www.gov.uk/.../DoH_8412_Measl...

Sorry, am on my phone so link may not work, it's an mmr leaflet given out by email by our local primary. I am very much pro-vaccination but am gobsmacked that "some mothers" are being singled out as to blame for the outbreaks. Ot's a government leaflet ffs!!

Some mothers chose not to vaccinate...

Yep, not parents, it's the fault of those damn wimmin again

I am pro vaccinations too. But they are a choice, which parents may choose to accept or choose to decline.

Off to actually read the damn thing now.

cornypedicure · 19/05/2013 20:34

ah yes I found it.

tsk - shoddy work

CSIJanner · 19/05/2013 20:36

I love how it singles out mothers and not fathers. Because its always the woman, isn't it? Hmm

I know of two couples who haven't vaccinated out of counscious choice due to the fathers concerns. They've discussed it and the OH has respected the dads choice and arguments not to.

Personally, me - am pro-vac. I'd rather the pain of the injection than the possibility of deafness, death, severe complications etc but I wouldn't have a pop at anyone who has made that choice unless they bring their infectious child out socially when still contagious.

Is there anything mothers arent at fault for?
Wait for the zombie apocalypse. That will be our fault too.

MrsMargoLeadbetter · 19/05/2013 20:39

Really poor form. Says leaflet is produced by Public Health England.

Off to investigate who to complain to. Will post back if I work it out, maybe ASA....

DoctorAnge · 19/05/2013 20:40

Fucking hell Angry

LaChaiseVerte · 19/05/2013 20:42

MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 19/05/2013 20:44

I have just complained to NHS and cc the Fawcett Society. It really pissed me off. Really, massively.

gordyslovesheep · 19/05/2013 20:47

YADNBU - that is shockingly sexist

LaChaiseVerte · 19/05/2013 20:47

Me too, Moaning! So much so I had to post here rather than rant to myself!

I agree with pp in that it's not just that one sentence but the wider sexist implications too.

ItsOkayItsJustMyBreath · 19/05/2013 20:50

In my eyes YANBU but in the view of the government you probably are.

glenthebattleostrich · 19/05/2013 20:51

Did you not realise that poor downtrodden men are not able to make any kind of decision about children. If they try to think about anything child related their testicles shrivel and fall off.

thebody · 19/05/2013 20:54

Disgraceful and factually incorrect.

FJL203 · 19/05/2013 20:58

I'm not shocked. It's just the sort of crap I've come to expect on the subject. I'm bloody annoyed though.

notbotheredreally · 19/05/2013 21:06

cant believe someone had the time to nit pick through a leaflet , god you must be bored :)

LaChaiseVerte · 19/05/2013 21:17

No, notbothered I read it, and had a strong reaction to an element of it's content. Not sure "nitpicking" would take any more time. Boredom is not something I suffer from, luckily.
