I need to vent. Why does it seem the world and his wife has an opinion on your flippin buggy!!
I am looking to buy (from Gps as a present) 7 month old Dd a new buggy. I love the bugaboos but i just dont think i can afford a decent one so ive been looking at different styles for her.
No matter what i pick it seems to come under fire. So i thought sod it, im going with what WE like!!

WE like a Quinny Buzz 3, in black for £100. I think unpon research this is good?
Now ive just heard i will look chavvy, they are cheap and naff, common and nasty.
WELL im buying it arent i? Cant people just be nice and non judgey???

Please dont flame me for this because i do know peoples opinions get to me too much. Could you suggest a suitable response please? Also what you think of the Quinny!

AIBU to still even look at the Quinny?
or AIBU to give a shit on thoughts?

When ds was that age a relative in italy got ds a nice functional buggy that here would cost very little. it was fine and we were grateful for it and it was properly functional - ie it had wheels, a little rain cover, a tiny thingy underneath for when I go shopping on foot.

Twas great - but in the overall scheme of london competiveness, we were constantly pushed out of the way by the bigger and more expensive buggies. But I didn't care. It was really nice of dh's aunt and it was perfect and very light weight.

Just looked it up Honey - seems like yes it was the wheel issues, I knew about those thankfully, not had any issues with the wheels - thankyou for answering.

I was having panics there about seat unit washers! Smile

I think it was my fault, ds2 undid one side of the folding mech and it was at a bit of an angle, sorted that then 5 minutes later the seat fell down. Hopefully we'll get he hang of it Blush

it is the 2009 one.

We had that issue with the Bee (2011 model). Bugaboo had new wheels and washers out to us a few days after reporting it and it sorted the issue completely.

My first pram was a 1970s Silver Cross coach built pram.

People judged that, but I didn't care. Old ladies LOVED it.

You should be fine Rooney. You'd have noticed significant issues by now. Smile

oh Tethers, you've reminded me of our old LBC (London baby coach) which we had when ds1 was tiny. I used to fill it up with shopping and people peered in saying 'is there a baby in there?' and sure enough there was, under the crisp multipacks...

It was rubbish at steering though, I nearly lost him in a patch of waist high nettles once and stopped using it.

At 7 months the buzz might be a bit unnecessary tbh. It is wide, heavy, very little carrying room, difficult to push and store. However it was one of the few travel systems that fitted in the boot of a mini as it can stand upright with the front wheel between the headrests, bizarrely. So I also have the Zapp and that is much better, has been my buggy of choice since DD was able to sit in it properly. It is a pain to take the seat off if you want to put a car seat on the top though. So it depends how you want to use it.

The new Zapp can be parent facing too I think. Go and have a look somewhere you can try them all out and then look online or secondhand if on a budget.

I only judge if the parent is clearly strutting or being obnoxious in some other way. A buggy is a buggy. I wouldn't be able to tell a bugaboo or I candy because I don't know what they look like, I only recognise my own buggy lol! Poor DC2 is clearly going to be hugely judged if he's still in a sleepsuit and I'm in my pjs on the preschool run... Do I care?

I have a buzz. It's not good. It's too heavy and awkward and I never really used it after dd passed 1.

Look at the BJCM. the city mini really is brilliant if you're a footpaths and shopping centre buggy user.

If you want to go on walks get something with pneumatic tyres like the Out'n'about nipper.

The buzz is not good, I promise.

I got a cheap german brand called Hauck, its a travel system, I have seen people sneer and I don't care. The money saved has been spent on a holiday etc

I wanted a quinny buzz but was too wide for our front door, so got a chameleon as was quite narrow. People judge that tho, and have had funny comments about how it's 'gotta be bugaboo, innit'.
I don't watch any of those reality shoes, which I'm guessing its from, so the dig was sort of lost on me!

Pigsmummy I had a Hauck infinity travel system with ds and it was fab. Second hand from a friend of my parents. Did ds then became the nanny share buggy and did him plus two others. We also had a Jane passed onto us which we keep at GPs as it's great off road, too big for the city although I could push two almost 3 year olds in it when I was 6 months pregnant, the seat was big enough for them to smooch in together!

Now I've an EBay bargain Oyster for dd (the chassis finally gave up on the Hauck and it's great).

But you know what I love about this thread? It's turned into a good old pram chat.

Do I judge people? Nah, there's better things to judge people on than their pram. Apart from the woman I saw (while I was totally sleep deprived deranged with ds and had to check to see if I'd put clothes on to leave the house) who I saw pushing her cherry red pram with matching change bag and who'd taken the trouble to find and buy a matching cherry red coat. She was a beautiful woman, blond, immaculate bob, shouted I'm Groomed with every pore but I did judge that level of attention to detail because I'm incapable of it.

The only other thing I judge is people with umbrella folds who park them on buses unfolded who could easily fold. That makes me snarl.

I only judge when parents don't have the hood up or use a parasol on sunny days as I always feel that the child will end up sunburnt. Other than that I don't take much notice if the brand.

(And I don't judge Quinny's but would say that a friend had one and it was unsteerable, she was forever crashing into people/getting stuck in potholes)

I only judge when people use the massive vile things on buses. If you're going to use public transport, get a cheap stroller.

Don't really care what people think

I have two pushchairs - the travel system we bought before she was born and a mamas and papas lightweight pushchair we bought when hubby went away on a stag weekend with the travel system in the boot of his car. No one has ever made a comment on either pushchair. You shouldn't care what people think as long as your baby is comfy and safe.

Cocoon? Bee?

The Bugaboo Bee has a cocoon instead of a carrycot. Which is great for space saving when they grow out of it. We lived in a two bedroom flat when we had DS and didn't have much storage.

We haven't had any problems with our Bee, we bought ours just after they'd resolved the wheel problem. I'm particularly liking the Neon Pop Bee. But I can't have two!

Leonie, I had a wayfarer with ds1 (now 16!) best pram I ever had and I've had bloody millions (4 dc, love shopping).

The BJCM was also brilliant, especially for an older baby, because the seat was so big and comfy - sometimes older babies look really squashed in buggies which are bulky, but have tiny seats.

Thanks Pobble. I feel like such an old gimmer. DS2 is 11 so very out of touch with new fangled baby stuff. Grin
