I need to vent. Why does it seem the world and his wife has an opinion on your flippin buggy!!
I am looking to buy (from Gps as a present) 7 month old Dd a new buggy. I love the bugaboos but i just dont think i can afford a decent one so ive been looking at different styles for her.
No matter what i pick it seems to come under fire. So i thought sod it, im going with what WE like!!

WE like a Quinny Buzz 3, in black for £100. I think unpon research this is good?
Now ive just heard i will look chavvy, they are cheap and naff, common and nasty.
WELL im buying it arent i? Cant people just be nice and non judgey???

Please dont flame me for this because i do know peoples opinions get to me too much. Could you suggest a suitable response please? Also what you think of the Quinny!

AIBU to still even look at the Quinny?
or AIBU to give a shit on thoughts?

I don't even notice what buggy people have they are not important, get what ever you like and can afford and be done with it.

I personally buy an obscene amount of £70 brightly coloured none well known brand buggies because they are suitable from newborn and come with cosy toes and rain covers, and I use each one perhaps once or twice and then give them to clients with baby's or children who need them after fleeing DV and pretend they are proper donations from members of the public,I'm pretty sure my admin assistant is on to me tho but I don't care.

Oldandcobwebby · 08/05/2013 23:05

I love my Buzz 3. Ninety two quid on eBay, complete with all accessories. Different folks - different strokes. There aren't enough hours in the day to be bothered judging people for their choice of perambulator.

youmaycallmeSSP · 08/05/2013 23:07

I would judge you for having this pram. Apart from that, I don't really care.

Whatsthatnoise · 08/05/2013 23:08

I love to look at peoples buggies but I don't judge in the same way i like to look at cars even though i can't drive Grin

I started out with the ugliest Graco travel system, then wanted parent facing so got the Loola Up shite buggy, I then had a second hand maclaren for 1 day and I broke the brake so i got a mamas and papas umbrella fold eventually the wheel fell off.

I now have a petite star zia x I LOVE IT and a Maclaren Major SN buggy I hate it My dd is nearly 4.5 so I'll need to get over my hatred for the Maclaren soon but I would recommend the Zia X to anyone Grin

WafflyVersatile · 08/05/2013 23:42

Next time someone has a go tell them you chose it because it came with a free vibrator and foxtail butt plug.

That'll learn 'em.

WafflyVersatile · 08/05/2013 23:44

SSP I would applaud anyone who walked that pram down the street.

Bogeyface · 08/05/2013 23:50

I would, but in a sympathetic way because before DD insisted on walking everywhere (sob!) I was pushing a British Racing Green 1960's vintage coach built Silver Cross, so in a pram off, I always won :o

Bogeyface · 08/05/2013 23:52

Oh and it cost me a fraction of the cost of a Bugaboo or similar, so I win on that too. My environmental credentials thanks to reusing an old one are also up there!

Shame I feed the poor kid Greggs and Fruit Shoots really.....:o

IneedAyoniNickname · 08/05/2013 23:59

I was pg with ds2, at the same time as sil was pg with her ds1.

I decided on a silver cross sleepover, which perfectly suits my needs. I don't drive and rarely use public transport so small and easy to fold wasn't an issue. It had a big basket for shopping, which as a non driver I needed to carry home.

Sil had picked a loola, which suited her needs. She had a tiny tiny boot when all 7 seats on her cat were up, so needed something that folded easily and small. Plus she didn't need space for shopping as she only ever carried it as far as the car.

Mil kept nagging about how the loola was sooooooo much better, and why didnt I get one. Angry

When the dc were born, imo my ds looked far more comfy in his pram, than dn did in the pushchair (she didn't get the carrycot). I also didnt like the feel of the fabric of the loola, and didn't like pushing it either. Sil however, probably preferred hers, and wouldnt admit it if she didn't!

ssp my friend was planning on that pram, although in a plainer colour, without the zebra print trim.

domesticslattern · 08/05/2013 23:59

dontmindifido
Have a look at the Petite Star bubble- a newish umbrella fold which can be parent facing, also you can buy a carry cot for it.
The footprint is the same as my Mclaren, easy one handed fold and it is very nippy for public transport. The only time I judge is when I can't get on the bus because of enormoprams and I think, if you silly people had bought a pram with a narrower wheel base or that you knew how to fold, I wouldn't be late for work this morning.

BennettsBiscuit · 09/05/2013 01:54

sockreturningpixie that is lovely! We are hoping to give our buggy to the local womens refuge when we're done with it.

CouthySaysEatChoccyEggs · 09/05/2013 02:45

I never judge people on their pushchairs, because surely people choose a pram based on what fits their life (or car boot) the best?!

After going through 4 DC's, 15 years, and 30+ pushchairs, I know that the BJCM suits me best. (Wish I had found that out years ago, but never mind...).

If a Quinny suits your family the best, what does it matter what other people think?

This time round, with DS3, all I considered when looking for a pushchair was 1) Could it fit a very tall 2/3yo in, 2) Does it have an enormous basket, and 3) Does it fold down small and easily. Anything after that was immaterial!

The BJCM fitted those specs, so that's what I've got.

And I'm a pram-aholic...

Twattybollocks · 09/05/2013 07:01

I don't judge what pushchair people have, but I do judge grubby food smeared pushchairs I'm afraid, it's just scruffy.
Do think twice about the buzz, you could get a second hand bugaboo frog which looks the same as the cameleon for the same money. The buzz looks lovely, but the back wheels are very wide, the seat isn't very big, the hood is too small to offer decent shade in the summer, the basket is very small and it's huge and heavy if you fold it with the seat on (actually its still pretty heavy if you fold it without the seat on and still very wide unless you take the wheels off) lastly its hard to steer with an older baby/toddler in it

RooneyMara · 09/05/2013 07:36

Tethers - I actually prefer yours!! I was shocked at the prices too - ours came from someone's council garage in an old mining village that's renowned for being quite dangerous after dark.

It was in lovely condition. I left it in the garden unfortunately and the rain got in, so the finish went all funny - they're made of wood - and eventually sold it on for about £40 to someone who restores prams.

I'm sure they made a packet on it but I still just feel sad for spoiling such a nice thing. I did feel a bit daft using it though, I have to admit - I don't like being stared at! That was partly why I stopped but it was fairly hard to operate, very high centre of gravity which you don't want with a baby in there.

Leonie, I would not 'judge' exactly with the wayfarer but it was one of the first prams I ever bought, from a charity shop, and I think there was something wrong with mine because it kept slipping and going flat when I wanted it sitting up! luckily it was only a fiver. So I'd think 'Oh goodness why are you putting up with that thing!'

But if other people find them good then mine must have been duff.

RooneyMara · 09/05/2013 07:37

Couthy I see your 30+ and raise you 70 Blush

Londonseye · 09/05/2013 07:50

OP I had a stokke for ds and then bought a new one for DD. people thought I was bonkers and I didn't care. But we travelled a lot and needed boot space so ended up with a Quinny zapp. Great buggy. I don't judge any pram or pushchair I see.

CoolaSchmoola · 09/05/2013 07:57

I don't care what other people have, off the top of my head I'm not even sure what a Bugaboo looks like.

I had a Quinny though, and initially loved it - so light, so easy to push... Until I took it on a bit of a trek.

I got blisters from the handles, back ache because it was too low (didn't feel it in the shop) and my wrists ached because the handles are at funny angles. All in all I was in so much discomfort that I immediately sold it and bought a Maclaren - which is a dream to push, fold, everything. I love it, and I got it for £152 by searching through Kelkoo then got another £8 back by ordering via Topcashback.

TiredyCustards · 09/05/2013 08:02

I don't care at all.

Although I have recently seen how much some buggies sell for (£800-£1000) and was Shock and Confused that people spend that much.

This is very weird - judging on buggies brands? Colours? assumed chavviness? ive never come across this (and im rather relieved!). My dc are now 13, 11, 9. We bought a from birth recliner buggy umbrella fold Maclaren from mothercare for £60. Spent more on the backpack!

Did 3 dc then we got a Major for dd2 till she was almost 7. It came free from the hospital physios, though.

I judge when someone with a buggy won't give priority to a wheelchair. When someone with a massive buggy refused to move so I had to fold the Major with a 6 year old under my arm who was banned from weight bearing but the only seats were at the back of the bus. And now, when people tut and roll their eyes when they can't get a huge buggy into a lift (ooh! They'll have to wait 3 minutes for the next one!!) because I'm in front of them IN MY WHEELCHAIR!

Personally I had better things to spend my money on than a buggy. But I only judge behaviour. And there certainly seems to be a "my big buggy is more important than you" attitude amongst some people!

MakeItUpAsYouGoAlong · 09/05/2013 09:02

Rooney- how many do you have?! Wink

Okay okay- right I'm going to try a quinny and look at it today with DD. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a + on the one we have for our needs but how do I get out of purchasing if I don't like, second hand you see?
And I'm such a yes person!

jacks365 · 09/05/2013 09:11

Weegiemum some people are appalling. I fold or get off if a wheelchair needs the space, they have priority full stop. only happened about 4 times so far. I am sick though of not being able to get out of lifts because of all the pushchairs at the doors.

oscarwilde · 09/05/2013 09:21

I'll only judge you if its bright Barbie
pink or Burberry check styleee Grin
Or if you fit twin exhausts and stuck a ghettoblaster in the changing bag...
Wtf is wrong with a Quinny? Bit heavy I thought (bad back) but its a sodding pram.

RooneyMara · 09/05/2013 09:21

Oh good luck...go along, try it out, say you like it but will think about it/ have to measure the boot of your car.

Then ring/email later to say it won't fit.

scarletsalt · 09/05/2013 09:24

I am usually Hmm at the posters who clamber on to every thread to be the first to declare that they don't give a shot about what other people do blah blah, because anyone who says they Never Judge is not telling the truth.

However, people judging pushchair is just weird. I will admit that after 28 years of not noticing pushchair at all, I developed an interest in different brands/styles of pushchair when I was pregnant. But judging a person on their choice of pushchair?

We got given a second-hand bugaboo for free and while it is quite a good buggy, it has been well and truly overtaken by a 50 quid zeta vooom. I know people who spent over a grand on a bugaboo complete with liner, footmuff, parasol etc only to get an umbrella fold (McLaren techno xt of course!) When the baby was 6 months old!
