it is flaming ridiculous, there is so much that needs to be done and all I can think about is sleep.

Why not? I do if I get half a chance, it does me good Smile

DragonMamma · 07/06/2013 11:36

YANBU

I work very very part time and I fall asleep most afternoons when DC2 is napping.

I think 6yrs of sleep deprivation has finally caught up. I can easily have an hour or two in the afternoon and still be falling asleep at 11pm.

emsyj · 07/06/2013 11:37

Them Europeans nap every day, don't they? It's warm out, maybe your body is telling you it's siesta time.

StealthPolarBear · 07/06/2013 11:37

I often do

bigkidsdidit · 07/06/2013 11:38

I love a nap! If you are not depressed and are sure you have no thyroid problems I think it's fine. Some people just need more sleep :)

OHforDUCKScake · 07/06/2013 11:39

If that was me Id be questioning my iron levels.

But thats because its unusual for me to need sleep before 9pm and its not unusual to find my iron levels in my boots.

Is it unusual for you to need to nap?

havingamadmoment · 07/06/2013 11:39

Well it depends if you dont get enough sleep or if you work is really busy/stressful. If so then a nap is fine! if NOT then you should get tested for anemia etc - I felt like this for ages and it turned I was really anemic!

GoblinGranny · 07/06/2013 11:39

Power naps are fantastic.
It's not really the physical tiredness that is crippling, but the mental stress and accumulation of all the little bits that exhaust you.
Nap for two or three hours if you can, then work. Or have a bubblebath.

SirChenjin · 07/06/2013 11:40

If you can get away with having a nap, then have a nap is what I say - naps are fab! As long as you are fit and healthy, and it's not the sign of something being wrong, then snooze away Grin

ditavonteesed · 07/06/2013 11:41

I am definatly not depressed, and have had my thyroid tested within an inch of its life. I do very much enjoy a good nap, and actually do more in half an hour after a nap than I would do in 2 before. At the moment I am studying and should be writing an essay on brain functions but I want to be asleep.

Why not? You're a grown woman who can make her own decisions. Nothing wrong with a siesta.

Pootles2010 · 07/06/2013 11:43

Mm...nap...Yes i would have one if i could Grin

As emsj says, have a siesta, then work a bit later tonight.

GoblinGranny · 07/06/2013 11:44

' I do very much enjoy a good nap, and actually do more in half an hour after a nap than I would do in 2 before.'

See?
Ditch the guilt and have a nap. Grin

ElectricSoftParade · 07/06/2013 11:45

I love napping and think the world would be a better place if more folks had a nice nap.

Sets me up for the rest of the day. I do have one most days, in fact, if I don't I find myself thinking "No nap today Shock".

mrsjay · 07/06/2013 11:46

Inap daily enjoy your nap it does you good, I have a napping blankie and everything

ElectricSoftParade · 07/06/2013 11:48

I have a particular blanket too MrsJay Grin.

Latara · 07/06/2013 11:48

I work part time and find i often need a lie-in on my days off & an early night too but then i'm on lots of medication that makes me drowsy (and is the reason i'm part time).

Some advice i've been given includes:

Get up at the same time each day (no later than 9am) and go for a walk (so far i've not followed that advice but i will...);

Sleep for no more than 1 hour during the day (definitely works for me - anymore and i just feel more tired);

Eat foods that contain lots of energy but avoid too much caffeine;

Have a set routine at bed time (again i need to follow that advice myself).

MidniteScribbler · 07/06/2013 11:48

Nothing wrong with a good nana nap. I have long since got past the guilt of hunkering under the doona for an hour in the afternoon when I get the chance.

Mumsyblouse · 07/06/2013 11:48

I have a nap on the weekends, work full-time, I would have some difficulty keeping awake in the afternoons without it (only one, perhaps two a week). I have wondered if my iron levels are low, but the week is so exhausting with work, children's school runs, shopping, cleaning the whole thing, that by Sat or Sun lunchtime, I'm just ready for a lie down.

I only work weekends and I always have a nap during weekdays when DS is at school. I love my naps

freddiefrog · 07/06/2013 11:50

I love having a nap

I'm having a lazy day today, day off and have the house to myself. I've just eaten a bacon sandwich the size of my head and am considering a little snooze to aid digestion Grin

giantpenguinmonster · 07/06/2013 11:57

Nowt wrong with a god nap.

I bet you don't exactly sit around playing video games the rest of the day OP.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 07/06/2013 11:57

I'm not a napper but I think some people just need them. If you do, and you're not worried that there are underlying health problems, then go for it and don't feel bad!

freddiefrog, you've made me crave a bacon sandwich now Grin

wonderingsoul · 07/06/2013 12:00

i would love to be a napper...
naps allways make me feel worse then i did before... still try to have a nap though.. then wish i hadnt. Grin
