it is flaming ridiculous, there is so much that needs to be done and all I can think about is sleep.

If you simply enjoy a good nap, wake naturally after a reasonable time and feel able to crack on with things afterwards, that's fine.

If you feel so tired that you think you will be ill if you don't get a nap, if you are coming home, crawling up the stairs and going to bed for the night sleeping for hours and still feeling drained, then go to your GP.

I felt like the second example before my Lupus was diagnosed and treated.

ike most of us on here, you're probably still catching up with a decade or so of broken sleep.

I am surprised to read this.
I can nap at every opportunity. This is because my diabetes makes me permanently tired.
I assumed that only people with medical conditions, or newborns, napped.
Am surprised to see that others do it.

Themobstersknife · 08/06/2013 21:31

I am a serial napper! I work part time and need a nap every day off I get, and sometimes when I work from home... I have a 1 year old who doesn't sleeo and am early forties, so feel like I have the whole lack of sleep going on, hand in hand with the old lady napping! YABU!

2kidsintow · 08/06/2013 21:41

I love a little sleep. I had one earlier. I had a busy, busy morning cleaning, gardening, tips runs, bbq etc.

When my DD suggested watching 'Wreck it Ralph' in my bed, I jumped at the chance. I think I saw about 10 mins of it, heard a bit more on and off, answered the odd question, but otherwise slept. Lovely.

Makinglists · 08/06/2013 21:48

Napping is one of life's great pleasures and keeps me sane!!. one of the best things in the world is to have a lie down with a good book and have a snooze.

TrinityRhino · 08/06/2013 21:52

I need to fit a nap in every day or I fall apart after a couple of days

I think years and years of sleep deprivation has ruined me

also the depression Sad

TrinityRhino · 08/06/2013 21:54

I dont do sofa naps
I do in my sanctuary with my waala naps Smile

Themobstersknife · 08/06/2013 21:54

Bless you Trinity. Haven't posted on your posts, but you have been in my thoughts.

Wannabestepfordwife · 08/06/2013 21:59

I have to nap with dd when she has her afternoon nap. Hyperthyrodism and a teething baby not a great combination.

I have far more vivid dreams when I nap as well I love it.

Wannabestepfordwife · 08/06/2013 22:00

It's like I've eaten a pound of cheese. Is it just me with mental nap dreams

Themobstersknife · 08/06/2013 22:15

No I have mental nap dreams too!

run4it · 08/06/2013 22:17

I have Gilbert's syndrome (which is pretty common - means my liver doesn't make enough enzymes) so I get very tired. I work full time, but am known to sneak off for a nap at weekends. If you're getting bloods done, might be worth asking them to check for Gilbert's while they're at it

debduck · 08/06/2013 22:24

I have a degree in napping. I love a nap. One day last week I had a nap and when I woke up I found it was only 1.30 so went in for another nap. My only nap rule is that I dont get INTO bed to have it, 'cause that's a sleep and sleeping during the day is just wrong. My favourite nap is when I make a cup of tea, nap, wake up and drink it because it's just the right temperature. Napping is an activity in my house. Sometimes I get up early so I can get an extra nap in.

fuzzpig · 08/06/2013 22:31

I would if I could. I do have CFS/ME though :o

I don't usually sleep or lie in bed in the day though, it really fucks up my sleep at night if I do.

ditavonteesed · 09/06/2013 08:13

I have mental dreams some times, also a panic one where I dream that I am trying to wke up and it goes on for ages and really scares me.

I love a good nap.

Like others have said, I'm surprised so many others do too.

Toomanyworriedsonhere · 09/06/2013 09:02

I'm also surprised how many others nap.
I do it guiltily, not quite every day, but 2 or so times a week.

I will try and do it without guilt from now on.

Also... article in the guardian last week about longevity mentioned many characteristics of the greek island they investigated - only ones I can remember are naps and two glasses of red wine per day Grin
