I need to vent. Why does it seem the world and his wife has an opinion on your flippin buggy!!
I am looking to buy (from Gps as a present) 7 month old Dd a new buggy. I love the bugaboos but i just dont think i can afford a decent one so ive been looking at different styles for her.
No matter what i pick it seems to come under fire. So i thought sod it, im going with what WE like!!

WE like a Quinny Buzz 3, in black for £100. I think unpon research this is good?
Now ive just heard i will look chavvy, they are cheap and naff, common and nasty.
WELL im buying it arent i? Cant people just be nice and non judgey???

Please dont flame me for this because i do know peoples opinions get to me too much. Could you suggest a suitable response please? Also what you think of the Quinny!

AIBU to still even look at the Quinny?
or AIBU to give a shit on thoughts?

I have to stick up for the Quinny Buzz.
I love it! My 3 year old is happy in it and so is my 1 year old. It's great across field and lots of long walks. So easy to push and does come with 2 seats for smaller and larger children. Having said that, I did have the carrycot that went with it as like many others the grandparents bought it and wanted a 'proper' pram.
I don't like the idea that people judge others on their prams though - I chose mine because it suited me the most and I just assume that is what everyone else does Hmm

thermalsinapril · 08/05/2013 20:52

If I was surrounded by people who knew or cared what the most "fashionable" pushchair was, I'd move immediately Grin

Just get whichever one you like! Smile

I have a Britax B Smart 3 and get unreasonably excited when I see another one out and about Grin

ananikifo · 08/05/2013 20:58

I wouldn't judge a pushchair. It's really mean and harsh because most of the time you're judging them for spending less money. I'm really glad I don't know people who do that irl.

I went to Mamas and Papas and looked at the bugaboo bee because I read on the Internet how great it is. I could only afford it used. In person I though the baby rode very low (and far from me!) and it generally seemed flimsier than some others. I ended up buying a new pram that I like better for the cost of a used bee. That taught me not to let the hype and snobbiness affect me.

Everyone should get what they like and what they can afford.

Sparklesandglitter · 08/05/2013 21:07

I love my bugaboo and it cost less than £100 on eBay but don't tell anybody! Wink

MoominsYonisAreScary · 08/05/2013 21:15

commander me too, dont see them about vert often though and do broke the adaptors on the seat Sad

pantsjustpants · 08/05/2013 21:15

My dc's are aged 24, 21, 6 & 16mths so I've had all sorts of prams. My favourite was the big Silver Cross I had for dc2. A big proper pram, I used to pop dc1 in the end when his legs got tired, plus masses of shopping underneath.

Now I have a 2nd hand Bugaboo Cam which I adore, its fabulous to push. But now I'm back at work it's wasted sat in the kitchen most of the time plus I have a Maclaren Techno in the car that I use now. Need to sell the Cam but just haven't been able to yet Sad.

I don't judge prams, I judge parents who don't wrap their baby up when it's freezing or have the hood up or a parasol when it's hot.

MakeItUpAsYouGoAlong · 08/05/2013 21:15

Sparkles- I've was looking but prices seems to have gone mad since 'Kate' got one Wink

very and dp bloody predictive text.

Gilberte · 08/05/2013 21:31

I don't use pushchairs for first 8 months and after that I've only really had second hand macclarens. I don't drive and I use them until the wheels have worn away. They last ages are light and easy to fold. They don't take up much space on public transport. They recline (my toddlers always napped in them). What's not to like.

I've never been able to work the brakes on them though!

Pigsmummy · 08/05/2013 21:35

Sorry I meant to add that I love my Hauck travel system

Badvoc · 08/05/2013 21:40

Honestly?
I never notice.
I tend to concentrate on the baby or child in the pram!

ItsallisnowaFeegle · 08/05/2013 21:51

I agree that you shouldn't give a shit, if that's what you want.

I got 22 week old DS' travel system 2nd hand for £55 delivered from eBay.

I have friends who've spent up to £1000 on their's and my DS' pram works just as bloody well theirs are so much more attractive but fuck that

letsgetreadytoramble · 08/05/2013 21:53

I have the new Quinny Zapp (can also be parent facing) and it was around £250 - on what planet is that considered cheap?! Thought I was getting a v fancy one, all my dreams of yummy-mummy-Dom are now blown to shreds. God knows what 'they' would have thought of my old banger of a Graco.

Anyway, Zapp is v lightweight and folds away to a tiny tripod, but whoever said up-thread that the baby's legs end up in the air when it's fully reclined is correct. Also, I now need to get yet another buggy for the bus because this one folds into two pieces. Doh. I do love it though and my small person seems very comfortable in it.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 08/05/2013 22:01

Actually I really don't like the Stokke Xplory, it looks ridiculous. Like a highchair on wheels.

FunnysInLaJardin · 08/05/2013 22:33

hmmph well I loved my Quinny Buzz for both DC and the Quinny Zapp was great for when they were a bit older Anyhoo I don't care now as my DC are both old enough to walk.

FunnysInLaJardin · 08/05/2013 22:35

mind you I do have a nice new Audi so that makes me feel a bit better

Devora · 08/05/2013 22:37

I've had two kids in (cheap) pushchairs and have never heard anybody comment on anybody's buggy. I honestly can't imagine that anyone cares.

raffle · 08/05/2013 22:44

I couldn't pick out any of the buggys you lot are going on about!

I have NO IDEA what a bugaboo or a quinny looks like, and I am a mum of two under five year olds Blush

I have a lovely blue travel system from Argos which was in the sale 5 years ago, I cannot actually recall what brand it is despite carting the new baby about in it all day today!

Prams and pushchairs just don't interest me, so I sure as hell wouldn't be looking at other folk and judging them on the coolness of their pushchairs! Yawn yawn yawn.

Happiestinwellybobs · 08/05/2013 22:46

I don't get the whole pushchair snobbery thing. I have a Quinny Buzz in black. I got it as it was on offer, wheeled round ToysRUs really well, can push one handed whilst walking fat dog and it wouldn't show up muck from fat dog

I'm not a chav and the Buzz is not cheap or nasty. Get what you want OP

quesadilla · 08/05/2013 22:49

Life's just too short to worry about shit like this.

ArtemisKelda · 08/05/2013 22:56

I'm still using DS's old Graco travel system for DD. DS is nearly 7 Grin. Also have a 2nd hand Maclaren umbrella fold for when she's a bit bigger.

I have no clue about the cost of other prams and buggies and couldn't give a shiny shite what anyone else uses.

LadyBeagleEyes · 08/05/2013 22:59

When I joined MN I saw there was an actual buggy topic.
I've never clicked onto it because I got though my life with a small child without thinking it was actually an issue.
But OP, as you seem to have drifted onto AIBU, well yes you are, it's a pushchair for fucks sake.
HTH.

BeingAWifeIsNotForMe · 08/05/2013 23:00

I have a tank of a pram, that even the most ardent non judgers would dislike Grin

It copes with deep dry sand (spent a lot of time on the beach) has huge wheels that cope with claggy mud.

It would be ridiculous on public transport, you have to take the seat off to fold it and there is no catch to keep the chassis folded, but Dd is now 3 and can still lay outstretched without dangling off the edge. and it makes cracking windbreak
