AIBU?

to feel let down by mumsnet

A friend has been raving about mumsnet and said that i should join as it is "like talking to friends who are supportive, friendly and who give sound advice." I have been lurking on mn and have been reading lots of threads and have been put off from starting a thread myself because i found some of the replies really quite un friendly (to say the least) and some sound quite rude. I realize that mn prides its self on being a 'no nonsense' type of forum and life isnt all flowers and fluffy clouds, and that sometimes the truth isnt always 'nice' but i was quite shocked at some of the 'un sisterly' comments.

Strictly speaking, OP, you hadn't been let down before you started this thread, because you hadn't asked for anything.

You might feel you've been let down after this thread. Or actually, not, because you can't be let down by something that confirms what you already thought.

So I think, for reasons of logic/semantics alone, YABU

Many people have raved to me about Zumba. 'Come to Zumba, it's so much fun'! Hmm

To me, the very thought of a room full of sweaty, red-faced women, especially if it includes me, is my idea of hell.

Maybe Mumsnet is your idea of hell, OP. And maybe you'd be suited to somewhere else?

I got lots of support (aibu is not really for that) in other topics but I did leave for about 6 months after someone told me I'd ruined dtds virgin gut by allowing scbu to give them formula when they were born prem. I was asking for advice on mix feeding at the time. I then realised it was one daft person so came back. I didn't keep contact with the antenatal group I was on as I was simply too busy in rl but the group seemed lovely and wish I had kept in contact.
Good luck finding what you're looking for - wouldn't stay in aibu though.

Geeky Stuff is a lovely topic full of support - well, tech support.

Zumba on the other hand is really hard. YouTheCat try BodyVive it is nicer, even my mum quite liked that class.

Nannynick, thanks for the suggestion but any organised exercise type thing with actual people isn't really my thing.

In fact, anything organised, with real people, isn't my thing.

I am an anti-social old bugger. Grin

So you come to a website, decide its not for you and rather than buggering off and finding somewhere else you decide to tell us how disappointed you are.

Please do excuse us, we will all of course moderate our behaviour to suit you.....oh sorry actually we won't go and find another bloody site!

I remember coming on mumsnet way back in the day for some advice about my pfb and running away back to babycentre thinking Jeez what a bunch of cunts.

However, the pregnancy hormones soon wore off and I came to my senses :)

I have a theory that friday nights and sunday nights are not good times to start threads.
