To ask if any of you have dropped your children :-(

DD is 7 months, I've just left the doctors after dropping dd from sofa height onto the floor.
She is fine, I am heartbroken and disgusted with myself. I feel like the worst parent ever. How could I have done that?
It could have been so serious, luckily.it not.

OMG - forgive yourself! I've dropped each of mine (3) at least once or twice and accidentally banged their poor little heads on a door way.

It does feel terrible, but you're human. It happens. You didn't mean it.

I still cringe 24 years later when I remember dropping dd when she was 24 hours old onto a hard hospital floor I cried as much as she did and didn't think I deserved to have a baby Luckily all was fine.

It's just I feel so sickened, the most awful thing I have ever done

DD once fell sideways off me, bashed her eye on the table. Black eye no less. I was horrified (ex SS as well). Everyone makes mistakes. It will all pale into insignificance when your toddler starts bashing themselves daily.

It's really quite common, they can be wriggly wee mites. I've not done it but I have done the bang head on doorframe. All is well so get a cuppa and use it as an excuse to give even more cuddles

I dropped my DD once and once she managed to fall off the bed!!!! In my panic i rang my mum who just laughed and said it happens, just check them over and take them to the doctors if worried.

I dropped dd six weeks old, slipped on the stairs (learnt the hard way to hold the banister!)
she rolled down about 4 stairs, I was devastated!
Nearly reported myself to SS!!
Dr in A&E laughed and said good job babies bounce

DP once lent over the freezers in tesco and DSD fell out of her front carrier right into the freezer! He has never forgiven himself.

My mum once let go of my hand at the top of the stairs at 14months and I fell down the entire spiral staircase, broke 8 bones. I am fine!!!

I slipped and fell with DD2 in my arms when she was three months old. She hit her head on the table as she went down and then on the wooden floor. It made a horrible noise and I was sure I had broken her. She cried, a lot, but at a&e she was checked over and she was fine, though her head was bruised and a little misshapen for a few weeks.

The doctors and nurses were lvely about it, and reassured me that everyone drops their babies. Which I think is an exaggeration but it si extremely common.

My ex dropped our two week old dd of the side of the bed which had a wood trim that stuck out 3 inches, he fell asleep with her on his chest and he rolled over dropping her off the edge... twice in a
one week!

He dropped DS2 about 3ft onto the floor whilst playing with him.

He also dropped DS1 off the sofa cuddled up and DS1 rolled off.

Not why we split up as all were accidents.

My friend dropped her baby down 3 steps accidentally too that was scary.

Yes, the thunking baby's head on the door frame/dropping them off the sofa won't seem quite so traumatic as they get older. You're sure to experience bowel-stimulating moments such as getting to the bottom of the stairs just in time to see them at the top shouting "I can fly!"...

We've all had an accident or made a mistake. You are human and no different from the rest of us. Please don't beat yourself up over this, learn and move on. A glass of wine tonight for you. You are a good caring mum who did the right thing by having baby checked at the docs. Take it easy on yourself and have lots of cuddles with your little one tonight.

I accidentally nudged Toddler DS down the stairs once. He was more frightened by me screaming hysterically than falling. Not a scratch on him. 4 years later we still have a house rule that only one person is allowed on the stairs at any time.

She's fine an wont remember it. You're miles and miles away from being the worst parent ever.

I've dropped my DS (2.5 now) a good few times, the latest being that we were playing rugby, I ran to grab him and lift him up but instead caught him awkwardly and managed to hit head of the floor. He was extremely stunned.

I've also fallen over while carrying him (I hurt my knee, he was fine) and I've managed to tip him in the pram when I lost my footing on a curb.

I dropped DS out of his moses basket when he was only a few days old. I picked up the basket, and one handle slipped out of my sleep befuddled hands and he rolled right out, hitting the side of the door on the way down.

I freaked right out.

Don't torture yourself, your baby is fine. They have hard noggins, probably evolved that way to survive the toddler years when they try to injure themselves on a daily basis . My sister's wee girl managed to wriggle off a changing table when she was only 3 months old, she was her first born and my dsis was so upset, baby was and still is fine. Dsis is now due her 3rd baby any day now and is a brilliant mother, accidents happen to the best of us.

Don,t beat yourself up, know its hard not to. I fell asleep with my 3 month old and he rolled off the sofa onto the floor. I felt so bad and guilty. my fault as I shouldn,t of dosed off but I was dog tired. Rushed to the doctors and he thought I was a nut nut but calmed me down.
He is a fine strapping boy now and no harm done.
Relax, it wasn,t intentional and accidents happen.

DD1 had her head banged on a doorway at only a few days old. Her dad was carrying her moses basket and one handle slipped and she rolled out, around 4 months.

DD2 has so far been ok, but accidents happen.

I fell over a ship's raised watertight door holding DD2 when she was 11 months old. I twisted and slammed my knee down to take most of the force out of it (and to stop myself throwing her headfirst at a wall) but I still dropped her a foot or more. She had a bump on her head and leg and while I was checking her over a lady who had come to our aid said 'Did you know you have blood running down your leg?'

Nope - too worried about DD2 to notice I'd friction burned/grazed the skin off half my knee and two places on my arm. DD2 seemed to be fine once she'd had her initial cry.

DD1(4) is now capable of throwing herself off the sofa onto her head.

Yes I think most have, I tripped up the stairs carrying dd1 and she flew out of my arms and landed in a heap, she also crawled off the bed once head first as well. She is 11 now and has no ill effect. Don't beat yourself up about it.

i dropped my 6month old down onto the pavement , i felt so bad, i just tripped and she slipped out of my arms, she had a very big lump on her forehead but thankfully was fine, i think i cried more than she did..you are not a bad mum x

You know the trick you do with a bucket full of water, where if you swing it fast enough you can spin it right over your head without the water falling out? FIL did that with newborn DH in a blanket on the concrete back yard. He didn't swing fast enough

Now that's something you'd never forgive yourself for or that you'd bring up and laugh about at every given opportunity as if it's the best memory you have of your young family

I dropped my daughter when she was about 9 or 10 weeks old. Can't remember the circumstances now, but I remember crying in the doctors office saying she should be taken away for her own safety and the doctor laughing at me and saying how we "all do it"!

It's a rite of passage. If you include "allowing them to roll off {insert surface of your choice...bed / settee / changing table / etc}" then I'm sure we've all done it at least once.
