AIBU?

To think Victoria Beckham really has it all? Baby Harper is too adorable for words

including her other kids.

I don't know if it's pretty shallow (but I like fancy stuff Grin) but I can't see many women refusing her life and wardrobe. I could do without the fame - have no interest in that at all.

VB has managed to:

  • Stay thin (something a lot of women would kill for)
  • All her children, esp Harper are adorable. No dodgy looking kids for her brood
  • So much money. Never ever has to worry about providing for her kids
  • She's attractive
  • Her Husband is pretty cool.
  • She has family support

She must know she has a pretty enviable life!

She makes having a family SO attractive. On the streets, I just see harassed parents.

Well, they've both done extraordinarily well for a couple of thickos.

And to say they're thick via the medium of a barely comprehensible post is, frankly, laughable.

As I say, just pointing out the irony.

I think Beckham is probably not a good husband.

She seems like a good Mum. I don't think she's thick at all. Seems to be doing pretty ok for herself. Let's face it she's doing the best out of all the Spice Girls.

I think my dd is cuter than Harper.

What is thick? Not having been to university? well me too then.

When they had that spice girl reunion recently and scary spice (mel B) was shouting at the crowd -geeing the crowd up - and throwing in a few swear words for good measure, you could see posh standing there clapping politely like she was in the audience, not part of the lineup, she looked like she was thinking 'this is painful enough, and now, oh lovely, swearing!!, brilliant'.

It is a bit unsettling really the level of criticism directed at her by other women.
-So she forgave her cheating husband. HER prerogative. I wouldn't, but hundreds on MN have been supported through making exactly the same --mistake- decision.
-So, she got lucky and ended up in a girl band despite having no musical talent. Would you all turn your backs on that opportunity??? Say, no thank you, that's not fair. I don't deserve the honour Hmm of being in the spice girls. Ha!!!
-Because she's thin? is she only sleb on a permanent diet? eh duh if you think so.

I agree with what you are saying. But the thing with VB is that IMO she gets people annoyed by lying a out that stuff!
When DB allegedly cheated she stood on every red carpet going draped all over him in what I would consider a completely pathetic attempt to "show off" her "prize". Even if he hadn't been unfaithful she made herself and him look ridiculous. IMO.
The Spice Girls all got lucky. I would never begrudge them their fame there. But VB was never a talented singer. She thought she was though. And only admitted how rubbish she was when she decided to be a designer and wanted to lose that image.
She was always slim to me. But she became skeletal looking after Brooklyn. But said stupid things like ??"I've always been naturally slim". Hmm
So if she would cut the bullshit, and stop parading around like a complete numpty, took the poker out if her arse and stopped faking everything then I might have more time for her.
And most men I know think she is ridiculous too. I just happens that there are women here. As I said earlier I have plenty if time for most women. But not her. She is a vacuous, vain, self absorbed twat. IMO.

But as I also said earlier, she doesn't seem to be a bitch either. And has raised nice kids-with lots of help.
I am a bitch it would seem. Grin

I think VB has achieved a lot. I particularly like her frocks!

But like others, I just wish she would stop lying.

Of her figure, I've heard her put it down to everyhting from 'running after my DC' to polycystic ovaries. She should either come clean and admit she eats very very little or (better still) make no comment.

Of her family, I wish she would stop trying to position herself as an uber-mummy.
She is a successful business woman, who travels a lot, lives apart from her DH and has lots of help with childcare and housekeeping! All this is fine but she should stop pretending!!!!

I don't think she is pretending. She looks knackered most of the time.

I have to say I do admire her. I think she has a lot of ambition and determination. I reckon she s a control freak - the way the kids are paraded out at times, bit then I think their lives are a little extraordinary and there s probably not a handbook on how to deal with it.
I love her vb designs and reckon hats off to her for following her ambition. She could have just decided to live off David's reputation and look skinny pretty Smile
Yup I agree she s unnaturally skinny. I would question if it s healthy and balanced.
Her kids so seem lovely. Bit I think they too are groomed for public performance.
The op reference to 'dodgy kids' or sommat had me a bit Shock but I do agree harper seems a cutie .
I detest how she s always perched on vb s hips though. It looks to me like vb is concentrating on her step in heels, not actually interacting with her daughter.
DB seems like he s a good dad bit horrible husband. I wonder if he s rebelling against vb s iron fist. All the affairs.... Disgusting and I don't know how she would stay for it. Not even for all the money an fame.

Maybe her next reinvention is as a finanacially independent single woman. she is strong. I think she is 40 now? or is that next year. I wonder if she will bother to stick with him in her forties. Maybe she'll decide to refocus her strength in another direction. One thing you have to give her is that she grows up. she isn't clinging on to her 20s.

I wouldn't call her thick what is thick anyway she has done all right for herself I just hate the persona and not the person brand beckham just gets right on my wick Grin

I don't know if she is thick or not. Has she any qualifications?

Report
DonDrapersAltrEgoBigglesDraper · 07/05/2013 10:36

What do qualifications have to do with someone's level of thickness?

It's possible to be intelligent/bright/savvy/articulate/astute/etc, without being educated. Surey we all agree on that.

The point is, she's done exceedingly well. Far, far better than many people sitting in judgement of her level of intelligence. Lightyears better.

So ... y'know...

No, I don't mean that I mean as we have never met her knowing what qualifications she got at school is an indication. The only solid indication we could have. That's all.

I think Victoria Beckham is great.

Report
DonDrapersAltrEgoBigglesDraper · 07/05/2013 10:48

Surey her achievements are even more of a solid indication...?

Somebody sub-par on the intelligence levels is probably going to pootle along like most of us, not buidling their own empire, not being a household name, etc.

Sod the qualifications, we can see what she's achieved!

When I saw that photo of her recently with Harper and those heels, I was shocked, as imagined the possibility of her tripping up and/or losing her balance and falling over. Very dangerous with baby in arm and on hip especially when walking down steps.

You don't have to be her biggest fan to find this taste for ripping her down a bit disturbing. I'm not her fan per se. Well, I'd love one of her dresses. Maybe that counts.

The Beckhams pay a lot of money for good PR and what you read about them is good for the brand which is worth millions. They can pay to make sure they rarely get negative press. I have heard that Roland Mouret has been very "influential" in Victoria Beckham's designs and of course, it is also interesting that Simon Fuller is Roland Mouret's business partner. Simon Fuller owns 50% of the business.

Report
squoosh · 07/05/2013 16:05

That is interesting MissHilly. A lot of her designs are quite Mouret-esque. I do remember hearing some murmurings about the speed of her development as a designer considering she'd never undertaken any formal training.

squoosh · 07/05/2013 16:06

I always forget about Simon Fuller and their links with him. He seems to be the true silent power behind lots of showbiz thrones.
