I've seen this a few times in the last few weeks.

Dog shits. Owner gets bag and picks up main body of excrement. Bits are left behind. They walk on.

Seriously, if you have an animal that can't do a solid poo, you need to toilet it in your own grounds or take a little bottle of water or something. People can still stand in the residue. It is disgusting.

Oh FFs, this happened to me yesterday, I walk my dog to school, he does do solid poos mainly but sometimes, it's a bit soft, and I used 3 fucking bags trying to get the entire thing up, a bottle of water would only disperse it a bit.

The turd should be in the kerb too.

Maybe a sudden attack of illness? In which case, fair enough, but keep your dog in your own garden or take cleaning stuff out until they are better.

Anything else, you are choosing to leave shit on the pavement, where people are walking, children are playing, prams are being pushed etc. Even worse if you are leaving it in grass, where people can't even see it till they have stood in it. Or near a school.

Maybe a gutter is the best option if you must leave dirty smelly shit full of germs lying about.

You choose to have a dog. Part of that choice is to be a responsible owner, which involves not allowing the potential to make people ill, ruin clothes, shoes and carpets and generally stink the place out.

IMO leaving poo everywhere is worse than letting them bark all night.

No responsible dog owner would leave shit lying about intentionally, but sometimes, you don't know how soft their poo will be til it's too late!

My dog also gets his arse as close to the hedge as possible, so it's never on the pavement, but it does make it harder to 'rinse'

I like dogs, when they have owners that don't leave shit everywhere, only let them bark a reasonable amount (I don't mind them making as much noise as my children, but obviously not barking for hours or late at night) and never utter the words "oh, he's only trying to play" when their dog is jumping up at me.

I had dogs all through my childhood, I honestly don't mind them as animals. It's the owners that do my head in.

In our village there are a few dog bins. Not everyone uses them though.

Unfortunately there are far too many irresponsible dog owners who literally couldn't give a shit. The recreation field behind our house would be a lovely big space for the DCs to run and play but its rendered totally unusable by the sheer volume of turds left hidden in the grass. I think we have a worse than average problem round here but no matter where you are if you can't pick up its shit you shouldn't have a dog.

I am a dog and horse owner, if the horse shots on the pavement I go back later in my car with a bucket, I wouldn't dream of leaving something so potentially harmful as dog muck lying around.

You don't always know that the dog is going to not produce a solid poo. How are you meant to determine the consistency of the poo before said poo is produced?

YANBU to expect people to clear up after their pets of course but my dog had been struck with the unexpected shits a couple of timesand i've spent a red-faced few minutes trying to scrape shite off the pavement with wet wipes

Why don't dog owners bring along a little pot to shove under the dog's bum as soon as he starts to squat? Why should any part of it ever end up on the pavement?

I think in general and I speak as a dog owner here, the law needs to really get tough on dog owners for safety, for picking up dog craps, for not letting your huge bounding dog run up to people and then say...

" Ohhhh she is so friendly" etc.

my dog eats on the vets advice, dry food, her poo is always solid.

I do pick up my dogs shit, but tbh, I dont think its a massive deal if occasionally there are scrapings still left on the grass.

Its the outdoor world. There will be the shit of various animals and runners here and there and people do need to watch where theyre walking too. The natural world isnt particularly hygenic and i think in the main, most dog owners are pretty spot on about picking up dogshit, far more than ever before or in any other country. I think complaining because an occasional owner cant scrape up every single remnant, even when theyve made an effort at it, is a bit precious.

Love that a tiny scrape of dog poo residue is unacceptable but cat poo in garden threads always go the other way and it's perfectly fine to leave whole dollops of their shit around.

Kerbing? I thought it was 'curb your dog' - basically keep them under control and be aware of their bodily excretions. If you are suggesting that people bodily drag their mid-shit dogs into the road, I eagerly await the input of a great dane/leonberger/St Bernard owner on how easy this is to achieve. And the input of cyclists and car drivers who will be dodging these huge crapping dogs in the road.

To be fair, most dogs would benefit from a better diet that would incidentally result in firmer poo. How any dog manages a solid shit on Bakers or Pedigree is beyond me.
