to absolutely hate/loathe the film Bridesmaids and wonder how anyone could find it "the best film ever"!

I know the film was out ages ago but I watched it on dvd a good few months ago after reading a letter in a magazine where this woman said it was her 7 year old dd's fave film so I thought it might be nice to watch with my dd3 who is 9 but luckily I decided to watch it first - and really hated it - I thought it was such childish humour and pretty revolting and by the time we got to the puppies being given away for free I watched the rest on fast forward thinking it was probably almost over anyway but it wasn't - it went on and on! I haven't watched anything like the American Pie films or any or that kind of humour which I think Bridesmaids is trying to be like but I still cannot understand why so many people have raved about this film and to think it's acceptable to watch with your children - it opens with her having sex for a start! Anyway I thought I had put this behind me until I read on FB a friend's comments about how she has just watched the film again and so many others have left comments agreeing that it's the best film they've seen and so funny - oh the bit on the plane - oh and in the shop with the wedding dresses ..... - I had to come somewhere for a rant!!! (and hope that at least one person can agree with me or if not please EXPLAIN to me the funny parts and how I missed them!!

I stopped watching at the vom scenes. Yuk.

Meh. I enjoyed it. I laughed. I won't be showing it to my 7yo though.

Ditto. I was shocked at how rude it was, well more vulgar (that might make me sound PO) and didn't really like the whole bitchy side to it. The puppies as gifts, that was just wrong.

I did like the storyline between her and Chris O'Dowd though, thought it was sweet, if a little trite

I thought it was hilarious. It is in no way marketed as a kids film though so whether you personally found it funny or not, the children asos t is irrelevant really.

The puppies bit is meant to be ridiculous though, that's the point.

I think people either love it or hate it. I'm in the hate it camp. Although I did laugh when they all got the shits in the posh bridal shop!

I like it! It's like the female equivilent of The Hangover. OTT and totally un realistic but it's fun.

It's not for kids.

I liked american pie etc at the time but i was 12/13 so of coarse i did but my humour has obviously changed over the years. As long as i don't lie louie anytime soon i'm good

i thought it was laugh out loud funny, and great to see a funny movie with women as the main characters rather than the one piece of eye candy.

I read it as "Brideshead" in the film title & thought it was rather unusual for a 7yr old to have as a favourite film!

I thought it was good couple of LOL moments

I was very disappointed when I watched it. I dont think I laughed once!
I felt the same when I watched Ted, couldn't believe how much swearing was in it Im a swearer and it shocked even me

I couldn't get past the first 10 mins. I thought it was stupid.

I hated how manly one of the characters was. I can't remember her name, she was in Gilmore girls. It was just stupid.

I watched at the cinema and although not my usual cup of tea, I did enjoy it and LOL. I do wonder whether that was down to the 'joint' humour - everyone around me laughing, makes you more likely to find it amusing?

No way would I let an under 12 watch it though and I am quite laid back about judging films by their content suitability and not what the film council deem appropriate IYSWIM (obviously not 18 rated films...for eg Bridget Jones, rated 15, DD is 9 and it is on non-stop, I'm sick of it!)

Anyway YAB totally U - there is a much worse film out there that everybody raged about and I never 'got' - There's Something About Mary. I did a wee humphy face all the way through and was called a miserable cow because I thought it was utter shite

It was horrible. People undermining each other and being catty and bitchy is not funny, it's disgraceful.

I actually found it quite misogynistic, to the point of being offensive.

I gave it until they were on the plane then realised that life is too short to watch a film I hate that much, so I stopped watching.

Yeah, right. You decided to show your 7 year old a 15 rated film that according to the Rating body 'Contains very strong language, strong sex references and crude humour' and were shocked to discover on previewing it that it's not suitable for a 7 year old.

I watched it after my sister raved about it, I sat there like this >>> it is a big pile of sexist, stereotypical, "chic flick" bull.

I have a massive sense of humour failure over stuff like this. do not get me started on the Hangover or any such like.

I can see why it could be amusing, but it was so Mirandaesque in its JOKE COMING! GET READY TO LAUGH....NOW!

IMO it's not as funny as Hangover, and just proves that because a thing can be done, it doesn't always have to be.
