to think our Prime Minister and his family are entitled to a summer holiday abroad?

Heaven knows I loathe the man's policies but surely he and his family are entitled to a week or two in the sun? A couple of nutters murdered an innocent man but he'd just be giving more publicity to their "cause" if he cancelled his family trip to Ibiza?

Biscuit
CloudsAndTrees · 27/05/2013 10:53

I haven't read the article you linked but have seen this discussed on the news.

YANBU. Of course the PM is entitled to time off work, the same as anyone else who has a job is. The fact that he is in Ibiza is irrelevant.

He has the kind of job where there will always be something that he could be attending to, as many people do, sometimes family has to take priority. Isn't that why we have a deputy PM?

MeiMeiMeiMei · 27/05/2013 10:55

what was the point of the biscuit - or are you too inarticulate to explain?

a) I won't link on DM links and you'll find I'm not alone
b)I greatly object to your assertion that he and his family are entitled to a summer holiday abroad.
There are many of us who have been unable to afford a holiday anywhere for years yet work extremely hard.

Is that articulate enough for you?
Brain in gear before you post, dear.

LadyBeagleEyes · 27/05/2013 10:59

I can't stand the man, but even as one of his haterz, I really see no problem him having a few days away.

ExitPursuedByABear · 27/05/2013 10:59

I bet his pr people are tearing their hair out at the front page of The Telegraph.

I am not one for knee jerk reactions but I think in this instance it looks bad. He gets paid well and it is not a job for life so a few sacrifices would not go amiss.

deepfriedsage · 27/05/2013 11:00

I haven't read the article. I can't see a problem with himtaking a family holiday.

EllieArroway · 27/05/2013 11:02

Er....VerySmallSqueak - I haven't had a holiday abroad for years either, but I certainly don't resent people who can afford it having one. What an odd attitude.

Your biscuit is quite rude. It's a legitimate question about an article making headlines today.

LeatherTuscadero · 27/05/2013 11:02

No, but it is a job for a large part of his children's upbringing. So why shouldn't he participate in their holidays?

Even though I didn't vote for him.

McBalls · 27/05/2013 11:02

It's only hard-of-thinking types who froth over something like this, isn't it?

CloudsAndTrees · 27/05/2013 11:02

What would he actually do if he were here anyway? Is there anything that he could do from the UK that he couldn't do from Ibiza, or that NC couldn't do on his behalf?

Or do some people think he should just be in the country out of respect or something?

Saski · 27/05/2013 11:03

I agree with Clouds. I don't like "entitled" or "deserve" when it comes to material goods, but certainly he's entitled to time off. I hardly think a holiday in Ibiza is cause for grumbling, he could obviously afford to do something quite a lot more far-flung than Spain.

I hate this whole juxtaposition thing. There's bad things going on at any time. It's a pointless argument.

manicinsomniac · 27/05/2013 11:03

of course YANBU. It hardly sounds like a luxury holiday and, even if it is, so what?! People go on holiday all the time, he's no different.

verysmallsqueak - are you joking? Because you can't afford a holiday nobody else should get one either? If you can afford to pay for a holiday why on earth aren't you entitled to have it?

HollyBerryBush · 27/05/2013 11:03

I agree. I gaze about me and fail to see 'a nation gripped by terror'.

Although I think he's BU going to a shite hole like Ibiza Grin SamCam deserves more

I don't think a week in Ibiza is an inalienable human right, no.

But I don't give a damn that he's gone on his hols.

Dominodonkey · 27/05/2013 11:04

A few sacrifices.... Whatever you may think about any pm- you can't say that they don't work hard.
This was a horrific incident but it is not a national emergency and to treat is as such gives these two pieces of scum far more credit than they deserve.
And very so no one should have a holiday as you can't afford one- grow up!

MeiMeiMeiMei · 27/05/2013 11:04

SmallSqueak - millions of people do open DM links. You choose not to which is fine but hardly warrants a biscuit, you could have engaged in the discussion without opening the link.

And plenty of us work hard and can afford a holiday abroad. That's just life, dear.

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 27/05/2013 11:05

Of course he is...but being in a position of leadership means timing things well. Swanning off this week was misguided.

Summerloading · 27/05/2013 11:06

Agree with you, OP.

ItsallisnowaFeegle · 27/05/2013 11:06

My personal opinion is that due to this man and his bastardised government there are people, families in this country who are relying on charitable donations from food banks (only for two weeks or so, though) to feed themselves and their children.

His holiday makes me sick!

Spend time with your family, yes, but as the leader of this fucking mess our country, he should be setting an example and not jetting off to fucking Ibiza.

Moxiegirl · 27/05/2013 11:07

It's half term and he has children. I don't like him but cannot see the requirement for him to cancel his holiday.

VerySmallSqueak · 27/05/2013 11:07

EllieI don't resent people who have a holiday abroad in the slightest.
Where did I say I resented them?
Confused

I was making a point about the assertion that the pm is entitled to a holiday abroad.

Actually,I think making 'no comment' was the most polite response I could find.

HollyBerryBush · 27/05/2013 11:08

PM or not, he has a right to a quality family life. And seeing as he's taken his office and flunkies with him, we are in an internet age, and he's 3 hours from London, I'm not seeing the problem.

If he'd gone to Cornwall again this year, it would take him forever to get back should here be a domestic crisis, with traffic jams, bank holiday traffic and roadworks.

It's all a bit of a non story
