that i should join as it is "like talking to friends who are supportive, friendly and who give sound advice." I have been lurking on mn and have been reading lots of threads and have been put off from starting a thread myself because i found some of the replies really quite un friendly (to say the least) and some sound quite rude. I realize that mn prides its self on being a 'no nonsense' type of forum and life isnt all flowers and fluffy clouds, and that sometimes the truth isnt always 'nice' but i was quite shocked at some of the 'un sisterly' comments.

I would liken MN to real life, some people are lovely and you get along great, and there are people who disagree with you but you still like, and people who you just don't agree or get along with.

But did you honestly think we would agree you are reasonable to hate us? Have you tried Netmums? Perhaps it's more your sort of thing?

Personally I love it here, you can't beat a good debate, and those posts where you laugh so much you cry, and those that bring a tear to your eye with the help and support people give each other and the fact you can use swear words like fuck and cunt :o

I'd say a Friday is a good day for it.

Once the wine starts flowing... Grin

Well I'm a member of mumsnet and I've never been abusive, don't get me wrong I haven't agreed with everything people have said, but you can give your opinion without giving someone a verbal beating.
I've had a few verbal beatings mind. On the conception thread. However it's all sorted out now.
Oh and welcome aboard. Hope you stay with us. xxx

YouTheCat · 21/06/2013 18:32

True. But there's always the Drunk thread. Grin

DowntonTrout · 21/06/2013 18:38

Oh bum!

I've missed all the fun!

badgeroncaffeine · 21/06/2013 18:40

Yes, OP, absolutely correct. On this site you find a lot of good people and a lot of utter losers. I give as good as I get, or ignore them...depending on how I feel.

yamsareyammy · 21/06/2013 18:46

I am feeling bad about this. I offer the hand of friendship to you.
Ironically, on the discussions of the day, is "Kindness of strangers" - your tales

oinkment · 21/06/2013 18:46

I know what you mean OP because I had a similar experience - my friend RAVED about Asda's own fig rolls. She said they were delicious and moreish and filled you up and she couldn't get enough of them. Well I tried them and I didn't like them at all. So I wrote to Asda to complain.

LittleMissGerardButlerfan · 21/06/2013 18:49

oinkment that is shocking Shock I hope you never spoke to her again?

Tee2072 · 21/06/2013 18:51

Your opinions are stupid.

I missed the good bits, someone PM the deleted ones!

I mean...hello Miss Helen, how are you this fine Friday?

YouTheCat · 21/06/2013 18:52

And now you've made me hate Mumsnet too.

boooooohoooooo

I want a fig roll! Envy

HoneyDragon · 21/06/2013 18:52

LittleMissGerardButlerfan · 21/06/2013 18:53

I want a pm too but no one at MNHQ can tell cos I put a line through it so it doesn't really exist

Tiredmumno1 · 21/06/2013 18:54
