Ian brady i mean

minouminou · 30/05/2013 23:26

It's a real vexed question, Boomba. It's similar to hostage situations and the UK govt not paying ransoms. You KNOW why it's a bad thing, but.....you'd be climbing the walls if your DC were the hostages.

Snazzywaitingforsummer · 30/05/2013 23:26

HoHoHo yes, I think this would be the way to go

Minouminou I think this is a very real possibility, unfortunately. The Joneses seem like a strong couple - hopefully they will be able to accept that we probably know what happened to April, to the extent we ever will, and avoid having to beg MB for info.

Boomba · 30/05/2013 23:28

i dont think it is the same as a hostage situation. I agree, Id think different if it were 1 of mine, but you can see that a government cant bargain with hostage takers

Some evil sadist though....

if the child were still alive

yaimee · 30/05/2013 23:29

I think they think he will have had to dispose of what was left in the burner min Sad Angry
I think that's what they are looking for.
I can't think of many instances where this would be the case boomba but I think it would definitely be open to abuse if it were the law.
Once you open the door to something like that it becomes open to interpretation by those who have the power to enact the law and can easily be abused, and that abuse justified in a court.

HoHoHoNoYouDont · 30/05/2013 23:31

Or, put him and those like him on an island. The type of place where life barely exists. Let them fight for survival, scraping together food instead of meals being served to them. Fighting each other to survive, watching their backs every second of every day.

I think I'd better stop now. That vile shit of a man is bringing the worst out in me.

pigletmania · 30/05/2013 23:31

Another Ian Brady. He never did tell Winny Johnson were he buried her son Sad

TSSDNCOP · 30/05/2013 23:32

Suck it's the press that give Brady oxygen to continue to torment the families of his heinous doings. There should be a news black out on these criminals as part of there sentence. Literally lock them up away from free society in every sense.

edam · 30/05/2013 23:33

I feel sorry particularly for Bridger's daughter who used to play with April - God knows how that poor child will cope, growing up with the knowledge that her father killed her friend.

suckmabigtoe · 30/05/2013 23:35

The news would get out somehow though tss - other prisoners would talk to press through their familes. But yes i agree, the media played a part in the taunting of the families

minouminou · 30/05/2013 23:36

This is exactly it, Yaimee. Govt sanctioned torture and all.
In cases like this, you have to be led by the parents. They are the people who are really feeling it, who will always feel it. If they can find acceptance and act with good grace, then we should respect that.
When I saw that one of Winnie Jackson's (the mother of Moors murder victim Keith Bennett) letters to Ian Brady started off: Dear Mr Brady....such dignity. Even though she died without ever knowing where her son was buried, I think she defeated the scumbag by showing such class and grace.

janey68 · 30/05/2013 23:36

I doubt there is anything more bridger could tell
Aprils parents regarding where her body is. He confessed to how he disposed of it and sadly its extremely unlikely that she can ever be found now

TSS agree completely.
I cannot believe how much the press can and do court people like this.
The 'crossbow cannibal' springs to mind. He regrets to himself like this in court, knowing that the press will eat it up, knowing that it will raise his profile and feed the fantasy image that he has created for himself and the press happily oblige.
The worst punishment for him would have been for him to be completely ignored.

Boomba · 30/05/2013 23:39

she didnt defeat the scumbag, in anyway what so ever Sad

Snazzywaitingforsummer · 30/05/2013 23:40

I do feel very sorry indeed for all Bridger's kids. Imagine having to grow up with that knowledge of who your father is and what he did. I don't know whether they will stay in the area or not but it's terrible for them either way.

minouminou · 30/05/2013 23:40

Winnie Johnson, yes, not Jackson.

Joiningthegang · 30/05/2013 23:40

I'm with Janey too

Snazzywaitingforsummer · 30/05/2013 23:40

miemohrs Yes, he has six children.

yaimee · 30/05/2013 23:41

*referee

yaimee · 30/05/2013 23:42

Oh fgs refers

LifeHope11 · 30/05/2013 23:43

I honestly don't care what happens to him, I really don't think he is worth bothering about. I wouldn't presume to say what the family of the child victim should think of him; but in my view his life isn't worth tuppence anyway as anyone who murders a child is better off dead.

The only rationale for sparing his life, or not torturing him to death, is to demonstrate that we are not even remotely like him. Lots of very honourable people disagree and believe in capital punishment; I just think an 'eye for an eye' is not possible for creatures like him, they are inferior specimens of much less worth than their victims.

Whether this individual goes speedily or slowly to hell, I don't much care.

HOWEVER he should never ever be allowed to see the light of day again and must spend the rest of his life in jail. Those who commit crimes like these have forfeited their right to belong among us, to be part of the community ever again.

Kacie1985 · 30/05/2013 23:43

I didn't hear that about his daughter Edam...OMG Sad

minouminou · 30/05/2013 23:46

But if Brady had been put to death, Winnie would have lost all hope, and you can't bring back the death penalty to stop one sadistic shitbag from having a laugh.

I really think Winnie outshone him, with her hope and her indefatigabity. She went on to remarry and to have more children, and to be able to remain purposeful and resolute, without resorting to threats, or anger.

Euclase · 30/05/2013 23:48

What Booma said.
