it is flaming ridiculous, there is so much that needs to be done and all I can think about is sleep.

OP posts:
kickassangel · 07/06/2013 17:13

I am supervising a room of teenagers doing art work. Napping right now could be a bad idea, but so tempting.

noisytoys · 07/06/2013 17:21

I nap every day but I'm up for work at 4 every day so I'm sleep deprived.

ConfusedPixie · 07/06/2013 19:35

I nap Monday-Wednesday afternoons (my three half days at work). I have fibromyalgia and it's the only way I manage to get through scouts on a Monday and climbing on a Tuesday! Without my naps I end up crashing on a Friday night as soon as I finish work and losing the weekend.

SirBoobAlot · 07/06/2013 19:46

I love nap time. Do have a handful of conditions which are partially responsible for this. But generally, I just love nap time.

raisah · 07/06/2013 19:51

why not? If I get a chance I will sleep for an hour or two in the afternoon it does me the world of good. I do make sure I drink a large glass of water to stop me from feeling groggy when I wake up.

Makinglists · 07/06/2013 19:55

I work two days a week and DS2 still has a nap most days (hoping I can keep him going a few more months) so I nearly always have a power nap - today it was prob no more than 10 mins but made a the difference from feeling knackered to just a bit tired. I am a very early waker and get up by 6.30 at the latest (today I was awake at 5.25) and bit of a crap sleeper so my naps make me sane again.

FeijoaVodkaStat · 07/06/2013 20:04

science says napping is good for you Shock

You can't beat a good nap

Babyroobs · 07/06/2013 20:08

I always nap on mydays off. I work part time night shifts and am always tired. It's the only way I can catch up on much needed sleep.

BasketzatDawn · 07/06/2013 20:19

But don't you find a wee nap helps you get all those vv important tasks done later? I've worked nights with small children and useless DH, now got long term illness a feature of which is fatigue, plus autistic son who does nocturnal hamster on wheel imitation regularly, and siesta does make a difference to how I cope with it all. If even one of those factors applies to you, not necessarily special needs but just young DCs who haven't read books by 'sleep guru types', then YABU and a tad hard on yourself. If it's a new thing, then it's worth getting checked over (blood tests etc), just in case you have one of the conditions others have mentioned. ALSO, I find not comparing myself to others who have more energy/easier circs does help me to hold my head high and just do what I need to do to survive. You wanna a leaf out my book, OP? Grin

girliefriend · 07/06/2013 22:08

I once looked after a 100 year old lady who was in excellent health and when I asked her what the secret was she smiled and said 'a nap my dear every afternoon at 3pm' Smile

littlewhitebag · 07/06/2013 23:07

I haven't read all the posts but all I can say is that I work part time and on my days off I nap every afternoon. It's my time, I can do as I please. My kids are older but my pup gets me up early every day. I love napping.

Balaboosta · 08/06/2013 08:51

I'm a napper too. Wish though, like OP, it didn't make me feel sooooo guilty!

TroublesomeEx · 08/06/2013 09:00

Oh I love a good nap!

It's one of my favourite things. It doesn't make me feel guilty in the slightest. I do plenty of important stuff when I'm awake.

Jestrin · 08/06/2013 11:03

I'm not a napper either. Like WonderingSoul I feel ten times worse. If it isn't normal for you then I would be having a chat to my GP but if you aren't sleeping properly or are stressed, have a nap and don't feel guilty!

CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 08/06/2013 11:10

I love a nap, and usually feel so much better or it, and am much more productive after one.

HollyBerryBush · 08/06/2013 11:16

DHs work has power napping rooms Hmm

TapselteerieO · 08/06/2013 11:32

I am not a napper either, wake up grumpy and feel awful after one usually for the whole day.

I do absolutely love lying in a hammock doing nothing at all, it is my version of a nap - I want an indoor hammock, and a house big enough for an indoor hammock, or this, maybe with a wood burning stove would help me get my perfect place to take it easy.... Might not go with my ex- council semi with tiny garden though.

MrsCosmopilite · 08/06/2013 11:34

Oh I need naps about 4 days out of 7. I've got an active toddler who won't go to sleep until late and then wakes early. So when she sleeps, so do I.

KeatsiePie · 08/06/2013 11:53

I wish napping refreshed me. It's always a disaster though. I turn off the alarm or sleep through it and wake up hours later, and then my plan of getting things done is totally fucked. Then I can't get to sleep later.

I wish I could nap, I really love the peace of falling asleep in the afternoon light, but it's such a bad trap.

TroublesomeEx · 08/06/2013 14:26

Oooh lovely

Have just woken up from a 1 and a half hour nap!

Lovely Smile

Jojobump1986 · 08/06/2013 14:38

I had no idea so many other people had naps! I always feel embarrassed when I admit to napping. I think I just need more sleep than other people. I once worked a normal 9-5 job for a summer & used to actually get dizzy in the afternoons & I'd fall asleep on the sofa within minutes of getting in. Nothing wrong with my thyroid & my folate/iron levels are on the low side of normal but not so low that they'd be affecting me like that.

Tbh, it's one of the reasons I don't ever plan on having a 'proper' job if I can avoid it. I just can't function without my naps! Blush

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 08/06/2013 14:46

I love naps. A colleague thinks it's hysterical that my favourite thing to do after work is a quick nap.
My favourite is lying on my bed with the sun streaming in through the window so I'm all sun warmed, and reading until I doze off. Heaven!

justwondering72 · 08/06/2013 15:13

So envious of all the afternoon nap takers here! What do you all do with your children while you are snoozing? Mine are 5 and 2 and never let me go and lie down alone!

TroublesomeEx · 08/06/2013 15:14

Mine are either at school, with their dad, or entertain themselves. They know that I like a good nap. My daughter (7) likes to take a nap with me. Lying on the sofa with a blanket and a film having a cuddle and a nap is one of her favourite things too Blush

CatsAndTheirPizza · 08/06/2013 15:18

Like most of us on here, you're probably still catching up with a decade or so of broken sleep.
