I will kick off by linking to these attractive mustard coloured jumpers and yellow and black tartan pinafores

Hmm. I think Ryanboy is winning so far with the mustard tartan

ouryve · 03/05/2013 12:54

Trinity house, Hull

The cadet uniforms are smart, but i used to also see the boys in traditional sailor boy costumes with the swuare collars.

SantanaLopez · 03/05/2013 12:58

These 'magenta and chocolate' blazers should be up there!

ouryve · 03/05/2013 12:58

Square

scaevola · 03/05/2013 12:59

Hill House, London has to be a contender. Anyone fancy rust coloured knickerbockers?

SantanaLopez · 03/05/2013 13:00

And scaevola goes straight to the top of the leader board!

LadySlatternlysHoover · 03/05/2013 13:00

I wish I could link to the school uniform I had to wear in the 1970s but it's long gone.

It was bottle green blazer & overcoat. In the summer there was a straw boater hat but, in the winter, it was a green, felt covered jockey style hat.

Thankfully, the hats were not compulsory.

BreastmilkCrucifiesAFabLatte · 03/05/2013 13:05

I wonder when the PR lady of the one who designed that 'mustard tartan' will pop along to this thread..

noblegiraffe · 03/05/2013 13:05

My primary school uniform was a brown pinafore with a bright yellow blouse and a brown and yellow striped tie which I thought was bad but the mustard jumpers are truly unflattering.

ryanboy · 03/05/2013 13:12

Noblegiraffe-did you go to Mallory Towers-Iam sure their uniform was like that.
The rust coloured knickerbockers teamed with the mustard jumpers get my vote so far!

livinginwonderland · 03/05/2013 13:18

mine wasn't awful looking at some of the others, but i did have to wear a straw boater in summer and a red beret in winter when i was at primary school which i hated with a fiery passion!

i also had ankle length tartan skirts for private senior school...bleurgh!

DublinMammy · 03/05/2013 13:19

We didn't have a uniform in primary school but my mother made us all wear one anyway, based on the uniform from when we lived in England for a few years because she thought it looked smart and less washing/ easier in the mornings. Imagine being the only one in your class in a navy skirt and jumper uniform??

MavisSnapdragon · 03/05/2013 13:19

£48 for those mustard (sorry, I mean gold) coloured jumpers. And only available from Harrods! Shock

Tingalingle · 03/05/2013 13:20

I'm rather saddened to see that this school has moderated its early years of bonkers uniform: used to be a different variation on rust and green for every year, meaning you had to keep on buying new stuff.

According to a bitter ex-pupil, anyway. She may have been biased.

IShallWearMidnight · 03/05/2013 13:22

livinginwonderland - I was just about to post ankle length kilts - did we go to the same school? G?

Inertia · 03/05/2013 13:23

Scaveola I like their rationale about grey uniforms and grey minds- presumably rusty minds are preferable.

I think it's fair to say that culottes and rust/gold cravats do not feature nearly often enough in uniforms.

Inertia · 03/05/2013 13:25

Are those Tudor ones the actual everyday uniform ?!?

GeorgianMumto5 · 03/05/2013 13:29

Oh my word - have you seen the prices of Hill House uniforms? I think I can kit each of my children out for less than the price of one Hill House jumper.

The twee red ones look ridiculous cute.

I am agog at the Tudor-style uniform. What is that about?

Gubbins · 03/05/2013 13:31

Yes they are, Inertia. And everyone I know who went there was very fond of them.

I came here to nominate Hill House, but see I've been beaten to it.

GeorgianMumto5 · 03/05/2013 13:31

SantanaLopez, those blazers are hideous! Like pyjamas from the 1970s. And why do public school boys always have rosy cheeks?
