to think an adult woman who works part time should not need a nap on every day off she gets.

it is flaming ridiculous, there is so much that needs to be done and all I can think about is sleep.

I think an adult woman should be able to arrange her life to her own advantage.

If she would like a nap, and she can make it so that she has time to have a nap, then she should do so.

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 07/06/2013 12:02

I am convinced that the world would be a better place if we all stopped at 12pm for a proper lunch and a nap. My grandad had a post lunch nap every day and lived to be ninety-two, so there's your statistically significant evidence that they're beneficial Grin

Trills · 07/06/2013 12:02

do more in half an hour after a nap than I would do in 2 before

In which case you would be unreasonable not to have a nap, as long as the nap is shorter than 90 minutes!

ditavonteesed · 07/06/2013 12:04

wondering thts sad, dh is like that, I think I over estimate what I can acheive on my days off, cant nap just yet my bedding is on the line (intentionally so I couldnt have a nap. also wonder if I havve just got in the habit, I used to nap before I started back at work when the kids were at school becasue I was bored. Its since I started studying as well that I feel guilty as I should be studying (and not on here)

I remember being most upset when the DCs decided they did not need to nap anymore. I still needed a nap!

mrsjay · 07/06/2013 12:07

My routine was to have lunch while watching 4 weddings on pick tv and then nap for half an hour now 4 weddings isn't on anymore I panicked as it distured my routine, now I stick any old rubbish on and nap but it isn't the same Sad

plainjaney · 07/06/2013 12:08

Not at all, my hours vary from a day a week to three or four and I could still fall asleep where I'm stood some days (and my DC's are older teens!)

My excuse is I married a snorer so I haven't had an unbroken nights sleep in a very very long time.

motherinferior · 07/06/2013 12:08

There is apparently evidence (and let us cherish that evidence dearly) that napping helps you live longer. Nap, girl, it's for your own good!

mrsjay · 07/06/2013 12:08

I ap on the couch if i go to bed i sleep for hours- longer

ditavonteesed · 07/06/2013 12:09

I hate when that happens mrsjay, I always have a nap, do some housework and then stick everybody loves raymond on while I clean the lounge, they have moved it, I find this most disconcerting.

I stuck pick on 1 afternoon and it was dog the bounty hunter and his moobs I was not amused Grin

EleanorFarjeon · 07/06/2013 12:10

I often have a little nap on days off.

Not tired, stressed, unwell or depressed.

I just love sleeping & I am quite lazy.

ditavonteesed · 07/06/2013 12:11

I cant nap on the sofa, dont know why, wish I could. maybe that is a goal I should set myself Grin

OP posts:
MousyMouse · 07/06/2013 12:12

if you need a nap have a nap

try to set a timer to 20 min, followed by a Brew

ElectricSoftParade · 07/06/2013 12:12

I do love all my naps but the supreme one is on a Sunday. I tend to be up early, we go swimming and then back home for, usually, a roast lunch.

After the lunch, the DCs tend to carry the paper and a cup of tea upstairs for me without being asked. They know the routine Grin. But bed-napping is a Sunday pleasure, am usually on the couch.

EleanorFarjeon · 07/06/2013 12:12

I go & get into bed. No sofa naps for me.

dizzy77 · 07/06/2013 12:13

I'm a napper (though DS2 born 4 days ago and can I get off when he does? No!)

I always think of it as paying off my sleep debt. Some people need more sleep to stay in credit, as it were: it rarely impacts on overnight sleep duration. I need more than DH and am happy to use free time in what he considers "unproductive" sleep. I do find though if I minimise carbs at lunch the urge reduces.

zipzap · 07/06/2013 12:13

my darling dad, sadly no longer alive, used to come home for lunch every day - he'd drive in through the gate on the dot of 1pm, have his lunch, have a snooze and wake up just as the neighbours theme tune was playing (mum in the mean time would have had her lunch and watched neighbours - and then had a nap when dad went back to work Grin), and then he'd drive back to work at 1.55pm.

He swore by it, did it for as long as I can remember. Probably helped that it was his own company but he certainly didn't mind other members that were working at the base office doing exactly the same thing!

MortifiedAdams · 07/06/2013 12:14

Wjy would you not nap?

ditavonteesed · 07/06/2013 12:14

20 mins Shock that I could justify

OP posts:
mrsjay · 07/06/2013 12:17

congrats dizzy you will still be running on new baby adrenalin Smile

ExcuseTypos · 07/06/2013 12:17

Could you be anaemic?

I had to have a nap every afternoon, but I also had other symptoms- heavy periods and feeling dizzy.

I found out I was very anaemic, after blood tests. Was on iron tablets for 9 months and was also given some medication to stop heavy periods. The difference in my energy levels has been amazing.

Ilikethebreeze · 07/06/2013 12:19

If you need it, you need it imo.

namelessposter · 07/06/2013 12:22
