oh dear - crying with laughter and Shock
Was going to mention Farnbourgh Hill - those blazers would give you a headache if you had to look at a whole school of them.
I shall never complain about our maroon plastic acrylic jumpers again!

Meerkatwhiskers · 03/05/2013 18:02

I live the next town over from where Christ's Hospital is and that is indeed their everyday uniform. They even have to wear it on weekends as you see the older kids in the nearby town on day release shopping. Poor kids. But then their parents are probably telling them "i'm paying this much a term for your education you will wear what you are blood told" lol.

Meerkatwhiskers · 03/05/2013 18:03

bloody even Grin

Meerkatwhiskers · 03/05/2013 18:04

Ooh i've just inadvertently learnt to type in bold. I'm pretty new and still learning Grin

WishIdbeenatigermum · 03/05/2013 18:13

Ahem. Blush and Angry
HH is extremely practical, I'll have you know! Great trade in 2nd hand, it lasts for ever, is unisex and they don't have to change out of it for sports.
I posted about my sil stealing it in the cheeky feckers thread recently

Actually it's still a charity school so most people pay very low fees, if any at all.

Whoever's mother went there in the 1940s wouldn't have worn that uniform because she'd have been on the Hertford girls' campus, which had a different uniform. The boys' and girls' school merged in the mid-1980s. I wore that uniform every day for seven years, and yes we were very fond of it.

cuillereasoupe · 03/05/2013 18:17

^^Ooops, italics FAIL

LemonsLimes · 03/05/2013 18:26

Can you imagine looking at a whole class of kids in the humbug blazer and tie? www.campbellcollege.co.uk/junior_school/schoollife/schoollife_home.htm All those stripes going in different directions.

Is CH a fee paying school? If so wouldn't the uniform come out of the fees paid?

Mustard and brown is DEFINITELY the worst combination ever; they suit noone. I have hideous memories of 9 years in mustard and brown uniform, and I have never worn either colour ever again.

CrispsAndChoc · 03/05/2013 18:37

I came on here to nominate my old school but see Couthy has beaten me to it! I went to Brentwood Ursuline-royal blue, yellow and brown striped blazer. Dreadful!! We had a brown mac in the winter too.

I was going to suggest a school near where i grew up that had a blazer with bottle green, yellow and brown thick vertical stripes, but i see from the website that they have changed it to plain bottle green

cuillereasoupe · 03/05/2013 18:42

Yes, fees at CH are paid on a sliding scale depending on parent income, but there are all sorts of scholarships and bursaries. My parents paid about a hundred quid a year. All the uniform is provided free of charge.

DoTheStrand · 03/05/2013 18:43

Leonie that explains my mum's feet! She always said that when at CH if they got given a nice pair of shoes by the school they'd hang on to them for ever even when they didn't fit any more. Ruined her feet. (I think that was her only complaint, she was v happy there).

PiratePanda we also had a brown and yellow uniform, it's hideous isn't it. it took me years to be able to wear brown again even when it was the height of fashion. (You're not from Newcastle are you??)

WildlingPrincess · 03/05/2013 18:46

Santana I quite liked those jackets Blush

umbrellahead · 03/05/2013 19:08

I know the OP already linked to Queen Ethelburga's but I thought I would add in with their middle school uniform.

The thought of that purple tartan mixed with the mustard of the junior school uniform!

meala · 03/05/2013 20:51

Oh Cecily, that Deepdene one is pretty grim!

SanityClause · 03/05/2013 20:56

Merton Court

BikeRunSki · 03/05/2013 21:04

I went to a non-uniform school near to HH. How we used to point and laugh chuckle at their uniform, as we tripped down the King's Road in inappropriately short skirts and dodgy hair cuts.

crunchbag · 03/05/2013 21:12

These are funny, never seen any of them in real life.
I think teachers should be made to wear them as well.

LemonsLimes · 03/05/2013 21:12

I think the Chapter House one that the OP posted is in the lead for me.
