I need to vent. Why does it seem the world and his wife has an opinion on your flippin buggy!!
I am looking to buy (from Gps as a present) 7 month old Dd a new buggy. I love the bugaboos but i just dont think i can afford a decent one so ive been looking at different styles for her.
No matter what i pick it seems to come under fire. So i thought sod it, im going with what WE like!!

WE like a Quinny Buzz 3, in black for £100. I think unpon research this is good?
Now ive just heard i will look chavvy, they are cheap and naff, common and nasty.
WELL im buying it arent i? Cant people just be nice and non judgey???

Please dont flame me for this because i do know peoples opinions get to me too much. Could you suggest a suitable response please? Also what you think of the Quinny!

AIBU to still even look at the Quinny?
or AIBU to give a shit on thoughts?

The Quinny Buzz is only 12 cm or so narrower than the Maclaren twin techno.

So yes, it's a really wide pushchair.

Sparklingbrook · 08/05/2013 18:29

I have had to do some googling as never heard of Quinny. They are a bit fugly but I am v out of date. Grin

ClaraOswald · 08/05/2013 18:31

I see an awful lot of prams.

Some are fooking hideous leopard print trim on pale pink leatherette anyone?, I say nothing out loud.

HoneyDragon · 08/05/2013 18:31

Actually, I tell a lie. When ds was wee, I had one of those fugly Gracos. It had huge wheels and the parent console bit held to plastic pint pots, so it was a godsend at festivals.

RooneyMara · 08/05/2013 18:32

Never heard of Quinny??????

Grin
zoobaby · 08/05/2013 18:32

That looks very similar to the Britax I inherited from SIL which is now ferrying its 3rd child around. Great for off-roading and very easy to manouvre, but pretty impractical for getting on the bus (rear doors only and can't fold it without disassembling it). DS is also 7mo and we'll be going for a stroller-type transportation next.

RooneyMara · 08/05/2013 18:33

Yes Gracos do have their uses Grin

Mine lifted off the ground with baby ds1 in it, 10 years ago and the next day I went and got something decent.

lisaro · 08/05/2013 18:33

It's a buggy. The only ones I judge are the absolutely filthy ones, usually carrying an equalky filthy child with a mullet.

alienbanana · 08/05/2013 18:35

What HoneyDragon said.

Quinny Buzz is a shit pushchair and should be taken off the market.

Didn't realise people thought they were common or chavvy though... Weird that people give a shit about pushchairs.

HoneyDragon · 08/05/2013 18:36

Have you come across this Clara, with its Chic leopard print design with metallic embroidery detail?

Grin
RooneyMara · 08/05/2013 18:38

sorry when I say lifted off the ground I mean it was parked on the pavement and a lorry went by, and up it went.

It also blew off a set of steps into a flowerbed, about a metre down...luckily he wasn't in it that time!

alienbanana · 08/05/2013 18:39

Our double buggy was narrower than the buzz! It also actually fitted through the front door, which the quinny didn't.

Fucking bastard thing.

ClaraOswald · 08/05/2013 18:43

My original impression of that one was that it was fuck ugly.

I dislike big game patterns on things anyway. Had it been cow print I might have liked it more.

ZenNudist · 08/05/2013 18:43

Dying to know who the hell you know that is judgey about prams? WTF?! Examples please.

Baby jogger city minis are great. Try one, you'll love the way it folds, makes it really easy to get in a car or on a bus.

I have a bugaboo cam too, it's great not really a posing pram though - it's 'old' colours and always muddy. Anyway ds 2.8 is too big for it now. I suppose if I'm guilty of 'judging' pram owners I might register 'another' bugaboo, (or given mental nod of approval to bjcm users) but only cos it validates my choice. I've never given any thought to other peoples pushchair choices beyond that.

Fairylea · 08/05/2013 18:44

I never even think about what pushchairs other people have! Honestly I've never heard anything so ridiculous :) ... it's just another form of snobbery and I have no time for snobs.

I have a silver cross linear freeway because it was half price in the sale and is built like a tank, as is ds :)

When dd was little we had a cheap as chips fold up buggy as I spent my life on the bus and I needed something that folded up in two seconds.

I've never ever looked at someone's pushchair and made a judgement, unless they have literally a newborn sitting bolt upright or a toddler dangerously hanging out!

tethersend · 08/05/2013 18:45

I had a bugaboo cameleon for DD1 which I built myself from parts bought on eBay. I was pleased to be able to get one this way (cheaper), although it was still ££- still, I thought it was sturdy, safe and solid, and it was worth the price.

Then I forgot to do up the straps and tipped her out into the middle of the road. Face down.

My point is, it doesn't matter how safe the buggy is if the mum is a twat Grin

tethersend · 08/05/2013 18:46

Now have a micralite fastfold superlite and nod to other micralite owners knowingly Wink

Sparklingbrook · 08/05/2013 18:47

I saw this in RL. I judged.

RooneyMara · 08/05/2013 18:50

LOL Tethers, I think many of us have had one of those moments. Ds3 fell out of his Bee on sunday, he was in the cocoon when the seat collapsed. He was sat on the road with only the top of his little tufty head visible, like a small sack of potatoes Grin

No cars

Thank God

HoneyDragon · 08/05/2013 18:50

Tethers. I had a Bugaboo Bee. Which tipped itself over and hurt dd. bugaboo sent me a Cameleon. And then wrote a lot of letters to a lot of owners offering them washers to prevent further baby flinging.

I didn't get cross about it btw. But boy they did. Which impressed me.

Sparklingbrook · 08/05/2013 18:50

Cocoon? Bee? Confused

RooneyMara · 08/05/2013 18:51

Linear Freeways are very solid I think. I sold mine on after a week or so as I had another thing I preferred.

The strongest buggy I ever had was the cosatto T4. It never tipped, and I carried two small cast iron safes I found in a skip, home in the basket - and a load of small bricks as well. It was fine.

RooneyMara · 08/05/2013 18:52

Blimey Honeydragon - washers? Do I need these? I did start a thread earlier asking if tipping children out was normal in these contraptions but no one has replied yet.

HoneyDragon · 08/05/2013 18:54

Which Bee is it and how old is it?

I had both wheel judder and wheel lock together. Which was rather unlucky.

HorryIsUpduffed · 08/05/2013 18:54

Tell me truly you wouldn't judge this PhotoShop triumph though.

I don't judge prams by brand, rather I notice if a pram is unsuitable (eg bad handle height, too bulky/heavy to get on public transport, etc.

I don't much like the ones with cartoon characters on either, but then I'm judging taste, not parenting! Grin
