to absolutely hate/loathe the film Bridesmaids and wonder how anyone could find it "the best film ever"!

I know the film was out ages ago but I watched it on dvd a good few months ago after reading a letter in a magazine where this woman said it was her 7 year old dd's fave film so I thought it might be nice to watch with my dd3 who is 9 but luckily I decided to watch it first - and really hated it - I thought it was such childish humour and pretty revolting and by the time we got to the puppies being given away for free I watched the rest on fast forward thinking it was probably almost over anyway but it wasn't - it went on and on! I haven't watched anything like the American Pie films or any or that kind of humour which I think Bridesmaids is trying to be like but I still cannot understand why so many people have raved about this film and to think it's acceptable to watch with your children - it opens with her having sex for a start! Anyway I thought I had put this behind me until I read on FB a friend's comments about how she has just watched the film again and so many others have left comments agreeing that it's the best film they've seen and so funny - oh the bit on the plane - oh and in the shop with the wedding dresses ..... Confused - I had to come somewhere for a rant!!! (and hope that at least one person can agree with me or if not please EXPLAIN to me the funny parts and how I missed them!!

I agree that it was slightly lowbrow in some parts ("It's coming out of me like lava"...thanks for that visual) but overall, I love Bridesmaids. There were some funny lines, and it had a lot of heart. And it was great to see a comedy movie with women as leads do well (dare I say groundbreaking?!)

Definitely not a children's film though.

I loved it, I watched it at the cinema with my mum and have it on DVD. I can see why some may find it vulgar though, but I personally loved it!

Wouldn't dream of showing it to a child though, I find that very odd!!!!!

My partner is in the hate it camp.

something about mary was utter crap. had heard it was the funniest thing but watched it with the husband and had to turn it off. Now Mr Deeds has me rolling and that gets panned a bit. Don't Mess with The Zohan was another I LOL at.

Funnily enough I watched it last night and found it quite funny but the thought did cross my mind that you average Mn person would be mortally offended.

I thought it was funny, but not hilariously so tbh.

Problem was I watched it before I watched mad Men and now cannot take Don Draper seriously.

Kristen Wiig was very good in it I thought.

I loved it, I normally hate "chick flicks", liked the Hangover to, but normally do extreme horror. I know women like all of the characters, my eldest DD has just found out that she cannot be her BestF DD's God Mother because she isn't Catholic, I could imagine her acting out the party scene and stabbing cakes, if the mood takes her. Films don't have to be suitable for children, even if marketed as comedy's, if you ignore age ratings (which tbf, I do at times) then be prepared for the film not to be suitable.

I haven't seen it yet. Out of interest Op have you seen The Hangover ? Rated by many but DP and I stopped halfway through, it just wasnt funny. If you agree I won't bother with Bridesmaids.

To lower the tone even further, we always repeat some of lines when we have diarrhoea, I have said that I can't chance going out or I'll be "shitting in the street", without a big dress to hide me.

Am Shock at showing it to children. Its an adult film. How could you not have sniggered at the competitive speech bit? Or the step childrens comments to their dreadful stepmother. I liked it and thought it was pretty funny unlike most films.

If you did like it you will like I Give It a Year.

Thank god you posted this, I didnt find it remotely amusing, literally didnt laugh once and ended up fast forwarding through it. Awful film and sorry dont get Miranda either but nice lady.

"You're a little c*nt" scene always cracks me up - that and the destroying the big cookie and the butthole bleach convo at bridal shower still crack me up . . .

I did laugh when she went on a rampage at the bridal shower and when she was as high as a kite on the aeroplane.

I like the contrast between going onto the plane like super models and being escorted off by the police, but then I've had similar happen. Those that think these plots are unbelievable, just haven't been about much.

I found some bits funny but I didn't get the big hype.

I love Hangover though and cant wait for the third to come out

I thought it was quite British humour in its style though. Like the americans who wrote it are secret fans of green wing. All the facial expressions reminded me of characters from the peep show or green wing.

I'm going to say it was..........OK. Not a love or hate issue.

Thank you OP. It has been a while since I watched this. I thought it there were a few funny bits but on the whole found it a bit dreary. The main characters downward spiral just made me feel sad. Very over hyped.

although when I have expressed this opinion in a group I have been the only one who thought this Smile. Everyone else seems to think it is hilarious.

Bumbez - haven't watched The Hangover although DH raves about it - but DH raved about Something about Mary and I only saw 2 minutes of that and knew that it wasn't my type of film (where she thinks it's hairgel and puts it in her hair)

Pickledginger - I haven't let my DD watch the movie - I had watched 27 dresses and quite liked that for a chick flick and let my girls watch it and then when I read in a magazine that this woman had let her 7 year olf dd watch the movie and it was her dd's favourite movie I thought - Oh maybe I can let the girls wtch that one too - I was just relieved that I did decided (at the last minute) to watch it first. I know it's not aimed at kids but because I had read someone had let their child watch it I just assumed that it was a nice lighthearted comedy.

I know it's meant to be OTT and even a little offensive but I just think that there are so many films out there with that type of humour that there really wasn't the need for one starring a couple of actresses that I've seen in other things and liked - Rose Byrne in Damages and Melissa McCarthy in Gilmore Girls - I was actually shocked that MC would agree to be in a film that basically made out that fat girls were unattractive and just do nothing but fart - she's an incredibly attractive woman in RL and then plays this disgusting character that is meant to be a sterotype ??

The scene where they're trying to outdo each other at the speeches (I'm her best friend - no I'm her best friend) could have been great but went on way too long.

I am relieved that there are at least some people who didn't find it funny - I know it's each to their own and I'm only calling it the worst movie I've ever seen because there are obviously alot of movies I haven't watched but that are probably even worse - although I'm sure I've watched films that are about the same humour wise that I have laughed at - just can't actually think of them. I just really hate the hype of some of these films - they really build them up and then you basically waste your life waiting to get to the good part that will have you laughing. Maybe I'm just getting old.........

Birdsgottafly any Christian can be godparent to a Catholic the church only ask that at least 1 godparent is Catholic. If your dd has been christened she can be a godparent.
